Lord we lift up Your Name.

We give thanks for two new little beanies, Bobsmum's and Podglets?.

We give thanks that Worzella and Roseylea are quite a bit better, we pray for complete healing for both of them.

We also pray for CaptainDippy, not feeling great and struggling with a particularly difficult issue at the moment.

We pray for Podglet as she works through a week of incredible business. Lord we hold her up for Your particular love and care.

We also pray for Mummy2TandF. After the very sudden and unexplained death of her dh she is feeling totally overwhelmed by money worries and grief. Lord uphold her and give her all the practical help she needs. Also help her in answering questions from her ds and help him come to terms with his grief

We also remember Onlyjoking and Steve before the Lord with their three children.

We give thanks with Harrisey that her ds is settling into school and for a few days away. We pray for strength as she copes with the after effects of MIL's childcare

We give thanks with MaryBS for a wonderful holiday and pray for her as she takes up study and essay writing. We pray for her ds and his appointment with the paediatrician on 14th September

Zipadisoozy - prayers for peace of mind concerning ds and his new school. Prayers for him too as he settles into a class with two bullies from his previous school. Let's pray for his protection and right development.
We give thanks, with Marslady for the safe arrival of the two babies she looks after.
We thank the Lord for CaptainCaveman and her ds, who keeps us amused with the wonderful things he comes out with.
We remember Notsofarnow and the difficulties in her relationship with exh. We pray for wisdom

We welcome the new girls Scootergrrrl, Commanderchaos, Sandcastles and Shreksmissus. We pray for Mr Shrek and his very busy life and with him for all dhs who work so hard for their families. May the Lord bless them richly and keep them walking in His way.

Several young children have been brought to our notice for prayer:- Brook Kendrick who lives in Northampton and is very poorly with a heart condition in Great Ormond Street Hospital and C who is known to Bobsmum. He suffers from an inoperable brainstem tumour.

We commit ourselves and all our friends to the care of our great and wonderful Lord and Saviour.

CD - that answers my query whether I like praying with the cross of Jesus hung from the basketball net in a school hall, can't get worse than the toilet where incidently it is the quietest time of the day to concentrate and pray!

Mary - my prayers continue for you whilst you adjust to 'Aspergers' I forget who mentioned it, (may have been cc) but I agree, you are still who you are the moment before the diagnosis, prayers for your ds, but I fully understand your sadness I pray God will guide you through it and strengthen you. Wow dd singing in the cathedral, congratulations, me thinks a lump in the throat moment!

MaryBS · 17/09/2007 15:17

Had a fantastic chat with the tutor of my last module. She has made me feel so good about myself its unbelievable! Thank you God for such a fantastic priest!

Oo oo oo, interesting dilemma. I've got the chance to go on Eggheads, but filming is in London on Thursday evening. Hands up who reckons I should go for it (OK, hands down, thought that would be your response!). I really ought to be working on my essay though... . Its a team of left handers.

ZipadiSuzy · 17/09/2007 15:50

Mary - Fabulous Priest just the encouragement and confidence boost you needed.

'EGGHEADS' ??????????????? enlighten me as I don't get to see much telly, sounds like a childrens programme or a more modern adult quiz programme. I beg my ignoranous education!

ZipadiSuzy · 17/09/2007 15:52

Mary - sorry I meant 'Tutor' not priest! more der ignoranous moment from Dippy Zippy

mufti · 17/09/2007 15:58

ooh mary ,go for it!
i love eggheads, every time dermot says , "can they be beaten?", dh says "ive got a big stick!"

MaryBS · 17/09/2007 16:02

Sooz, she's priest AND tutor. Or a priest who tutors. Our tutor are generally either priests or lay ministers.

Eggheads is a quiz where a team goes up against a team of "Eggheads". The so-called egg-heads are former quiz show champions (such as Judith Kepple who won millionaire). We'd be a team of lefthanders. I've never met the others, we all subscribe to the "anything lefthanded" website. Its on BBC2 at 6pm weekdays

MaryBS · 17/09/2007 16:21

Just heard I've got my place on the team... am awaiting more details...

mufti · 17/09/2007 16:34

very exciting , i wonder if it will be shown this series, prize money up to £60k at the mo', did you know?

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2007 16:39

oooh Mary will you be on the telly!!!>???

Lol mufti at big sticks....me thinks I will think of that every time I hear someone say 'can they be beaten!'.

Well girls, PRAISE GOD for I got 77% in my last assignment - thats another distinction!!! Yippee!

