The Christian Prayer Thread Prays Again...

Welcome to our new prayer thread as winter turns (not quickly enough for some of us...) to spring 2015. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, praying that his medication continues to keep him as well as possible for as long as possible;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS who has been self-harming;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for Operation Flat Tidy;

... BlueTinkerbell, for a problem-free pregnancy with DC4 and a happy outcome;

... CaulkheadUpNorth, who is struggling with MH problems which are affecting her faith, and by extension her job in a church environment; prayer for her access the support she needs, inside and outside the workplace, and for her to find her way back to God, in her own time, if need be;

... ChocolateTeacake, for work and financial worries; and for her health;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths , for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; praying for her relationship with her DD; and continuing to think of her in her life without her beloved Bob;

... FaithLoveandGrace, for her mental health as she undergoes painful, but hopefully helpful, counselling; for her relationship with her DSS; and for her work on her PhD;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... innerstrength100, for strength, hope and joy in her life as she rebuilds her life following the unexpected break-up of her relationship;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process; and praying that her ex is able to see how damaging his current behaviour is for his DS so that, in this at least, he is able to change his ways;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues and for the strength to deal with them;

... MaryBS, in the discernment and selection process for ordination to the priesthood;

... ninetynineonehundred, for her relationship with her DH from whom she is separated but with whom she is still living , praying for healing, trust, love and forgivement for them both;

... Pipbin, following the loss of a desperately-wanted pregnancy, praying for strength, for hope, and for lots of support;

... PositiveAttitude, for her studies, her work situation, and her role within her church; for her and her DH as they consider where their engagement with their faith will take them next; for her mum, who has dementia and her dad who has finally accepted he needs help, but finds it hard to accept it; for her DD1, who has been depressed; and for the whole family;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her health in her new pregnancy;

... QuestionofFaith, thanking God that her DH has found a new job, and praying that this will be the turning-point that he needs to overcome his depression and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and me, Tuo, for my DD2 who has been self-harming, but seems much happier at the moment - please pray for that to continue.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, LollipopViolet, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, PandaG, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Popping in to say thank you Christian prayer thread, things are so much better for us, we have a long way to go yet and we're not out of the woods, not even nearly, but we are finally on that road. Thank you all.

I'll pray for good things for us all.

ZipadiSoozi · 09/05/2015 23:20

Prayers for my brother in law, just come through a 5 hour operation for Prostate Cancer spread to lymph glands so they removed them aswell, bit poorly on a drip sickly at the moment x

SESthebrave · 10/05/2015 08:04

Soozi - prayers for him, his recovery from this operation and his ongoing health.

BES - prayers for your email, that te message lands in the right way to get the right outcome.

HowtoApproachThis - prayers for you that God will be at the centre of this for you.

DO and Amber - what a wonderful trip, praise God! If you get chance please do share more about it.

We are having a great weekend as it was DS's 6th birthday yesterday. We had family time yesterday with some of my family and today is his party. I must be mad but I have 23 of his friends over later...
MIL has her biopsy on Friday so now we await the results.
At work, we have our first meeting tomorrow about the restructure. I would appreciate your prayer for this - my job role is likely to change - to a greater or lesser extent I don't know - and it may mean I get stuck with my current bullying boss or I get a new one...

Dutchoma · 10/05/2015 08:13

Giving thanks with you Fakename, may the Lord guide you on your ongoing path.
Prayers for your bil Soozi I hope he recovers fully and quickly.
SES, well let's hope the restructuring means you get a new boss in the very near future, so that you can again function to your full capacity.

I am still processing much of the Israel trip and wondering what actually happened there. I will need to write things down in longhand (as I have been doing over the week) and then make a short version. I took 146 photos and I think Amber took more than that. We are both still deep in thought, but not together. I got home at 3.30 to find the house in good order.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/05/2015 10:05

pm I hope, not am.

I ought to be getting ready for church. humph. busy day. we are meeting exoutside the home today.no entry. Must find a carrrier bag of his stuff to take Wink

BlackeyedSusan · 10/05/2015 10:25

oops we are now a bit late as I have been playing computer games with ds, without the computer...

lots of toy people and dogs jumping up and down trying to jump on each other.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/05/2015 16:00

urg. time to go get the children. hoping ds is not too cranky after a late night. (one of us is enough)

madhairday · 11/05/2015 17:42

MHD - sorry to hear things aren't great health wise at the moment. Praying....

