Lord we lift up Your Name.

We give thanks for two new little beanies, Bobsmum's and Podglets?.

We give thanks that Worzella and Roseylea are quite a bit better, we pray for complete healing for both of them.

We also pray for CaptainDippy, not feeling great and struggling with a particularly difficult issue at the moment.

We pray for Podglet as she works through a week of incredible business. Lord we hold her up for Your particular love and care.

We also pray for Mummy2TandF. After the very sudden and unexplained death of her dh she is feeling totally overwhelmed by money worries and grief. Lord uphold her and give her all the practical help she needs. Also help her in answering questions from her ds and help him come to terms with his grief

We also remember Onlyjoking and Steve before the Lord with their three children.

We give thanks with Harrisey that her ds is settling into school and for a few days away. We pray for strength as she copes with the after effects of MIL's childcare

We give thanks with MaryBS for a wonderful holiday and pray for her as she takes up study and essay writing. We pray for her ds and his appointment with the paediatrician on 14th September

Zipadisoozy - prayers for peace of mind concerning ds and his new school. Prayers for him too as he settles into a class with two bullies from his previous school. Let's pray for his protection and right development.
We give thanks, with Marslady for the safe arrival of the two babies she looks after.
We thank the Lord for CaptainCaveman and her ds, who keeps us amused with the wonderful things he comes out with.
We remember Notsofarnow and the difficulties in her relationship with exh. We pray for wisdom

We welcome the new girls Scootergrrrl, Commanderchaos, Sandcastles and Shreksmissus. We pray for Mr Shrek and his very busy life and with him for all dhs who work so hard for their families. May the Lord bless them richly and keep them walking in His way.

Several young children have been brought to our notice for prayer:- Brook Kendrick who lives in Northampton and is very poorly with a heart condition in Great Ormond Street Hospital and C who is known to Bobsmum. He suffers from an inoperable brainstem tumour.

We commit ourselves and all our friends to the care of our great and wonderful Lord and Saviour.

Good morning all. Flying by. Well done Mary! DS1 is a big Eggheads fan, and both boys are very excited about seeing you on telly soon. Do you know when it will be on air?

Please could I ask for prayers for me please? I am really struggling with life in general, and in particular need wisdom for helping DS1 who has friend trouble at school and is very very sad, not wanting to go to school, unable to get to sleep at nights, needing lots of hugs. Please pray for wisdom for me to know how to encourage him, to guide him to see whether his lack of tact might be contributing to the problem, without making him feel that I too am taking sides. (Think I came down a bit hard on him last night He looks so robust, but is still only 7 and very soft underneath.

Enough of me. Holding you all in my prayers too.

God bless.

"In times of doubts & questionings, when our belief is perplexed by new learning, new teaching, new thought, when our faith is strained by creeds, by doctrines, by mysteries beyond our understanding, give us the faithfulness of learners and the courage of believers in thee; give us boldness to examine and faith to trust all truth; patience and insight to master difficulties; stability to hold fast our tradition with englightened interpretation to admit all fresh truth made known to us, and in times of trouble, to grasp new knowledge readily and to combine it loyally and honestly with the old; alike from stubborn rejection of new revelations, and save us from hasty assurance that we are wiser than our fathers, Save us and help us, we humbly beseech thee, O Lord."

George Ridding, 1824 - 1905

How fab is that!!? - Good old "Toilet Prayers" Liking this "regular feature" - also liking the word "beseech"!

Roseylea · 21/09/2007 11:42

Hellooooooooo! Good pryer, CD! Very apt for the changing times in which we live.

Well done on being an Egghead, Mary! Sounds like great fun!

Suze I'm praying for your coursework. And for great peace.

And NQGU I'm praying for your ds.

CD thanks for asking; I'm doing alright atm! I have to go back for another chest x-ray in 3 weeks but I'm feeling fine. There may be something wrong with my right lung (causing all these chest probs) but you know, I have such peace about it - my life is in God's hands and "not even a sparrow" and all that.

Anyway, gotta run and make ds's lunch before collecting him from nursery - he gets all upset (ie huge tanty) if his lunch isn't ready when he gets in - I must educate him out of that before he gets married!

