Warming thoughts coming your way @Elphame.

@Daphnesmate04 I love how much you're looking forward to your venture, I feel the same about my businesses, they bring me so much joy and satisfaction.

(Also, years on MN and I still don't know how to tag someone without their full name coming up 😂)

I'm about to head for bed having just done a beautiful visualisation of my future self - I was surprised and pleased at how well it worked and how lovely it was to meet her, and I thought you ladies would get it and not think I was a total weirdo for trying it :) she had a cottage between the woods and the sea and it's made me feel happy and soothed among the madness.

BlankTimes · 10/02/2021 03:46

Flickering flames, warm embers and salt-lamp glows Elphame and anyone else shivering. We are snowed-in.

Daphnesmate04 I wish you success in your ventures.

Snowed in here too blanktimes Three foot high drifts blocking in cars and making walking anywhere impossible.
Thankfully I have plenty food!

moregarlic · 10/02/2021 10:28

I hope those of you negatively impacted by the weather are OK and have enough food and warmth.

Following on from yesterday, I slept for 12 hrs (waking once to feed DD before DH got up with her). I’ve no idea what is wrong with me. Feel less dizzy today but still foggy and “off”. I hope my blood results have a clear answer and there is something proactive I can do about it all.

Glad you are feeling a little better today. Sleep is so healing isn't it.
Just back from a magical river woodland walk at the Abbey, just beautiful.

Those snow shots are just lovely. I wish we had some here. It's just very cold but at least the mud is frozen which makes walking the dog less of a horror show.

Thank you for the warming thoughts - they are definitely helping. I've unpacked my skiing trousers and am wearing those today instead of my jeans. Luckily no one will see me other than DP and he's wearing his!

LunaHeather · 10/02/2021 15:20

Hello all
Still lurking

I am sorry for those having hard times

Sorry also for people battling snow, It's not much where I am but it's problematic, always so relieved when it's over.

Once again, I thought of so many wise words from you ladies today, with a former friend/acquaintance/I don't know getting in touch.

I have no certainty for what I am but looking to my own locus of control seems more important everyday.

And the sun is shining and melting the snow!

Daphnesmate04 · 10/02/2021 18:35

hilarious Unable to begin my new venture yet. Covid and pre-schooler in the mix, so this makes things difficult (pre-schooler) starting pre-school in September so that is when things will probably start shifting again. I am excited but also fear failure, so it is a big step. What are your businesses?

she had a cottage between the woods and the sea and it's made me feel happy and soothed among the madness.

I have a similar vision too.

hilariousnamehere · 10/02/2021 22:38

@Daphnesmate04 aw, I know that waiting feeling (though for different reasons) - it'll be so worth it when you get there! And we'll be here if you need advice or just support along the way.

I'm mostly a photographer (small businesses, a few big businesses, boudoir and mermaids for clients, fairytales and folklore for myself) and then I'm also co-owner of a stationery subscription box, co-founder of a new chocolate company I launched with my family in November last year, and co-host of a podcast :) it's manic but wonderful - last 12 months have been tough but I'm determined to keep going as even the bad days are so much better than my full time day jobs ever were.

Always happy to chat about business if you fancy it!

My mind keeps wandering off to that woodland cottage by the sea - feels like an important step of my journey to have found her. I love that you have a similar vision!

LunaHeather · 10/02/2021 23:07

Hilarious that sounds wonderful.....but I love love love stationery!

Nice bit of nature in the flat. Some budding irises on the balcony fell flat on their faces, I picked them and I swear they opened within five minutes of being popped into a bit of water!

hilariousnamehere · 11/02/2021 01:01

@LunaHeather yay, a fellow fanatic! I think papery goodness has a magic all its own 💙

speakout · 11/02/2021 07:04

Good morning sisters.
A bitterly cold start to the day here, minus 11 in my garden right now. A day of many layers ahead.
Elphame I hope you are managing to keep warm, and it won't be too long before your heating is fixed.
I had a boiler replaced a coupld of years ago, the new one had to be installed on a different floor of the house for technical reasons- it was no easy job. Pipework, roofers to fit a new flue, electricians, joiners, carpet fitters. and it was the week before christmas- a nasty business! I have a lot of trouble having strangers in my house, sacred space and all. I know it is necessary and everyone was polite , but I feel my hackles bristle.
hilariousnamehere your businesses sound amazing I am in awe, I struggle to keep up with the work involved with just one business, but to have so many on the go must be full on.
Do you do all this from home?

