The Christian Prayer Thread Prays Again...

Tuo · 31/01/2015 22:31

Welcome to our new prayer thread as winter turns (not quickly enough for some of us...) to spring 2015. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, praying that his medication continues to keep him as well as possible for as long as possible;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS who has been self-harming;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for Operation Flat Tidy;

... BlueTinkerbell, for a problem-free pregnancy with DC4 and a happy outcome;

... CaulkheadUpNorth, who is struggling with MH problems which are affecting her faith, and by extension her job in a church environment; prayer for her access the support she needs, inside and outside the workplace, and for her to find her way back to God, in her own time, if need be;

... ChocolateTeacake, for work and financial worries; and for her health;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths , for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; praying for her relationship with her DD; and continuing to think of her in her life without her beloved Bob;

... FaithLoveandGrace, for her mental health as she undergoes painful, but hopefully helpful, counselling; for her relationship with her DSS; and for her work on her PhD;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... innerstrength100, for strength, hope and joy in her life as she rebuilds her life following the unexpected break-up of her relationship;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process; and praying that her ex is able to see how damaging his current behaviour is for his DS so that, in this at least, he is able to change his ways;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues and for the strength to deal with them;

... MaryBS, in the discernment and selection process for ordination to the priesthood;

... ninetynineonehundred, for her relationship with her DH from whom she is separated but with whom she is still living , praying for healing, trust, love and forgivement for them both;

... Pipbin, following the loss of a desperately-wanted pregnancy, praying for strength, for hope, and for lots of support;

... PositiveAttitude, for her studies, her work situation, and her role within her church; for her and her DH as they consider where their engagement with their faith will take them next; for her mum, who has dementia and her dad who has finally accepted he needs help, but finds it hard to accept it; for her DD1, who has been depressed; and for the whole family;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her health in her new pregnancy;

... QuestionofFaith, thanking God that her DH has found a new job, and praying that this will be the turning-point that he needs to overcome his depression and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and me, Tuo, for my DD2 who has been self-harming, but seems much happier at the moment - please pray for that to continue.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, LollipopViolet, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, PandaG, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

i had a amall wriggly person join me for a significant part of the night. small wriggly person has over inflated ideas of my competance on teh computer and has been shouting at me to fix it.

research will be needed.

shopping and coming home to bed.

Dutchoma · 02/02/2015 08:18

Small wriggly people should be encouraged to fix their only computer problems and not shout at their mothers to do it.

madhairday · 02/02/2015 14:28

Welcome back notquitegrownup - I remember you. :)

Kaykat I'm so sorry. What he is doing is despicable. poor you and poor ds being used in this way. I feel so sad for you and am praying.

Anjelica glad to read he came home. Praying for peace for you in what muust be so much turmoil.

FLaG praying for you.

Caulkhead glad to see you here. Glad you got to go to church and felt you wanted to.

TUO thanks as ever for such a fab round up. It really does help to haveit all written out like that. Thankyou and prayers continuing for your dd2 flowers

Waves to Oma, Bes, Cloutie, PA, QoF and everyone else, and prayers for you all dear prayer thread ladies.

I have got a stinking cold, and worried it will hit the chest soon. sigh! OK though apart from that. DH is feeling fairly down and am a bit worried about him. I think he feels he ought to be showing more 'numbers' in terms of our work but it's not how pioneer ministry works really. There are numbers, just not quanitifable really as yet as it's all over the place in different contexts. He feels sometimes he's failing but i know all ministers feel that way at times. I would love prayers for him, he's not himself.

madhairday · 02/02/2015 14:29

Emoticon fail there! Flowers to Tuo Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 02/02/2015 15:56

thing is, you are never going to know the results until you are cashing in your final bonus....

numbers are nice, reassuring, but faithfulness does not have a measure...

his work is notoriously difficult to quantify.

Anjelica27 · 02/02/2015 21:05

Thanks for your prayers and support Not much success in talking to ds but he is here and safe, thank God. Keeping an emergency phone so I don't find myself stuck again, thanks for that advice - it didn't even occur to me! Refused appointment with psychiatrist today so they will discharge him but managed to persuade psychiatrist to see me tomorrow. Please think of me, trying to make a list of things I need to ask x

QofF · 02/02/2015 21:56

Anjelica, will pray for you re that appointment. Think it's a good idea to write everything down you need to ask. I hope they can advise you on how to deal with things as much as what to do with your ds.
Faith glad you made it to church and I'm glad you have people around to support you.
Praying through for you all.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/02/2015 12:01

morning, just.

eating breakfast after having to drive back to school to drop off dd's homework that I forgot. ds was having one of those mornings. hopefully dd will not have to miss her playtime. took me half an hour to get home though so an hour round trip. that will teach me not to forget again.

