A lovely new thread to continue counting our blessings.

Everyone is welcome, of any faith or none at all. Just drop by to pause for a moment and think of what has made you smile or has gone well for you, however small it seems.

You are a remarkable person BsshBosh - I hope you don't mind my saying!
You put me in mind of the song I learnt as a child ....

Give me joy in my heart keep me praising!

My gratitudes today for a lovely day with friends at our Quaker Meeting House. Was balm for the soul, especially in the spring sunshine in the garden, talking and sharing with friends.

KinkyDorito · 19/04/2015 11:42

Spring walks
Good food
Peace and quiet
Time with DH, just pootling and being together (even if it does involve housework)

TooBusyByHalf · 19/04/2015 19:43

Grateful for walking and talking and eating good food with good friends and happy healthy children

BsshBosh · 19/04/2015 23:20

Grateful for
A day out at a gallery and lunch out with DD & DH
A very speedy disconnect of my chemo pump
Being a passenger for once in our car now my DH has passed his test

KinkyDorito · 21/04/2015 06:24

A quiet cup of tea this morning before the rush starts.
Sunshine creeping through the windows.
My lovely family.

BsshBosh · 21/04/2015 08:09

Grateful for
Wonderful literature to read
Sunshine
DD's joy over returning to swimming classes
Extra grateful for feeling okay despite it being just a few days after chemo meaning I can function more normally and enjoy my days to the fullest

stressedHEmum · 22/04/2015 10:19

Bssh, you are such a wonderful, positive personFlowers.

Thank you stressed. I've always been a glass half full person even as a child and in spite of a lot of craziness in my life; fortunately my DD has inherited my disposition.

Gratitudes today:
Having the energy to go into central London on my own to wander the British Museum and eat fabulous sushi at my favourite sushi lunch place. I thank God for energetic days. But then again I am grateful for lazy, low-energy days where I can read long books without guilt and nap when I want before the school run.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/04/2015 17:01

Wondering which sushi restaurant you go to in central London Bssh? Just that I spotted a great looking one where they use those conveyor belts and you just pick up a dish you like the look of - at St.Pancras station - which is kind of near the British Museum?
Anyway I'm always meaning to suggest it to my DBro as he and I were both fortunate to spend some time in Japan (at different times)
I think it would be a fun place to meet up Smile
Also actually I'd love to have a day at the British Museum. I've been a couple of times, but not often enough! What did you see when you were there?

Gratitudes for me today .... tea with a friend Brew
A certain amount of excitement, interest, and distraction provided by the forthcoming election.
I suppose a good daily gratitude practitioner would also be grateful at this point for our democracy - go on then - and for being able to live in a peaceful and stable country - where many people are engaged in trying to make things better for it's citizens or is that going too far Grin

stressedHEmum · 22/04/2015 18:29

Juggling, I am always grateful to live in a mature, stable country governed by the rule of law. When you look at the world and the chaos and suffering in many countries, I think that it's good to be thankful for our own stability.

Juggling my favourite sushi places are Matsuri St James (Piccadilly) and Kikuchi (off Tottenham Crt Rd) - both a bit expensive so generally save for dinner - and So Sushi off Regents St (for lunch). Abeno near British Museum and another branch off Charing X Rd does fab Japanese pancakes (ononyimaki). DH and I had a second honeymoon in Japan when DD was just a cashew nut inside me and I was gutted to be so riddled by morning sickness that all I could enjoy there was McDonalds!

BsshBosh · 23/04/2015 09:01

At the British Museum I focussed on Celtic, Anglo Saxon and Roman Britain as am keen on brushing up on my ancient British history. It was a lovely busy day yesterday mooching around town but today I am shattered so am tucking myself up in my cosy armchair with a big long book (A Suitable Boy).

I too am grateful for living in a stable democracy. The endless electioneering bores me rigid but I have to remember how lucky we are to have elections and be able to campaign.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 23/04/2015 09:07

Thanks for those recommendations - must make a note of them
Okonomiyaki takes me back to days in Japan - we used to go to a great place for those after a day's ski-ing - we lived in the north where there's plenty of snow through the winter! Especially remember having ones with pumpkin filling which was very tasty

To take thread back on course a bit gratitudes for ....
good food
happy memories
shared experiences
recommendations from friends Smile

BsshBosh · 23/04/2015 09:09

:)

stressedHEmum · 23/04/2015 15:58

sunshine
flowers
peace
faith
having all that we need

OP posts:
stressedHEmum · 24/04/2015 09:55

tea and biscuits
food, water, safety and shelter
washing that smells of sunshine Grin

faith and the peace that it brings

My DD's unbridled laughter as she enjoyed her play date
My DM's unwavering and constant love and support

Fresh clean laundry
That first cup of freshly roasted coffee in the morning (especially when made by DH)
A better day than yesterday (in terms of energy and pain)

Annunziata · 26/04/2015 18:20
