I love the pumpkin/squash displays too! Halloween Grin

Sounds like a lovely day Violet
Interesting what you say about teens opening up more in the open air- I hadn’t thought of that but can see that that’s been the case IME too

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/10/2018 18:45

I am almost embarrassed to admit that I am currently in the process of roasting our pumpkins. Not a fan of carved pumpkins, but rather a fan of eating them Halloween Blush 1st half is roasting atm, seeds and 2nd half are waiting their turn for oven space.

That said I need to pop into aldi tomo and those little pumpkins are gorgeous as a display. I have fabric ones I have made for display, but it is never quite the same as the real thing ime. Autumn still feels a bit odd this year. Can't put my finger on why though and it is bothering me. Anyone got any ideas?

Elphame · 19/10/2018 19:05

Anyone got any ideas? I feel it's much too warm! - its' almost t shirt weather still. I'll be glad when the temperatures drop as forecast for next week

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/10/2018 19:24

Even when it is snowing it is t-shirt weather for me Halloween Blush Although it is not the heat per say that is the issue, we have had warm autumn before and they haven't felt like this (or at least not that I have noticed)

I was putting more of a mind to breaking down the "off" feeling, and I am wondering if I am picking up some sort of vibe from all the old trees that are succumbing to the weather at the moment. So many have fallen, split or are being felled for safety reason. It is like nature isn't happy, like it is waiting for something bad. And half the time I am wondering if I am being paranoid, the other half if it is for me that the bad things are coming or just in general. What ever it is the trees feel wrong, and autumn feels off atm.

I am curious to see if I get the same off vibe when I travel in a week, to see if it is localised or wider.

(what ever it is epsom salt baths are great places to think and ponder after a long week)

Physica · 19/10/2018 19:48

I’ve been feeling ‘off’ about this autumn too but have been putting it down to the heat @HillsBesideTheSea. Will give it some more thought/ attention. I’m in the South East - where are you?

speakout · 19/10/2018 20:16

Yes feels odd because of the weather, some lovely high pressure systems, but getting too warm though the day.

On a personal note, it's hard to be objective, family dynamics have changed, when my youngest was still here Halloween had a child aspect to it, so making adjustments for that.

Hello lovely ones

Just checking in to say hello and to listen to all the stories around the Aga.

I’ve had a good week and I’m grateful for that 😊 I’ve been trying to work on myself and not get so stressed about (every!) things. I feel as if I’m in a good place - feeling calmer overall and yet more energised. I’ve also been practising my Tarot card readings to see if what I sense is also reflected in the reading. So far it has been very much a mirror and I have also found that interesting. It has also given me the chance to learn more about the meanings of the cards (as I have to look them up).

I would particularly like to thank whoever said - speak to yourself as a grandmother would speak to a child and ask her to come close. That has been incredibly fulfilling for me. It may have been you @speakout

I don’t think that I would have had the ability or encouragement to do any of the above with the support and knowledge offered here in this thread.

Thank you all oh wise ones. Blessings!

speakout · 20/10/2018 09:07

GeeIneverthoughtofthat

Glad you find comfort in nurturing your child energy.

I have grown to love that little lost girl inside me, and I know it comforts her.
It has also nurtured me being able to do the same thing to my own daughter. To be emotionally available and supportive to her at the age where I was let down has really healed me. My daughter and I are like identical twins- in looks, a lot of our personality and nurturing her has also helped to heal me.
She has strong wings and a faith in herself.
This also has been shadow work for me.

Morning everyone.
Woken up with a bit of a cold so having some licorice and cinnamon tea. I have slept longer than usual but have to work for a few hours this morning making spell kits.
I will snatch in the work time before DD wakes up.
DS will be asleep for a while too, as he was out with his friends last night ( they are lovely guys) which is good,
I have sent OH out to the supermarket and he can be noisy around the house- I have the art of being stealthy and quiet. I also have the ability to be invisible- but that is another conversation!

Wishing everyone a blessed witchy weekend!

Sorry I meant to reply last night (accidentally fell asleep before hitting post) I am in the Northwest "Physica" will be heading Southwest when I go adventuring so it will be interesting to see how it all compares.

Speakout hope you have a good day today. Do you get accused of creeping and sneaky up on people because you walk so quietly? Constantly gets me in trouble even when I am trying to make noise when I walk. Which is a problem when it is customers.