BTW thought for the day - "Some are born mothers, some become mothers and some have motherhood thrust upon 'em" (with apologies to the Bard!)

notsofarnow · 21/09/2007 12:50

All fine in this house - tea prepared, ironing not done, shopping done. Got to go to work for an initial NVQ assesment whatever that means

DutchOma · 21/09/2007 15:38

Oh yes, CD, dh is very much around. He has been very poorly for the past two years and Mumsnet has been quite an escape route for me. He's quite a bit better at the moment, officially retired now and that helps.
Glad to hear of all the busyness and happiness that is going on, congratulations to Mary and, yes, I hope to find out when the broadcast is going to be.
NQGU seven year olds can be hard on themselves, especially boys. Grown men don't always (if ever) understand themselves, so let alone seven year olds. How does dh feel about it?
Rosey, glad you feel a lot better, how did you get on with that very rigid Crohn's diet? I don't think we ever heard any more about it. Did it help?

OP posts:
Roseylea · 21/09/2007 16:19

Hi DO...yes, it must have worked because I'm fine now and can eat whatever I like!

Prayer request from me...dd came home from school today saying that "all her best friends" are saying horrible things about her because of her eczema. From the sounds of it they're ganging up and bullying her - she said that no-one would play with her today "because your skin is nasty" and that they were all laughing at her. She is a bit upset, but I am really really upset! I know I need to talk to the teacher on Monday. It hurts so much when people upset your dc, doesn't it?

ZipadiSuzy · 21/09/2007 16:58

Aw Rosey - major upset there, may god wrap dd in his care and make the children see hurtful ways, I bet your crumbling inside, please take care, and look after yourself.

Mary - Hey you, successful 'Egghead' in with the Dermot well done! look forward to seeing it on the box!

CD - Hia hope you enjoyed your pub visit

NSFN - Wow, can you come to my house and sort us lot out, I am in complete and utter 'mess' 2 hours a day 'homework' makes for no 'housework' plus no tea!!!

Oh well, just started to rain so dh is home and might get fed! YIPEE! Plus looks like the bouncy castle event I am supposed to be doing tonight will be cancelled if it keeps raining, so looks for a pleasurable night! (ish)

notsofarnow · 21/09/2007 18:29

Zip I not always organised but am much better if I plan at the end of the week what we will be eating next week. It was only because it was fish pie that I could make it this morning because I knew it would be hectic otherwise because i had to go to work for an hour till 3p.m.

The ironing still isn't done, the rest of the house is a mess - but we're not tidy people really. But hey ho when there's only me to do the nagging and 4 dc its never going to be tidy is it.

Please pray that I keep my cool this w/e this assertiveness parenting class is making me realise that I only bark nasty things to the dc bec they haven't done ABC. It so gets to me and all I ever do is shout, nag and every time I open my mouth to dd2 its an argument.

Brill to hear the chrons diet worked rosey - so do you only have to do it short term and then your fine or what.

DutchOma · 21/09/2007 20:11

Can you really eat all you like Rosey or do you still have to be gluten free. So sad about dd, I'll send her an e.card with flowers.

OP posts:
Roseylea · 21/09/2007 20:22

Oh thank you DO! You are so sweet! Erm, yes I can eat whatever I fancy! So tonight it was sweet chili falvoured sausages (we don't have them every night, honest!) , chip shop chips (yumm - Friday night treat!) and sweetcorn. I don't have to be gluten free, or anything else free for that matter. Bring on the soda bread! (My fave breakfast - deeply unhealthy - soda bread with real butter and homemade strawberry jam....yummmmmmmm)

The diet I do to bring the Crohns under control is very limited and restrictive and not actually that healthy (very limited fruit and veg) so I couldn't do it for more than 2 weeks anyway. Yummm...I do love food!

notsofarnow · 21/09/2007 20:43

sorry to sound dense so this diet does it just kick start your body into behaving properly? Confused.

Poor dd rosey it's just not fair sometimes is it.

