The Christian Prayer Thread Prays Again...

Tuo · 31/01/2015 22:31

Welcome to our new prayer thread as winter turns (not quickly enough for some of us...) to spring 2015. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, praying that his medication continues to keep him as well as possible for as long as possible;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS who has been self-harming;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for Operation Flat Tidy;

... BlueTinkerbell, for a problem-free pregnancy with DC4 and a happy outcome;

... CaulkheadUpNorth, who is struggling with MH problems which are affecting her faith, and by extension her job in a church environment; prayer for her access the support she needs, inside and outside the workplace, and for her to find her way back to God, in her own time, if need be;

... ChocolateTeacake, for work and financial worries; and for her health;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths , for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; praying for her relationship with her DD; and continuing to think of her in her life without her beloved Bob;

... FaithLoveandGrace, for her mental health as she undergoes painful, but hopefully helpful, counselling; for her relationship with her DSS; and for her work on her PhD;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... innerstrength100, for strength, hope and joy in her life as she rebuilds her life following the unexpected break-up of her relationship;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process; and praying that her ex is able to see how damaging his current behaviour is for his DS so that, in this at least, he is able to change his ways;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues and for the strength to deal with them;

... MaryBS, in the discernment and selection process for ordination to the priesthood;

... ninetynineonehundred, for her relationship with her DH from whom she is separated but with whom she is still living , praying for healing, trust, love and forgivement for them both;

... Pipbin, following the loss of a desperately-wanted pregnancy, praying for strength, for hope, and for lots of support;

... PositiveAttitude, for her studies, her work situation, and her role within her church; for her and her DH as they consider where their engagement with their faith will take them next; for her mum, who has dementia and her dad who has finally accepted he needs help, but finds it hard to accept it; for her DD1, who has been depressed; and for the whole family;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her health in her new pregnancy;

... QuestionofFaith, thanking God that her DH has found a new job, and praying that this will be the turning-point that he needs to overcome his depression and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and me, Tuo, for my DD2 who has been self-harming, but seems much happier at the moment - please pray for that to continue.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, LollipopViolet, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, PandaG, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Dutchoma · 01/05/2015 19:38

Well, Amber and I arrived safely at he pilgrimage place, very tired and hungry as we had very little breakfast and then food on the plane at about 11 o'clock. Time is playing tricks on us as they are two hours ahead of us. The great advantage is that WiFi reaches to our rooms. The weather is quite warm and will get warmer, we will need to stay out of the sun and drink plenty

BlackeyedSusan · 01/05/2015 20:11

yay for safe arrival. have a great time.

SESthebrave · 01/05/2015 20:56

Great to hear from you DO

In other news, now DD has chickenpox...

BlackeyedSusan · 02/05/2015 10:22

off to my mothers today. dd is doing homework before shegoes. I am doing the washing, and washing up. ds has had a long go on the computer which is what holidays are about for him.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/05/2015 15:44

BlackeyedSusan · 02/05/2015 16:14

BlackeyedSusan · 02/05/2015 20:41

I hope that this works.

Hello all. Excuse my silence - having a bit of a rubbish week. I don't want to go into details on here, but if you could pray for strength for (fairly distant) family members affected by a very sad event this week I would be very grateful. Also for a friend who has been diagnosed with cancer.

MHD - glad you are feeling a bit better; praying for better health for you in the days and weeks ahead.

Oma and amber - praying for peace and rest and joy for you on your retreat.

BES - praying for no bad consequences from difficult email. Please please keep yourself safe.

PA - praying for your mum... it's so good to hear of the improvement in her.

Soozi - praying for your dad and for all of you trying to support him, that you get the help you need.

innerstrength - have been thinking of you as you work out what to do next in your relationship with your ex. Praying for strength and peace of mind for you, and if possible maybe some kind of closure.

I was reading this passage this week, and wanted to leave it here, hopefully as a comfort to us all. May we all find rest in Christ tonight and in the days to come.

Matthew 11, 28-30: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

well he rang up and apologised and agreed to give me some space.

innerstrength100 · 03/05/2015 20:16

Thank you for that prayer Tuo.

Still very struggling here. It is like God has answered my prayers from 8 months ago, but he has answered them now, in his own time, when I am in a very different position, to test me all over again. Praise God.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/05/2015 07:26

ds is still asleep. everyone will know when he is awake as there will be major disappointment when he finds out he was not first on the computer.

got to find football kit. lunches etc and I want to go to sleep.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/05/2015 21:46

praying for a lovely and safe holiday for our interepid travellers!

Tuo · 06/05/2015 00:14

Keeping prayers going for all. Thinking especially of those who have elderly parents who need special care - Soozi, PA, and others. Also thinking of those who are ill themselves, or tired and under the weathers - MHD, weegie, howto. Thinking of those whose loved ones are ill in mind or body - FLaH, Anjelica, weegie again, QoF - and of those whose relationships are difficult - BES, Kay, innerstrength. And for all who read this thread, whether they post or not, whether they think they believe or not, whether or not they have ever put their prayers into words.

A prayer of Julian of Norwich (1342-1416)

O God, of your goodness, give us yourself, for only in you do we have all.

My divorce is very close to being completed and I still have no idea what the outcome will be. I have had to endure the full quota of court hearings thanks to a game playing ex who thinks he can beat the system. It must be about two years now since I was reading the bible and I had a very clear promise that I would get justice. I'm still holding onto that promise firmly. My experience so far has shown me that the judges do not get taken in by lies or persuasive charm.

All is fairly calm with DS at the moment. Thank you for your prayers.

Anjelica27 · 06/05/2015 16:01

Thank you for your prayers Tuo, I read somewhere that in dark times it's like looking for the light at the end of the tunnel and you can't even see the tunnel which sums up our life at the moment. I continue to pray for peace for ds and his return to us and strength for myself to find the right things to say and do. At the moment you can guarantee that it's wrong!

Praying that you stay strong Kaykat and that you get justice.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/05/2015 21:47

well, we had Police, ambulance, paramedic car and two fire engines rock up to our block tonight. if it had rained any more we would have had the coastguard too...

Dutchoma · 07/05/2015 05:15

Good grief, what happened BES? Is everyone ok?

BlackeyedSusan · 07/05/2015 07:34

One of the neighbours in that stairwell, said that someone had fallen asleep with dinner on the stove. the police did take the enforcer in though and bashed the door in.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/05/2015 23:01

praying for a safe return journey.

Dutchoma · 09/05/2015 09:41

We're back. I'm still with Amber.

BlackeyedSusan · 09/05/2015 11:58

great. hope you have a relaxing time. have a safe trip back home too.

howoapproachthis · 09/05/2015 12:13

so glad you had a good trip Amber and Oma. sounds amazing!
