It seems impossible to my nigh on atheist mind that God would have created the clitoris and not meant us to do something with it. Sure, an obsession with masturbation would be unhealthy as would any obsession IMO, but the organ is one that purely provides pleasure, unless I am mistaken.

As for homosexuality, again I suspect God would rather we loved people of the same sex than we were without love entirely, or made war on each other.

All these things the church is against are just thrown backs to an earlier time I feel.

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 21:57

Awww come on I am so bored here. Won't anyone enter the debate?

how many catholics do you know who live by the bible word for word??

it would be pretty fuckin near impossible these days ill tell you,

i love my god, i love my religion

but i adapt it to my life, as many people do

how many of you were virgins until you were married?

how many of you have never masturbated?

very few i bet

but im sure you still go to church

its unbelievable that i get the piss thaken out of me because i go to church but live and enjoy happy healthy life with my ONE FUCKING PARTNER THAT IVE EVER HAD!!

'fuck the lot of you' - not terribly christian.....or in fact polite !

kittylette · 13/01/2007 22:02

im sorry for swearing, that was not appropriate,

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 22:03

Oh I didn't mean that sort of debate kittylette.

You are jumping to conclusions here. I have no idea who you are or what your circumstances are. I was interested in the debate only, speaking as a one-time Catholic, now verging on complete atheism but still strangely loyal to the church.

kittylette · 13/01/2007 22:03

yeah but its not banter, theres no smiley face, or a wink, and its everytime

lulumama · 13/01/2007 22:03

well, why not explain more of how you feel than swear at other posters? i am genuinely interested in adapting religion to a secular, modernised world,

morningpaper · 13/01/2007 22:05

"fuck the lot of you"

this is also forbidden under Canon Law I'm afraid

lulumama · 13/01/2007 22:05

x post

TBH Kitty....your posts are often at odds with your catholic view on some things eg abortion

yet you are a bisexual, unmarried mum of 2 using contraception, so i;m afraid it does appear that you are picking and choosing, which is at odds with your hardline views on other bits

which is as you say, most people do , but i tend to leave my religious beliefs out of things as it muddies the waters somewhat...

i tend to post from my heart and head and leave god out of it

morningpaper · 13/01/2007 22:05

although again it would make a lovely evening's entertainment

southeastastra · 13/01/2007 22:05

hehe (again)

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 22:06

i understand this, and thats why i posted about my conflicts

i do believe in god,

and he made me the way i am, i believe that

but if he made me this way then why does the bible say its wrong?

morningpaper · 13/01/2007 22:07

Group lesbian sex, hurrah!

Can we have a fondue as well?

kittylette · 13/01/2007 22:08

its just a touchy subject

because i cant deny myself, but i cant deny my god either, iykwim

PeachyClair · 13/01/2007 22:08

Seems to me in this, as in many things, the catholics should let people find their own truth in the Bible. Three key texts spring to mind on this, as they do on many things:

Judge not, lest ye be judged.
Matthew 7:1

"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself"?Matthew 19:19.

let he who is without sin, cast the first stone

If you can make your own peace with your own God, and I think if your motivation is ultimately love then you probably can, that is all that amtters. Do not worry about others- Someone who is trying to judge you is not truly a Christian anyway.

RE the believe in the Devil bit, the writings of Scheliermacher are an interestinga spect of Christianity, which takes that sort of post enlightenment approach.

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 22:08

Well, it depends on whether you belive the Bible is literally the word of God or whether it was written by men a long time ago living in a world with entirely different values to the ones we have today.