It is going to take all the bravery of a lion to get me in the shower this morning! I have been lying in my cosy bed planning my strategy!
Fresh clothes on my bedroom radiator, switch on shower first, let it run for a few minutes while I brush my teeth , put towels on bathroom radiator. Emphasis shall be on speed I think!
My radiators are on full blast but it is so cold outside the house feels chilly.
I need to dig out my car later too, as I have to get to the post office. That will make me warm at least!!

Have a magical day dear friends.

Oh my goodness speakout! You’ll be channelling your inner Jonna Jinton at those temperatures/ No wonder it felt chilly this morning! I hope your post office run goes smoothly. Your pictures of the abbey in the snow are beyond beautiful.

Warm thoughts and energy to all who are snowed in/feeling the cold right now. Elphame your ski trousers sound like an excellent idea. Really hope the coal fires are taking the edge off and that the boiler is soon sorted.

I’m loving hearing about everyone’s creative ventures and entrepreneurship. I’m on the cusp of taking a new direction and you’re all very inspiring.

Right now my energy is erratic, I’m doing all I can to stay grounded and take care of myself but sometimes I think you just have to ride it out until the storm passes. I feel like I’ve been saying it for a while now but the end of this phase is definitely in sight!

Inspired by BlankTimes’ magic teapot, I’ve treated myself to a selection of Dragonfly teas to try. I’ve never had Tulsi tea before but am enjoying their ‘Happy Tulsi’ blend Brew

Warming thoughts to all

Elphame · 11/02/2021 14:07

OK -I'll stop complaining - it's a balmy -3 here!

I need to go and cut out some more pendants and take a few pictures of the ones I've done but it means abandoning my fleecy blanket. Yes I'm a wimp.

The good news is DP has finally cracked and I'm "allowed" a new puppy ( "Allowed" is stretching it - he's on a loser trying to stop me and he knows it!). New pup needs to be a little girl and it's a rarish breed that is unfortunately becoming higher profile so it will be a while. Elfdog is going to get a little sister!

speakout · 11/02/2021 16:26

Elphame

Complain away- you don't have heating after all.

How exciting to hear of your new addition- and with spring approaching a perfect time for a new puppy!! What breed will you be getting?
The sun has been very strong today, not enough to melt the snow, but lots of drippage from roofs down yesterday's icicles, which are now starting to freeze again- monster icicles everywhere!

OP posts:
Elphame · 11/02/2021 16:50

Thank you speakout she'll be another Welsh Terrier! I just love the breed- awkward pig headed stubborn as they are!

Major success to day - my first ever ring cut from copper sheet, shaped and soldered. It's now ready for polishing but as that's another first for me it can wait for tomorrow. It's far from perfect but I've never done anything like this before!

Hilarious I would be very glad of the support, I have little support in real life. Stationery - I also love stationery! I enjoy writing, stationery, books, it all fits. Stationery is a bit of a saturated market I think business wise? I am by no means an artist but have a design I would like to make into notelets...maybe further along the line. And the chocolate business...that sounds ideal too (I am self confessed chocoholic who has recently started a diet, so sadly consuming none at the moment). My pre-schooler will start school next year and I'm trying to resist going back into an office environment so hoping my venture works out...have a plan B but it involves working for someone else. Fortunately, I only require a part-time income although I have worked full-time for many years, in the past, doing work I didn't always enjoy.

VioletCharlotte · 11/02/2021 20:55

Elphame exciting news about the puppy! I bet you can't wait. I'd love another one, but my dog is very much a spoilt 'only dog' and wouldn't react well to having a sibling! Do keep us posted and please post photos when you find him/her.

Speakout goodness, that is very cold! It's been minus 2 here today and feel absolutely freezing, I just can't imagine what minus 14 feels like. Have you been outside at all?