Btw, my boobs feel like they belong to someone else. Roll on saturday.....

mufti · 17/09/2007 16:40

he also calls them "smeg heads", aill make sense to red dwarf fans

mufti · 17/09/2007 16:40

"will" make sense

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2007 16:42

Or as Kryten says "smeeeeeeg heeeeeeeds"...

mufti · 17/09/2007 16:44

aha, we are still waiting for the film
i love krytie

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2007 16:47

film,...are they making a film?

I quite like Craig Charles - ds loves watching Takeshi's castle, or the 'funny programme' as he calls it.

mufti · 17/09/2007 16:49

has been rumoured for a long time, dont kno why they havent
isnt craig in corrie now?

CaptainDippy · 17/09/2007 16:58

LOL @ you guys!

Yey for the Distinction CC - Go you - Praise God!

Think you should GO FOR IT, Mary! I'm a leftie too - yey!!

Gotta go before dinner burns .......

MaryBS · 17/09/2007 17:05

There's a team of 6, and 5 get to be on. Someone just said that its up to £60K. Wouldn't that be good - more than £10k each?

I'm a big Red Dwarf fan.

CCM - well done on your assignment and good luck with the boobs...

mufti · 17/09/2007 17:06

yes. last week, 60 something, would be great to beat them, without the big stick

DutchOma · 17/09/2007 17:14

What wonderful news Mary, both about the encouragement from your tutor and about eggheads. Must have a look. Never heard of it. We usually eat at six, hangover from when dh came home at 10 to.
Has anybody actually said you have Asperger's? Just curious.

CCM cogratulations

What a beautiful toilet prayer, CD, is it an actual book? I wondered if you wrote them up yourself.

I've not been diagnosed, but diagnosis is based on how many traits you have, rather than exact science. I fit a lot of the "criteria". I have a friend who has experience of working with people with it, and she said I showed the signs... I know all about people reading up medical ailments. I don't make a habit of it, but last time I did it, I was right and the Dr was wrong!

The tutor I spoke to said (amongst other things) that a lot of people in ministry show the same symptoms, her last rector for instance! While I am probably on the autistic spectrum, its a scale, and people can be higher and lower on the scale. She told me that I would make a good minister and she was extremely impressed with the work I handed in, particularly the reflection. She said she never saw ANY characteristics in me that made her "pause for thought". I raised my concerns about this module - she said if anything is wrong it isn't me, more like my current tutor or the coursework I'm being set. The coursework isn't meant to make you completely stressed out, just to make sure you are learning OK.

podglet · 17/09/2007 17:40

la la la "it's cold out there, there's no kind of atmosphere"

Mary, my close friends DS2 was diagnosed with Aspergers last year. The diagnosis has made a huge difference to their lives. H now gets the help he needs and we feel we can understand him better and help him. She has a fab book on the subject - will get the title from her for you? Yay for Eggheads btw, I like it too!

BTW just to mention quickly how beautiful my grans funeral was. She had planned it all with her vicar some time ago and chose the prayers and hymns herself. It was a moving and emotional service. It ended with the Toccata (can't remember the composer but it has been used in many films) which made us all smile.

Thank yo all for your thoughts and prayers for the last week. Will rejoin this group in earnest now and prayers for all.

bobsmum · 17/09/2007 17:55

Podglet - if you're 7 weeks pg - then snap and congrats!

I've been popping in and out of the due in May thread and trying to get to know some of the folks on there. Millions of names though, so not doing too well yet

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2007 18:35

Just had the following conversation with ds, whilst watching tv...

ds: daddy take your shoes off
(dh duly takes his shoes off, and as ever his feet STINK!)
ds: daddy you stink
me: thats not very nice
ds: daddy's stink has made me dead

followed 2 seconds later by
ds: mummy whats that
(its an advert for listerine)
me: It's mouthwash
ds: is that what mouses wash with

how cute....

Roseylea · 17/09/2007 19:33

Hello all!

Go for the Eggheads Mary! You must let us know when you'll be on!

And hip hip hooray for CCM! I must say that the students on this tread are very clever, what wqith Harrissey and Mary and CCM all getting such fab grades. Maybe it's all that prayer...

Okay, do you want to hear something that dd said to me this afternoon? A good laugh at my expense...She patted my tummy (in, admittely, a rather snug black skirt) and said "Are you sure that's your tummy, Mummy?" So I said, "Yes, of course it is!" Pause. Dd said "Well it doesn't look like your tummy". I foolishly replied "What does it look like then?" Dd giggled, "It looks like your bottom!"

Out of the mouths of babes, eh? Any last vestiges of vanity I once had are well and truly in tatters now..!

CaptainCaveman · 17/09/2007 19:42

Aw Rosey, what can you say to that!? Hope you're feeling physically better even if your vanity needs some tlc

I agree, must be the prayer that helps with the grades!!