Roseylea · 21/09/2007 20:49

Hi NSFN. NO, it's not fair. I'm feeling v. aggrieved on dd's behalf, but don't want to pass on my anger / sadness to her.

As for the diet...well, yes, it gives the innards enough of a rest so that they can heal, basically. Digesting food is hard work and if you can eat the things that are easiest to digest, you're saving your body a lot of work. The extreme of this, which I have to do sometimes, is to take these drinks which are designed for people with IBD (Crohns etc) which are nutritionally balanced but 0% fibre, and which are "pre-digested" so that your body ahs to do more or less nothing in order to digest the nutrients. Not really sure how it works, but it's better than steroids...

How are you, anyway? How's the parenting course going?

CaptainDippy · 21/09/2007 22:25

Glad it is working, Rosey! I love food too! Your poor, poor DD You must be heart-broken for her. Children can be so cruel. I am so sorry she is experiencing this, it isn't right & it isn't fair. I had pretty bad eczema when I was growing up and I got pretty teased about sometimes too - I'll never forget we were doing "country dancing" as part of some topic or another and no one would let me part of thier circle, as no one wanted to hold my hands as they were covered in eczema. I grew out of it though - I still get flare-ups from time-to-time, but nothing compared to how it was as a young child / teen. So there is hope!

cookiesandscream · 21/09/2007 22:37

Do you think you could offer up prayers for Onlyjoking, she seems such a lovely lady but just has so much going on, her husband Steve has another brain scan on monday and is due to start his chemo treatment on thursday. i really don't know how she does it, she has 3 beautiful kids too
i have CAT her and i am hoping she will let me send her a bit of something if not for her then for their three kiddies.
thankyou in advance and i do hope your don't mind me asking.

CaptainDippy · 22/09/2007 07:11

Hi C&C - Nice to "see" you here - OnlyJoking has been a visitor to this thread herself and we are all thinking of her and praying for her, Steve and their 3 beautiful children - I don't know how she does it either, she is an amazing woman - Thank you for reminding us again, C&C - She needs our prayers more than ever, especially with Steve starting the Chemo soon.

Morning! I don't think I'll ever get used to these early mornings - yuk!!

CaptainDippy · 22/09/2007 07:13

Toilet Prayer!!

"Lord, teach us to understand that your Son died to save us not from suffering but from ourselves, not from injustice, far less from justice, but from being unjust. He died that we might live - but live as He lives, by dying as He died who died to Himself."

George MacDonald, 1824 - 1905.

Notquitegrownup · 22/09/2007 08:18

Great toilet prayer CD!

Rosey - special prayers for your dd, and for you. Praying for a lovely happy weekend for you together. I bet that it wasn't everyone who was saying this. IME it is usually one or two ringleaders and then others who are remaining silent, and who may not agree at all. Does she have friends who come home for playdates? So for her and for you. She can come over here and play with my boys anytime! They would love to see her again!

NSFN - your course sounds very very helpful. I'd love to do something like that!

Glad to hear that dh is happier Sooz.

Many thanks for your prayers for ds1. They helped brilliantly. His new teacher had got wind of what was happening and sat them all down on Friday and dealt with it brilliantly. It is a situation which will come back - it flares up every now and then. But I feel much happier today.

Got to fly. Too too busy.

God bless all.

CaptainCaveman · 22/09/2007 08:55

Good morning gang, I hope you are all jolly and well this fine saturday morning?

Sorry to hear about your dd's friends Rosey, poor little thing. Praying that the teacher is kind and understanding, and is able to offer encouragement to all the children to be kind to one another. Hugs for you too, I cannot imagine how it feels to see your dc upset like that.

Yay Mary, go you egghead!! A famous person in our midst eh? Get you, hob-nobbing with Dermot

Sooz, how is the study going? If you're not working this weekend there's a big event on at the Castle, which apparently is free. Some big inflatable thing to play in etc. Also, Thomas the Tank Engine is at Ruddington all weekend, I think we're taking ds tomorrow.

Praise for your ds's situation nsfn, really glad the teacher is on top of this. Are you feeling ok with it too?