Aerwyna I've not tried Tulsi tea either, so thank you for the recommendation. I'm always open to new blends of tea. So pleased to hear it looks like the end of this challenging period is finally on the horizon.

Hilariousnamehere your businesses sound amazing, I love the sound of your photography and a chocolate business sounds amazing! Do you make the chocolates yourself?

I've been busy with work today, but managed to get out for a walk at 4.30. The wind was bitter cold, but the sky was beautiful and it was good to be outside in nature. Im glad to be indoors now though, it's warm and cosy with candles burning and I'm enjoying my new book.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 11/02/2021 23:13

Good evening all

I hope that everyone is managing to keep warm in the current snowy weather. Our (very old) boiler broke down 3 weeks ago just as the snow arrived! We shivered for a week until it was replaced. At one point I stayed in bed wrapped in layers for most of a day as it was the warmest place.

Today however all is fine. The new boiler is running smoothly and after spending the afternoon making Seville marmalade the house smells of orange.

Wishing everyone success in their ventures.

sweetkitty · 11/02/2021 23:32

Evening all I think we were about minus 10 or 11 this morning too the car took about 5 minutes to get going. Thought I was walking to work although it isn’t far wouldn’t have been too bad. Our boilers only 2 years old too we were awoken on the 1st January by this banging it was the pipes next the boiler had to turn the whole thing off, whole thing was condemned. The school I work in is about 60 years old so is the heating so it’s always cold I wear 3 layers and I’ve nicknamed the gym hall Narnia. I had my covid injection 2 days ago so I’ve been feeling a bit woozy and tired. The snow is lovely to look at though.

hilariousnamehere · 12/02/2021 00:48

Hello sisters! Proper replies tomorrow as I'm shattered, but am a bit spooked that I discovered Jonna Jinton for the first time today through a friend sharing a video, mentioned it in an ice bath thread I've just tripped over, then over here I come to see if any of you know of her because oh, her photos and videos are the most beautiful bewitching things - and there she is in my latest bookmarked post by @Aerwyna. Alright universe, I'm listening!

Squeee, ring!! Squeee, puppy!! Squeee, like-minded women 💙

Off to bed now but I shall catch up and reply properly tomorrow 💙

speakout · 12/02/2021 06:57

VioletCharlotte glad to hear you are keeping cosy.

I hope everyone is feeling some refreshment in the new moon's energy, she moves into Pieces today which should bring some energies of relaxation and release.
I did venture out yesterday, the landscape had an unusual quality, deeep ruts in the road, the ( very light) traffic was a crucnching noise rather than a roar. Hopefully the severe cold weather will be over in a couple of days. We have had no post since Monday, and our bins have been waiting all week too. Vans and trucks can't get near us.
hilariousnamehere I think several of us are fans of Jonna Jinton here, I have been a fan for a few years, I love her work too.

I have a busy work day planned, some new projects I am working on too which is always exciting.
I plan a goddess spa night tonight, I have been gathering some pamper ingredients and plan to spend quite a bit of time in a hot bath to feed my skin, body and soul.
.
New moon blessings to everyone.

Your goddess spa evening sounds divine speakout, and new projects perfect with the new moon. Thank you for sharing the Pisces moon information, a lovely energy for us to tap into. I hope things start to thaw where you are soon.

hilarious I love the synchronicity! Certainly sounds like a clear call to listen! I discovered Jonna Jinton on speakout’s recommendation here. Such beautiful videos and magic in the landscape, I find them very calming.

Gee it’s so lovely to see you here. Glad you got your boiler sorted and I can imagine how wonderful your house smelled after your marmalade making.

Elphame your ring looks fabulous! And how exciting about the puppy. I’d love to see pictures too when she arrives.

Violet, I hadn’t heard of Tulsi tea before BlankTimes mentioned it here, I’m really enjoying this one. I’ve ventured further into Dragonfly teas after discovering their nighttime tea in the local health food shop, it’s now a firm favourite of mine.

sweetkitty I hope you’re feeling a bit better today and that your home is now warm again.

Daphne I look forward to hearing about your creative ventures as they unfold.

Wishing everyone a magical Friday ✨
