Choosing your own reality is important but what external influences have shaped your reality.

World events
Local occurances
People on street corners handing out leaflets
A good book
A smile
Having a baby or two or three

So which ones?
And did it just influence you or did it influence others?

Hello Paps. I think my faher was the inlfluencer in terms of looking at life in a different way. Do you think that it may just be inherent in you and the things that happen make it more realised. I think the bad/negative stuff that has happened has also made me think about life differently and learn about life in general and may be having dd has honed my empathetic nature aswill.

Hello
Parents
Hadn´t thought of them!
I am abit of both of my parents and due to being exposed to more life circumstances feel that I have broadened on the personality traits that I inherited or learned from them.
I think the Celestine talks about that?
I don´t have the book any longer... or maybe it was a Ken Wilbur book (heavy reading) I can´t remember

Is this related to the first insight or are you wanting to broaden the scope of discussion?? So more people can feel included??

I just realised; in numerology my number is 8.My favourite number is 8. When you add my house numbers together you get 8. I was born in the 8th month.

melsy · 10/04/2004 11:30

OOh didnt realise you were on right now, babling away on adding a message and u popped up !!

papillon · 10/04/2004 11:34

13 is our family/parents number

yeh! I would like to hear from more people - especially good to get views as this is more about the 2nd insight - what we do - what we are aware of.
Liked your post Juniper btw - very wise woman that u are.
the 2nd talks about detaching occasionally to see what u and others are rambling on about and u are obviously very practised at it already.

How many of us were born in the seventies. As that was a decade for new phsychological study/ eastern religions/ transcendental experiences / awarness of stress related illness, Does anyone feel that may have influenced our search now in adult hood for this again??? .

gothicmama · 10/04/2004 13:17

Sometimes life gives you the opportunity to choose your way the rest of the time it may b ethat others have the choice. I think we are influenced by who we see ourselves as but also how others perceive us can reflect the way we are when with them

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:19

It doesnt matter what we bring to this discussion , It all counts. Please bring to it something ; knowledge, thoughts, feelings , worries, concerns.

gothicmama · 10/04/2004 13:19

Born in the '70's so maybe that is explains what I've just tried to say. Although I think it is only people born before '77 as we are generationX and not those who are known as Thatcher's children as they have been more greatly affected by the me me me culture

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:20

Welcome gothicmama. Your name is interesting how does it relate to you?? Are u new to MN???

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:20

IKWYM!!!!

gothicmama · 10/04/2004 13:22

I was a Goth in the '80's. I think I am trying to relive my youth. I've been on MN for 6 days now Blame DH and sunday times. Have become quite addicted to it.

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:25

It does that. I have been here nearly 7months now. Nearly EVERY day , even if onlly for a few mins!!! I do alot of work on my pc , so it is always on!!

I was not into Goth, depsite living in black everything!! but some of my uni friends were. They were pagans also. I think that influenced my interest in this.

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:26

I do agree with your statment, different people bring different sides of you out.

papillon · 10/04/2004 13:41

when at uni the city I lived in had lots of goths and I sort of become a witchy poo goth type for awhile - with a definate grungey edge... black outfits only please.
I liked Sisiters of Mercy especially
Born 1970
I am very aware of the traits I have from the parents and have tried to improve on them or remove them!

melsy · 10/04/2004 13:52

It is our pleasure , I think we were hoping to find more people to talk to. I think we might be the balck sheep of MN!!! (not wnating to put a negative label on us, so we are also called to alternative girls!!!).

papillon · 10/04/2004 13:53
