Friday always seems such a busy day here, work, shopping, numerous lifts for other family members, finally ten minutes to sit down top pop in here for a peppermint tea before the whirl starts again.

Lots of rain, lots of sun here, perfect growing conditions. I keep checking seeds that I put in last week to see if they have germinated.

I hope everyone finds some sparkle today.

OP posts:
WrappedInBitsOfSilver · 03/05/2019 19:10

My sparkle was seeing the bluebells looking dazzling in the sunshine - there have been showers on and off all day, interspersed with gorgeous sunshine. I love spring!

speakout · 03/05/2019 20:23

WrappedInBitsOfSilver

I love spring too! We have just had half an hour of heavy snow! In May.

How amazing. I am feeling very tired tonight, I hope "Blanktimes" teapot has plenty magic as I just need lots of Peppermint tea right now.
My body aches in every part fom my yoga class yesterday. I am feeling humbled, and wondering if I am too old for this game. I thought I was fit, ( late 50s, ) but I am so tired after the yoga class yesterday.

I will have a spa shower tonight, I have ordered a few essential oils for my own use, Bergamot- I think that was being talked about the other day here, Geranium, Lime and a few others. I have found a really good ebay supplier of essential oils- they also have a website, but they are really inexpensive, big range and free postage. I don't work for them or supply, and I don't want to post here, but I have been very happy with the quality, pm if you would like to know the details.
I only mention this as I have found ordering oils online a bit hit or miss. Companies like Boots or Holland and Barrett are good, but often pricey. There are good herbalist stores in the city but again £££
I have tried a number of online suppliers and have been disappointed a number of times.

Equally if any of you know of good supppliers I would love to hear.

Bright Blessings.

Wrappedinbitsofsilver Deacon Blue fan?

speakout I don't know what's happened to me, but after my last run on Sunday (!) something is up with my leg - hamstring down to lower calf. Annoying.

I am using aromatherapy oils too. Someone bought me Aromatherapy Associates stuff on my birthday - gorgeous but so expensive!!

haven't seen or heard a fox for ages. In the urbs, I don't get to see much so I like to see the foxes.

InTheTempest · 04/05/2019 08:39

Just popping in to say hope everyone had a lovely Beltane.... I'm considering going to Avebury again today. My DC are with the ex so I will at least have more time for contemplation, can walk a bit further too. I do love taking them though.

A spa shower sounds a fab way to start the day!

VioletCharlotte · 04/05/2019 10:07

Morning. The start of a well needed three day weekend.. how lovely!

I'm going to a past life regression workshop this afternoon, so feeling pretty excited about that. I've done a little bit of past life work previously and have always found it fascinating and insightful. I'm looking forward to delving deeper. Would be really interested in others experiences.

IntheTempest enjoy Avebury, I do love it there and plan to go again very soon. I think you must live fairly near to me, from what you've said about your proximity to Avebury and Glastonbury.

Rosa I hope your leg is feeling better this morning, sounds painful!

Speakout I've only done power yoga once at it wiped me out for about a week. It's really tough! Do you usually do normal Vinyasa? Hope you are feeling better this morning. I would be interested to know where you buy your oils please. 😊

7Days · 04/05/2019 10:59

How strange Speakout, yesterday for the first time in ages I really wanted to buy some essential oils, specifically geranium, but got bewildered at the sellers and options and gave up.
I was thinking I'd love someone to give me a recommendation - and today, for the first time in ages clicked on the witchy thread. And there's my answer.
Isn't that lovely?
Could you pm me please the supplier you used.

speakout · 04/05/2019 11:41

Hi, I will just post the link for the essential oils- they are called Freshskin, I think they have a website, but they also sell on ebay, www.ebay.co.uk/usr/uk-freshskin?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

The oils are really good quality, and amazingly cheap. Free postage too - on ebay anyway, I don't know about their website.

speakout · 04/05/2019 11:48

VioletCharlotte No I have never done any Vinyasa yoga before, so in at the deep end!
I have a little muscle ache, but feel OK, I will be back again next week.