Thank you all for your prayers re my work situation. I was told more about the restructure today and in 4 weeks I'll have a new boss who just so happens to be someone I was at uni with. Things are looking up Smile

QofF · 11/05/2015 21:48

That's great news Ses.
Mad praying for you.
Oma am glad the trip went well and if you do want to share anything i would love to hear about it.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/05/2015 22:09

get well MHD prayers

great ses.

the evening went relatively smoothly.

operation flat tidy: it still looks a mess but I gave four carrier bags of clothes to my friends and six carrier bags of chaarity shop stuff in the car and 3 bags of stuff to ex, so that must be good right?

Dutchoma · 11/05/2015 22:27

Very good indeed, both BES and SES. Photos are coming out on Facebook, not sure how to get them onto MN.

ZipadiSoozi · 11/05/2015 23:44

SES that is brilliant news for you, bet you can't wait! The power of prayer eh? Xxx

MHD sorry you are still poorly, prayers you get better soon x

DO fantastic holiday, some lovely pictures emerging gradually on Facebook, glad you had a special time with Amber, I used to dictate then write things down when overwhelmed with info x

PositiveAttitude · 12/05/2015 07:05

*SES How lovely to read your update. Answer to prayers.

MHD Praying that your health will improve rapidly.

Here, after 2 weeks in hospital mum is coming home today. Dad has agreed that he needs help and has accepted that he will have carers going in twice a day to help him. My sister and I are not too optimistic that this will last long as we feel that dad has agreed to all this just to get mum home, then will reconsider and insist he can cope!
The last few weeks have been really hard work and sometimes I have felt totally overwhelmed. Not just with mum, coping with dad, but also massive amounts of work backing up and to top it all a letter from DWP saying that I need to pay back nearly £5000 from an overpayment in 2005!!!!! My brother , who is a solicitor, is onto it, but please pray this will be sorted as it is giving me sleepless nights. (No way can we afford to do this!)

BlackeyedSusan · 12/05/2015 10:12

thank god you have a brother who can help.

BlackeyedSusan · 12/05/2015 12:46

one more carrier bag ready to go out of the door.

I should really put the radio off. they are talking about redundancies..which is bringing back memories of over a decade of temporary contracts and lots of rejection.

flat tidying: still a mess. but I have been washing and tidying and flitting about doing a bit here and there. there is definitely more kitchen floor visible, an extra carrier bag of recycling near the door, and the heap in the kitchen is slightly smaller.

Dutchoma · 12/05/2015 13:17

Keep going BES. Are the recycling bags finding their intended goal?

amberlight · 12/05/2015 21:41

Keeping all of you in prayers.
Yes, a couple of hundred photos, and still deep in thought about the whole prayer retreat. It was part of the wider peace process that the church is helping with, though a quiet and thoughtful part. Such a blessing to be in Israel, listening to people from all parts of the world and praying for reconciliation.

TooBusyByHalf · 12/05/2015 22:46

I am such a coward. Thinking of going to church tomorrow lunchtime. So I don't have to tell anyone I'm going! There's a midday communion service at the church next to my office. But I haven't taken communion for about 20 years; I'm not even sure I'll remember what to do, nor in fact whether it would be dishonest to do so. And since there'll be about 3 people there (I expect) I'll feel very exposed. Am I mad to go?

BlackeyedSusan · 12/05/2015 22:54

Our church offers a blessing rather than communion if you prefer. perhaps this one will too.

anyway, please could you pray for dd tomorrow as she has a difficult day.

TooBusyByHalf · 12/05/2015 23:02

Hi BES, yes of course, and that will give me a reason to go - thanks! I know I shouldn't be embarrassed about going, but I'm still not sure if I'm ready to believe in God, or call myself a Christian again, so I can't bring myself to say anything to my atheist family and friends....

Dutchoma · 12/05/2015 23:12

Praying that you will find God again toobusybyhalf. Whether you find Him in church or out of it does not matter, so long as connect with Him in your life.
Certainly praying for dd Bes, I hope it all goes well.

TooBusyByHalf · 12/05/2015 23:41

Thank you Dutchoma. A few months ago I would have hated someone to say they would pray for me, and yet here I am on this thread and liking it so you never know Grin

KayKat · 13/05/2015 01:22

STBXH spoke to DS for the first time in months so I had to spend the evening being told what a terrible mother I am causing him so much stress and how wonderful his dad is and although he fought with his dad in the past that was not down to any fault with his dad but because of my bad influence on him. So I suggested he may be happier to spend the summer with his dad in a calm atmosphere away from all the stress. He then swiftly backtracked and said no his dad does cause him stress in less obvious ways and he has plenty of years to see the place where his dad lives he doesn't need to go and see it yet. Teenagers eh? Suppose I have to judge by his actions rather than his words. It still hurt though.