Dutchoma · 03/02/2015 12:28

Why doesn't dd remember her own homework?

GingerCurl · 04/02/2015 13:45

Prayers of thanksgiving here. After last academic year with DS crying at the thought of having to go to school, things have gotten progressively better since September with a new teacher. Yesterday morning I heard him skipping around downstairs and singing to himself. When I commented that he sounded happy, he answered that he was happy because he was going to school! Shock Then he corrected himself and said, "well, maybe not happy happy but still happy." Wow! Long may it continue. So, so pleased for him.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/02/2015 13:55

yay GC

ds is getting worse again. supply teacher. not going so well. please pray for ds's regular teacher to come back.

operation flat tidy. well I have done some of the everyday stop it getting worse jobs... hoping to do some get it better jobs later. 2 hour school run soon. though.

innerstrength100 · 04/02/2015 14:36

Hoping New Thread will bring New Lovely Things to all of us.

Hope this week goes better for you Anjelica; so sorry to read about all of your troubles.

FaithLoveandGrace · 04/02/2015 18:25

ginger that's really good news about your DS :)

bes praying for your DS. Do you have a 2 hr school run or did you mean 2 hrs until the school run? A 2 hr school run sounds like very hard work if that is the case!

inner let's hope so!

Fly by message from me as usual lately. Have a meeting with my supervisor tomorrow so need to get my work done before then. This PhD is a love-hate relationship atm - I love it and I'm so grateful to God for this opportunity and to all those who've supported me getting to this point but I hate how exhausting / frustrating the work is at times.

madhairday · 04/02/2015 18:39

Popping by with prayers for all this evening.

Kaykat, how are you?

GingerCurl · 04/02/2015 19:24

Faith I so understand your frustration and fed-uppedness with your PhD. I'll be handing in my amended thesis next month. Eeeeek! I can't tell you how pleased I'll be to see the back of it. I have promised myself that this is the last time I ever, EVER will put new letters behind my name based on assessment. Enough already! Until next time, that is. Me=mug!

BlackeyedSusan · 04/02/2015 19:43

2 hours on the school run. leave the front door 25 mins before pickup to get the car out of the garage and drive to school then park. pick up ds. wait 50 minutes or so to pick up dd from her activity, wait while she packs her bags, goes to the loo, walk back to the car, strap them in, wait for it to demist... drive home in the traffic. put car in garage, walk back to flat. I spend two hours on the school run on a tues, weds, and now friday. monday and thurs include visits to the library which can take an hour or so.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/02/2015 19:50

how is your h mhd?

i have been busy emptying and washing pots in the bathroom basin... plant pots this time, from the children's room. need to resow seeds.

I shall need to wipe down the windowsil before putting them all back again.

I have also been washing the bath toys. ds started it and used half a bar of soap making the water in the basin soup consistency, hence using the soapy water for a purpose. (waste not, want not)

praise god I have lots of warm socks (they were half, half price in aldi) and brown socks for dd's costume. yesterday I bought some red material supposedly for dd's costume. (a remnant) but it is not the sort I wanted. however, it is the much more difficult to find material suitable for mending pe bags. I am thrilled and went back for another remnant this morning. still got to find red patches though. must look in the cupboard.

innerstrength100 · 05/02/2015 08:57

Good luck with your meeting Faith

Anjelica - how did it go with the psychiatrist? Hope you are ok.

QofF · 05/02/2015 09:49

Mad how is your DH? And hows the cold?
Angelica how did you get on?
Ginger Smile re ds, good news!
Feeling a bit meh at the moment, hard to get motivated, bit teary. Seem to have spent a lot of time over the last year feeling either devastated, sad or just ok and would like to experience "happy" again if that doesnt sound too petulent Smile. Even for a short time! Feel a bit worn down. Think I just need spring to arrive, am not very good at winter!

Anjelica27 · 05/02/2015 10:15

QofF, sorry you are not good today, I'm thinking of you. Know how you feel though. As expected the psychiatrist discharged ds so feeling very lost at the moment. Not sure where to turn next. Things are very calm at the moment, thank God, lots of advice from doctor on how to maintain that but walking on eggshells waiting for the next crisis. Just want my ds back I miss him so much x

BlackeyedSusan · 05/02/2015 11:01