7Days Isn't synchronicity lovely when it happens!

THis type of thing happens to me several times a day.

OP posts:
YashmisCrone · 04/05/2019 12:12

I love synchronicity with the essential oils Smile

I’m joining Violet in welcoming the 3 day weekend with open arms! It’s lovely to read what everyone’s plans are- some interesting stuff going on!
Really interested to hear about your past life event Violet it’s something I find fascinating.

No big plans here- some jobs to do, family visits etc. As ever I’m looking forward to the pottering around at home parts the most-It’s sunny and windy so I’ve got some laundry magic in progress! I need to pop into the city- not something I relish on a Saturday!

I read about this tradition of ‘telling the bees’ earlier

www.amusingplanet.com/2019/04/the-adorable-custom-of-telling-bees.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR2x_aSLB1RnmUWdseCvMcCtR7Gr5YSil9Y57dOx0I0I38V0TWkyyon6r2g

I love learning about customs and traditions. Apart from the superstitious fear based elements (if you don’t do it something bad will happen) which I think have a flavour of controlling patriarchal religion, I love the way so many of them link to our connection and interdependence with nature and other creatures.

I particularly like bees- to me they symbolise a productive team, a harmonious home. I’ll use symbols of bees for this purpose in spell work.

I hope everyone has a magical day 💫

I would love to plant a garden with bees in mind too, but I haven't lived anywhere with so much as a balcony since I left for university. I am really looking forward to having a garden from August! (Any tips, very gratefully received)
I spent three days in Harris and Lewis, the stones were brilliant (but very windy and it hailed) and we had a gorgeous afternoon on the beach, beautiful white sand and turquoise water (like the gin bottle) and shining sun. I went in to the water! It was a perfect bealtaine day.

SalemSpellman · 04/05/2019 15:46

@YashmisCrone thank you for the link to the bees, it's something I talk about often! I have a book called "Red Sky at Night," which is full of useful information.

My maternal grandfather was and my mum is a beekeeper. I believe in giving the bees the upmost respect at all times.

I have some sweet peas from my witchy gran, I'm planning to plant them into a big planter with my toddler DD tomorrow. I want to get her untested at a young age.

Elphame · 04/05/2019 16:15

That incense looks lovely "speakout*.

Just back from the open public ritual - very tired as usual. It always hits me afterwards. Lovely day for it but the wind was much colder than it should have been and I was glad of my borrowed cloak ( I don't do cloaks!).

We were planting sunflowers in the ritual :) Bees love them.

LongingToBeByTheSea · 04/05/2019 20:02

Evening all. It's been a while since I posted but I stop by and read most evenings. It's my little bit of me time whilst lying with my little people waiting for them to fall asleep.

I'm so sorry for your loss @Mistymount He looks like a lovely dog. I'm sure he was a character, he has that look about him

On the subject of essential oils, I got a book on them in The Works last week which I've enjoyed reading through. It's the Neal's Yard Remedies one. I need to buy some more so thanks for the link @speakout I shall have a look. Your incense sounds lovely, do you make many other combinations?

It's been very difficult here recently with lots going on with various family members. I've struggled to find time for myself so am trying to make it a priority before things get on top of me completely. I wanted to ask @VioletCharlotte a question if that's ok? I enjoy reading about the various groups/events etc you go to. Many sound interesting to me but after a quick google and FB search, I can't seem to find much around here. How do you find out about your events? Maybe I'm not looking in the right places!

We've been trying to get our garden sorted out into some kind of usable space over the last few weeks. It's looking so much better now and I'm enjoying filling it with lots of plants and herbs. I've inherited a decent sized Eucalyptus tree from a relative which I'm not sure what to do with...Everything else is in pots due to the type of space we have so I can move them around which has been useful. We'll see how long they last before I manage to kill them all 😂

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend. Blessings to all

VioletCharlotte · 04/05/2019 21:54

@LongingToBeByTheSea
Most of the events I go to are advertised on Facebook. My yoga teacher is brilliant and she also organises workshops and women's circles. Through these I've got to know other people and add them on Facebook and find out about their events.