Hello to everyone else too! Panda, I promise to get that CD to you asap...on to it right now . Talking of CDs, Dippy did you get chance to listen to that CD yet? Interested to know what you thought of it, I'm sending a copy to Panda too.

have a great day, whatever you're doing. May you see the Lord and his wonderous works wherever you look. I'm off to play hockey in my NEW skirt - finally got to pick it up yesterday (printed a better map this time). I think I might score today.....

CaptainDippy · 22/09/2007 09:13

Great stuff, NQGU - Praise God! Good to "see" you - often think of you and your lovely boys (all 3 of them) ..... would love to see you all again at some point, had such a lovely time in July.....

Have fun at hockey in your new skirt, CC - but careful though ..... just "in case"!! How's the study going sweetie??

When you refer to "Dermot", you do mean Dermot O'Leary, don't you!!!!?

CaptainDippy · 22/09/2007 09:16

No, CC, I haven't had time to listen to the CD yet. Must find it () and listen to it soon - Will let you know what I think once I have - So kind of you, my lovely!

PandaG · 22/09/2007 10:38

Morning all

Glad that DS's teacher on to things NQGU, is reassuring to hear

Rosey - so for your DD, I would be fuming in your situation. Praying that God gives you wisdom for what to say to the teacher ion Monday, and also how to comfort DD this weekend. Glad to hear that the Chrons is so much beter atm. I am yet another one that loves her food as is obvious when you look at me (double !)

Sooz - how are things with your DH now honey? better I hope.

CC, enjoy the game, praying that you find the time for your coursework too. THe CD would be great anytime you can get it to me, no hurry

NSFN - praying that the parenting course would be really helpful to you, and that you are indeed able to speak tothe DC in an assertive way, and get results. This parenting lark is soooo hard!

Will continue to pray for OnlyJoking and family.

Just had a lovely couple ofdays with an old friend from uni. Her DC are 2 and 4, and my 2 played with them pretty well generally. DH was out last night and DF and I had a great chat over a curry and bottle of wine. I am so blessed with great RL friends, and an online community of friends too! got an MN meet this afternoon - 3 hours at the Spa and then out for dinner, bliss!

Happy Saturdays all.

Notquitegrownup · 22/09/2007 17:13

Hi CD It would be lovely to meet up again sometime. Now what happened to those discussions of a day retreat sometime?! I was looking at the website for Worth Abbey in Sussex/Surrey (always get them mixed up ) recently and thinking how lovely it sounded.

On the other hand, 3 hours at a spa and then out to dinner sounds like a very civilised meet up, Panda!

Still need prayer for me. I'm a grumpy and oversensitive Mummy this week. (Now, who remembers Hector's House?! "I'm a big old, grumpy old Hector . . .!")

CaptainCaveman · 22/09/2007 18:05

haha nqgu, I'm a big grumpy hector too coz I've been trying to study all afternoon and ds has been leaping on me, trying to highlight papers with me, non-stop talking at me. Have done some reading and just about to go and google 'performance measurement'.

We lost at hockey, 2-1, but it was a lovely friendly game. I managed to skin my knuckle on my index finger, which was nice. New skirt is lovely and not at all obscene like my old one

I forgot to say - I scaled Mount Ironing Pile yesteday, by gum that was one heck of a challenge!! At last we can see our dining table once more.

Still bfn - but still got crazy boobs . I keep getting the sensation like the let down reflex when you breastfeed. hmmm. Will test again monday or tues. Going on my normal cycle, af not actually due til next tues/weds.

Gotta go, work MUST be done (before the X factor)

DutchOma · 22/09/2007 18:06

Aww NQGU, don't be down. I'm sure you're not a grumpy mummy.
One of the things I used to do with the kids when we wanted a treat was to make pancakes. naughty but nice. We said they were Dutch pancakes because you could have them any day of the year, not just Shrove Tuesday.
Well, I have come on here to give thanks to the Lord for being able to sing in the regional rehearsal for the Free Church Choir Union festival on 20th October. I didn't quite make the high a's in the Hallelujah chorus, but hey...