Taking the day slowly as I have been burning myself out recently. Roasted some more of the pumpkin and done some crafting before I start the day properly. A very gentle start to the day before the crazy wakes up. About to go make some fresh pumpkin seed bread having failed to find a pumpkin bread that is allergy friendly. Would love to get out on the hills but I think that is going to be impossible until Wednesday.

Sorry Physica should have emboldened rather than quoted. I do wish mn had an edit button sometimes.

I startle people every single day.

I have been like this as a child. People I know don't notice me in public.
People often walk into me or back into me.

Not a day passes when I don't make someone jump out of their skin.

It's not deliberate, it's as if I don't have a solid presence- over the years I have found I can switch it on and off!
If I need to be served in a busy shop I can increase my visibility.
But if I want to cruise around supermarket unnoticed I can do that too.
It's particularly useful if I see people in public that I don't want to speak to- it's easy to float by within feet of them totally unnoticed.

I often thought I would have made a good spy!!

A very useful skill!

Giggorata · 20/10/2018 10:18

Hello witchy ones,

speakout, I can do this sometimes, too, and it comes in very useful, as in the time I got the dates of an international flight wrong and came home with yesterday's train ticket Blush

I am looking forward to a restful weekend, doing some scenery painting for the big event at work next week, and just pottering.
I did a charm last weekend, which I might reinforce this weekend; instinctively, I have gone for a more VooDoo/Santeria approach, with adding more candles and burning them down, rather than just the one.

Thinking of you both, Queen and Corner Flowers

VioletCharlotte · 20/10/2018 10:21

Just dropping in to say good morning. Started my Saturday in my favourite way with an exercise class, followed by coffee and a bun. (it's all about balance!) It's a lovely day here again today. I'm looking forward to a nice country walk with my dog, then this evening I'm going to a wedding reception. I don't normally enjoy large social gatherings, but the bride is a work friend, and a truly beautiful sole, so I have a feeling I may enjoy this one 😊

Speakout the idea of you sneaking up on people has made me smile 😃 A very useful skill!

Bellecose2 · 20/10/2018 10:42

Morning everyone,

@speakout I like the idea of becoming invisible to people I don't like too. Now and then, if I catch sight of someone that I'm not keen on I try to banish them from my thoughts or, if not , I know I'll see them everywhere. So annoying when that happens.

MawkishTwaddle · 20/10/2018 10:52

Good morning everyone!

I'm feeling a bit depleted at the moment. My dp is still recovering, I'm running three jobs, my familiars are in the kennels so I have no reason to go out walking (not that I would have the time) and I can't get to my allotment. And instead of spending my free day filling the well, I have to go visit my elderly parents whom I've neglected this week, and take them some food.

My reserves are running low, that's for sure. Any tips?

speakout · 20/10/2018 10:55

MawkishTwaddle

Taking care of yourself is so important.
Do you have to cook for your parents?
Could you cut the visit short and explain you are not feeling great?

I am sure they would appreciate even a 30 minute visit rather than several hours.

OP posts:
MawkishTwaddle · 20/10/2018 10:58

Hi Speakout.

I do really. They're not in the best of health and their mobility is compromised. They're not feeding themselves properly so my sisters and I are trying to make sure they're not malnourished.

I won't stay long but they're about an hour away so a visit does cut into the day somewhat.

Can't be helped.

speakout · 20/10/2018 11:02

Sorry to hear that.

Could you arrange for a chinese meal to be delivered tonight instead and maybe a grocery delivery tomorrow?

OP posts:
MawkishTwaddle · 20/10/2018 11:43

They're very much meat-and-potatoes, Speakout but I might do the same for myself tonight and save cooking!

speakout · 20/10/2018 12:13

MawkishTwaddle

My mothers friend lives alone, early dementia, relies on carers, not rich by any means uses Wiltshire farm foods.
She enjoys them, not too expensive, and they deliver.

Maybe not for every meal, but a good back up for them in the freezer.

OP posts:
speakout · 20/10/2018 12:15

I don't work for Wiltshire farm foods BTW!!

OP posts:
MawkishTwaddle · 20/10/2018 12:26

Speakout I'm working on them with regards to Wiltshire Farm Foods. As you might be able to intuit, they're not the easiest of parents...

VioletCharlotte · 20/10/2018 12:36

Mawkish sorry you're having a difficult time. Try and carve out some time this weekend for some self-care. Maybe this evening, when you're back from your parents, put your candles on, have a salt bath with some calming oil, then snuggle under a blanket with some nice food.

I'm sure you're missing your dogs so much. Maybe try and get out for a half hour walk in the sunshine anyway to re-energise yourself x