The spiritual development groups I go to, and things like the past life workshop I did today are through the spiritualist church. Again, I've met people through my local group and got to know people in other areas.

What sort of events/ groups are you interested in? I'll give you some ideas on what to search for if you like.

CircumzenithalArc · 04/05/2019 22:38

riverliedje Harris and Lewis sound wonderful I can't believe you got in the (presumably freezing) water.
Any advice for your garden? Bees love indigenous plants the most, flowers that have the nectar and pollen easily accessible like Sunflowers. No Roses, no flowers with complicated overlapping petals. Bees adore lavender. Lavender is amazing. Get a load of wild flower seeds.
Use an area to make a herb garden. Rosemary grows really well.

Speakout I tend to get my essential oils from Holland and Barrett or Neil's Yard and they're so pricey. Thanks so much for the recommendation.

Elphame it's been really chilly we've been caught in the odd hailstorm here, great you've planted some sunflowers. Sunflowers are the best.

VioletCharlotte how was your past life session? I find that an area of interest.

New moon tonight. I'll be connecting with her energy. Blessings all x.

speakout · 05/05/2019 07:44

Good morning everyone.

Trying to stir myself this morning, had an early night last night and a great sleep.
And no real plans for today, a little work, but that's Ok, and some pottering, just my cup of tea!
I have a favourite little "quickie" walk I do several times a week, a quick woodland fix, often just for 5 or 10 minutes.
It seems to be church grounds, I am not sure, it's an old church many hundreds of years old ( still in use) but no clear distinction or boundary between church grounds and adjacent woodland .

I went yesterday for my fill and found some discarded bottles, juice cartons, carrier bags and an old wet towel of all things.
Made me quite cross to see the disrepect of nature like this.
I picked everything up, put into the carrier bag and put the lot into the wheelie bin at the back of the church.

And it felt really good. I have decided to keep a small litter kit with me, and pick up litter in my local woods when I see it. I will keep some latex gloves and some carrier bags tucked in my bag wherever I go.
It is another way I can honour the goddess.

OP posts:
InTheTempest · 05/05/2019 08:29

Morning everyone

speakout thank you for the link for the essential oils- I can't get over the price of them! I've been buying all of mine from Starchild but the price difference is astounding.

I hate seeing litter around, that's a simple and perfect way to honour the goddess.

rivierliedje I'm very jealous, Harris and Lewis sound beautiful! Long long way from me.

YashmisCrone and SalemSpellman I loved reading that article about 'telling the bees'. I've never heard of that before.

Elphame hope you enjoyed it outside yesterday, it was truly bitter and felt more like March than May! I wished I had worn gloves!

LongingToBeByTheSea that must be really satisfying, getting your garden up together. I want to start planting some things with the DC, I will try some of CircumzenithalArc's suggestions.

VioletCharlotte I'm at the beginning of the bus route that goes through Avebury and on to Devizes Grin

Avebury was beautiful yesterday, despite the cold weather. It was the first time that I've been by myself and I loved it. I did the guided tour of the stones as I had no children to chase around Grin and that was really interesting. Later on in the field opposite the pub there was a Beltane gathering which was nice to watch.

Someone told me I had a bright energy around me, which is strange because I feel pretty depleted a lot of the time. Or maybe not depleted but struggling to use energy how I would like. My concentration is poor a lot of the time and perhaps need to work on this.

