beehivemind A huge welcome, I am so glad you found the courage to delurk. The kettle is always on, grab a cushion and a comfy spot.

VioletCharlotte

Some Solar energy for anyone who needs a boost right now. I love working with Sun energy, great to keep flagging spirits going, to get projects going, to provide a deep long flare. Orange is one of my favourite fragrances.
Take some zest if you need it.
Bright Blessings.

Pottering nicely - been picking flowers for my Blodeuedd jar. I can't wait to finish this! It's looking lovely ( that's a normal size jar beside it to show how big this jar is!).

Speakout
Orange energy is just what I need at the moment, thank you for posting.

Elphame
That jar is fab!

Apologies to anyone who I've not got back to with a reading yet. This week's been a bit up and down and my energy is all over the place. I'll get back to you all as soon as I can, I promise 🙏

Loyaultemelie · 01/06/2019 16:02

Speakout I love your solar energy, gratefully received here!

Beehive welcome, glad you have joined us.

Elphame that jar is spectacular!

A day of tinkering here, Dh is working and dd1 is staying out of the way after her graffiti art has been discovered in several places around the house. I'm enjoying the peace and have made some little bottles of oils and tried some new incense.

SalemSpellman · 01/06/2019 16:13

Welcome @beehivemind, I love your name and the stone you found.

I'm having some time out in my she shed, lying on the nice fluffy rug on garden sofa I bought for £10.

My lovely gran has given me two huge crates of plants for my garden, I'm looking forward to planting them knowing they have been started out with my gran's tender loving hands.

FitzsFool · 01/06/2019 17:03

Hello!

Lovely sunny energy in the discussion today.

I like the orange energy, Speakout. I can see why orange is an important colour for Buddhists, it has a very zingy energy!

I have some bright orange calendula in my garden that just pops.

I think I might have a shower with orange essential oil tonight, it's been very hot here today and I like the chance to cool down in summer evenings.

Thanks for the orange inspiration!

BlankTimes · 01/06/2019 17:21

On the sunshine theme Smile

Are they calendula officinalis marigolds Fitz the old fashioned pot marigolds?
If so, the petals scattered in a green salad not only make it zing to your eyes, it's like eating sunshine too.

chestnutherbs.com/calendula-sunshine-incarnate-an-edible-and-medicinal-flower/

Culpepper says it is a:
'herb of the Sun, and under Leo. They strengthen the heart exceedingly, and are very expulsive, and a little less effectual in the smallpox and measles than saffron. The juice of Marigold leaves mixed with vinegar, and any hot swelling bathed with it, instantly gives ease, and assuages it. The flowers, either green or dried, are much used in possets, broths, and drink, as a comforter of the heart and spirits, and to expel any malignant or pestilential quality which might annoy them. A plaister made with the dry flowers in powder, hog's-grease, turpentine, and rosin, applied to the breast, strengthens and succours the heart infinitely in fevers, whether pestilential or not.'

BlankTimes · 01/06/2019 17:23

Forgot to say the African marigolds Tagetes are NOT edible. Just don't!

FitzsFool · 01/06/2019 17:37

Yes Blank Times, I believe they are, I planted them as a companion plant for runner beans though I had heard they had lots of culinary and medicinal qualities of their own. I've so much to learn about gardening but I'm learning lots this year and I'm very interested in planting anything that can be useful for eating or a little touch of magic.

Might just nip outside now and have a little nibble....

speakout · 01/06/2019 17:45

Glad to hear everyone enjoyin the sun energy.
I'm afraid I don't know the type of Marigold. I bought a wild flower seed mix last year and threw them about in a haphazard fashion, I didn't keep the packet.

Elphame · 01/06/2019 18:12

Calendula officinalis makes a lovely soothing skin salve too. I don't know why I don't grow it myself - I really should.

There is a lovely patch growing wild down the road but as my dog wees on it I suspect half the neighbourhood dogs do as well so it's unmolested.

FitzsFool · 01/06/2019 18:43

Elphame I'm definitely going to have a go at making a salve. I'm going to start the process of making the infused oil tonight.

True alchemy, harvesting from the plants around us and using them to nourish our bodies and minds.

I'm grateful for the inspiration tonight.

beehivemind · 01/06/2019 18:44

Thank you SalemSpellman and everyone else for the lovely welcome.

I'm working towards a she shed and will surround it with pots of lavender Smile

WrappedInBitsOfSilver · 01/06/2019 18:51

speakout thank you for the zesty boost - just what I needed!

SalemSpellman · 01/06/2019 23:27

This is the outside of my she shed where all my herbs will go. A work in progress but, I'm getting there.

SalemSpellman That looks lovely, it's so much fun to have a prpject on the go like that. I love your lamp post, it looks like the one from Narnia!

OP posts:

Just having a morning coffee while I lie in bed before getting up.
I have my tin candles too finish off, it takes two days, I have to allow them to cool before adding the finishing layer and put on labels.
First is a gym trip at 9am, then take my mother to church, before starting work.
Have a magical day.

@speakout I have an interesting story about the lamp post. A few years ago I said to my husband, I want a lamp post for the garden. He raised his eyebrows and said "done deal." He had seen one put out for scrap the day before and had knocked the door to see if he could have it as he had a feeling I would really like it. It was at his work being tidied up for me. It was completely free!

He also knows I want an old red phone box, the universe hasn't provided me an affordable one yet, but I have faith!

VioletCharlotte · 02/06/2019 10:32

Salem your shed is fab, I really love it. Great story about the lamp post. You and your DH must be very much in tune with each other.

Enjoy the gym Speakout I'm looking for some weekend morning classes. I feel I need something to get my up and going.

DS1 is off on holiday today so il taking him to the airport. Not really looking forward to a 4 hour round trip, but I'm telling myself it's worth it as he's going to have a fantastic time!

Loyaultemelie · 02/06/2019 10:33

Salem I love that lamppost, even more with its history. Dh is also on the lookout for an old red phonebox somewhere!

Elphame yes I made some salve last year, everyone was glad of it. Missed the boat this year though as I didn't get to choose my plants and a friend of ours did a makeover while I'm out of action. (Can't complain it was in order to bring some colour where I could see out)

We all seem to be in a lazy mood this morning, will have to get ourselves moved!

Elphame · 02/06/2019 13:45

@SalemSpellman - love the she shed and that's a great story about the lamp post. He sounds like a keeper. My DP found a couple of ancient iron cauldrons whilst he was helping to clear out the cellar of a Methodist church. No one claimed them so he brought them home for me!

Just had a quite magical walk with the dog in the soft summer rain. The plants I moved outside are loving it too. The Brugmansias are already showing flower buds but I am worried about the salvias. They didn't over winter happily at all. I am keeping my fingers crossed that plenty of light outside will sort them out.

FitzsFool · 02/06/2019 16:41

Salem I am also loving the Narnia lamp post, what a great find! Good luck developing your She Shed into a space for you.

Violet hope the 4hr trip was as ok as a 4hr long trip can be.

Speakout what a productive morning for you. You give out a lot of get up and go energy, it's inspiring.

Elphame you sound very in tune with your garden, I aspire to your level of green-fingered witchery!

Warm wishes to anyone I missed, hope all here have had a good day.

I'm having to make a concerted, conscious effort to create an environment of peace and contentment here at home. Family life continues to be a challenge but I have suddenly faced up to my own responsibility in this and am trying hard to approach each part of the day as mindfully and as calmly as possible.

Any strength you can spare to send my way would be gratefully received!Grin

Have a lovely evening all.x