VioletCharlotte · 05/05/2019 10:09

Morning everyone

It's a beautiful bright and sunny morning here and I'm sat outside having a coffee. Woke up feeling low so decided to go out for a walk in the forest. It was really quiet, no one else around, just me and the trees and the birdsong and I just had the most amazing spiritual experience. I'm still trying to process it, so will share more later, but I feel totally at ease now, and that no matter what the world throws at me, I can deal with it ❤️💫

IntheTempest I've been to Avebury a few times, but I enjoyed it most when I went in my own. I

Speakout taking a bag and collecting rubbish when you're walking is a great idea. You've inspired me to do the same when I'm out dog walking 😊

BlankTimes · 05/05/2019 10:59

Morning everyone.

Speakout you are now a Guardian of the Forest, many people "adopt" a site or area of land they love and keep it tidy, they are all drawn to do so, I think your walks etc. there now will be even more meaningful.

Everyone who has found the time to go and visit ancient places, I'm sure they appreciate it. I'm so pleased you all enjoyed your time with the stones.

In the Tempest try mindfulness to help with concentration, if you're in the present moment...

Loyaultemelie · 05/05/2019 11:35

Good morning everyone!

Violet that sounds like a truly magical experience and definitely just what you needed.

Blank "Guardian of the forest" is a great way to describe it, Speakout I understand exactly what you mean about the disrespect of nature making you feel cross.

Rivier Harris and Lewis should amazing!

I'm not looking forward to today as we are going to see DHs elderly auntie for the first time since I fell and along with the pain aspect she really drains me. She is an extremely negative person and treats Dh and dds dreadfully which I try to shield a bit, and I always leave there with a splitting headache and very down. I would go nc but Dh is very much of the I have to she was my
Dads sister. I have a little mirror with me to try and deflect some of the negativity.

speakout · 05/05/2019 12:33

VioletCharlotte

That sounds an amzing experience in the forest- I look forward to hearing about it when you are ready,

Blanktimes "Guardian of the Forest" I love it. It does seem a special place. Every time I go to this patch of woodland I am alone- I have never seen anyone else there. So it does seem like my special place.

Loyaultemelie you are more understanding of your OHs aunt than I would be I'm afraid. I would simply not go, OH could go alone, but I won't subject myself aor my children to situations if they can be avoided.

Smile and say little, keep the visit short,

OP posts:
InTheTempest · 05/05/2019 14:40

VioletCharlotte that sounds like a lovely experience and sounds like it has given you a lot of strength when you needed it.

BlankTimes thanks for the tip re. mindfulness, I will look into that some more. I also thought learning to meditate might help, it's not something I've ever really tried much.

Loyaultemelie you are far more patient than me. As speakout suggested, I would let him go alone and not subject myself and the children to it. I hope the visit isn't too draining Brew and Cake needed when it's over, maybe Wine!

rivierliedje · 05/05/2019 15:01

Circum I did get in, only up to my thighs though, and still wearing leggings. It actually felt fairly warm, certainly warmer than at home, but that might have been the heat of the sun that day.
Thank you for the garden tips. The garden already has an enormous rosemary and some rhubarb neither of which seem to need any tending. I'll start with some more herbs and get a nice wildflower mix, then see from there.

speakout It makes me angry too, when I see rubbish strewn everywhere. Have you heard of Surfers against Sewage ? You do not have to be a surfer/have any interest in surfing to find them helpful. They organise clean ups of natural areas, usually beaches. Similary there is Plogging which is litter picking and jogging and Paddle and Pick for stand up paddleboarding. It has surprised me how much litter can be found even in the most remote of places. Usually from marine industries (large ropes, buoys, nets, buckets etc). It is really quite sad.

Violet That sounds really wonderful. I am on call today and always wary of venturing too far from home/anywhere where there might not be much of a signal. I'll have to find a small, local, green walk today.

loyaultemelie It can be really difficult to go see people who are so draining. I am not very good at it, but the best way I have seen people deal with these things, is to go in with an agenda. Have a known time you are leaving, list of positive and light things to say/stories to tell, have reasons to leave the room (tea, cake etc) and just be relentlessly cheerful. Or if at all possible go to the cinema/for a walk etc where you can not just stare at each other and don't have to make as much conversation.
