Welcome to our new prayer thread for summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, for her dad to recover well after his recent operation;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt, and also for her decision about her DS's schooling, and for his health;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for health for both her DC, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for her life with her new baby, for her relationship with her MIL, and for her family who are far away;

... Bluetinkerbell, for her DH's training to go well;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DidotheDodo, thanking God for the safe arrival of her granddaughter;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for her finances, for bullying issues around her DD, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time; also praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her brother who has been out of contact - may be be safe and well, and may he be in touch with Ginger or her sister soon;

... Iwantdogger, for her pregnancy - may her little one hand on in there and grow and develop strong and healthy;

... jan2014 for her decision to split with her DH, and for health and energy for her; also praying for her brother and his family, for his difficulties with alcohol;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her and her DS as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce;

... MadHairDay, for health for all in the MHD household, and for less stressful times for her DC

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum;

... PositiveAttitude, as she gets used to living with her DH again after a long time apart and for her new work as a Deacon in her church; also praying for PA's parents' health, and for her DDs and DS in their various situations;

... Question of Faith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to rediscover their love for one another and their lives together;

... Roomforalittleone, for her DS who has pneumonia, and for a good outcome from her Reader panel;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, after the loss of a close family friend, and for the work that she does with others who are bereaved;

... tunnocksteacake and her family as they cope with her DH's illness;

... weegiemum for strength to cope with her illness; and for

... ZingWhale as she approaches the end of her pregnancy.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Calm us, O Lord, as You stilled the storm.
Still us, O Lord, keep us from harm.
Let all the tumult within us cease.
Enfold us, Lord, in Your peace. Amen.

Best..how is Ds today?
Lord, it's hot here!!
Trying to keep Ds cool with a fan.
He is currently sitting next to me writing about dragons :)

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/07/2014 21:50

Did Zing used to post on here? She's in labour: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/2135698-ZingBaby-is-coming-soon-I-think-my-waters-just-broken

BlackeyedSusan · 17/07/2014 22:37

now we have the issue of ds still being a little poorly and the last day of school. agghhh.

Tuo · 18/07/2014 00:40

Oooh! Exciting! Just checked Zing's thread and Zinglet is still not here by the look of it. Praying for Zing and her family tonight.

Also praying for Baddderz's DS and for BES's - for a swift recovery for both of them.

The enthronement on Tuesday was amazing - I was so proud to be a part of it. Praying for the diocese, its bishops, its clergy, and its congregations.

Also praying tonight for the world... for those killed in the Malaysian Airlines disaster and in Gaza, and for everyone who has gone to bed tonight feeling unsafe, wherever they are. I pray for all those who work for peace in the world and for those who bring humanitarian aid to those in need.

Make your ways known upon earth, Lord God,
your saving power among all peoples.
Renew your Church in holiness
and help us to serve you with joy.
Guide the leaders of all nations,
that justice may prevail throughout the world.
Let not the needy be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Make us instruments of your peace
and let your glory be over all the earth. Amen

And thanking God for the safe arrival of Elijah Timothy. Congratulations to the whole Zing family.

Dutchoma · 18/07/2014 08:59

Yes, Zing many congratulations. Every blessing for little Elijah.

Baddderz · 18/07/2014 10:11

Already posted on your birth thread, Zing, but you can never have too many congrats on such a happy day! :)
And what a lovely name!
Please pray for Ds as he approaches the most painful part of his healing...the next couple of days may be very hard for him.
And for me...it is a year next Sunday since dad died.
And I feel as lost and alone as I did on that day.
X

Kendodd · 18/07/2014 10:15

Can I ask for a prayer for myself?

I really desperately need a job, I went for an interview yesterday, I think I completely messed it up though. Please pray that I didn't and that I do get that job and that our financial situation improves.

Dutchoma · 18/07/2014 11:32

Welcome KenDodd. Sometimes we feel that we have really messed up in our life, so I pray for you that, whatever happens, you will feel close to the Lord. I pray that you will draw your strength from Him: 'with myGod I can leap over a wall' Ps18:29

Badderz, this will be the worst day of the year. I pray that remembering your Dad will also be a positive experience and that you are not going over and over the events of the day with its negative outcome.
Have you got some pain killers for ds?

Baddderz · 18/07/2014 11:55

Kendodd....I have felt like that about every interview I have ever been on and 9 times out if 10 I got offered the job!
Oma...we have the usual plus oromorph if it gets bad.
We are doing meds 3 hourly day and night ATM.

PurplePidjin · 18/07/2014 12:18

I'm sparing a prayer for all those mentioned, and also praying for a friend's son who is only a couple of months old but having surgery today to correct a bowel problem. I've also passed on some nappies of ds's (she uses cloth) and made some covers for her but feeling a bit helpless that there's not more I can do, she's not a close friend but one of those that would go hungry rather than see a stranger go without

Baddderz · 18/07/2014 12:24

Purple...thinking of the baby x

CharlotteCollins · 18/07/2014 21:40

Signing into the not-so-new-any-more thread. Things got a bit hectic the last few weeks. I am very happy about a promotion that I've got. Looking forward to new challenges.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/07/2014 22:44

critical time tomorrow is two pm. been watching the cloudson the met office weather forcast change from white to heavy rain to drizzle to thunder and so on. praying for a good party tomorrow.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 18/07/2014 23:24

That's great Charlotte. Well done

BlackeyedSusan · 19/07/2014 11:34

it is raining. Sad for dd.

Dutchoma · 19/07/2014 13:02

Yes, it has been raining here all morning on and off too. But we went to Stanwick Lakes for a walk and there were loads of kids happily mucking about in the wet. So maybe they won't cancel the party and you need to be prepared for a load of washing when she comes home plastered in mud.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/07/2014 17:54

it was dry. until we were safely in the car. we then got to see a massive thunder storm complete with cloud to ground lightening strikes, hail, torrential rain.

Baddderz · 19/07/2014 18:34

Very impressive storms here.
Sunny now though

CharlotteCollins · 19/07/2014 18:41

Hope DD enjoyed her party despite the weather.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/07/2014 18:58

Do it is heading towards you now. please take care.

oybbk is updating regularly. at least she was until her takeaway arrived

Dutchoma · 19/07/2014 19:35

Storm
jJust arrived. Where's my takeaway?

Tuo · 20/07/2014 00:23

Praying for all affected by the storms. Had some dramatic thunder and lightning last night at the friend's house where I was staying, and some scary torrential rain (with surface water and bad visibility to go with it) on the motorway today as I delivered my DDs to my parents for a few days. Thanking God for a safe journey for us today too, then.

Also thanking God for new challenges for Charlotte, and recognition of her undoubted skills.

Praying tonight, too, for Pidjin's friend's baby DS - for a smooth and swift recovery from surgery; for a good recovery also for Baddderz's DS, and for her whole family as they remember her beloved dad; and for Kendodd's job situation.

Also continuing to remember Ukraine, Gaza and the Christians of Mosul, fleeing their homes tonight.

Hello everybody. I have managed to finally catch up to with the new thread. Well done Tuo. As usual wonderful prayers and thoughts. Have read the thread and prayers all round. However Dogger sorry for your loss. Bes congrats are in order for securing a new car not forgetting Zing and her lovely boy Elijah Timothy. Great name Elijah( a bit biased). Enjoy the newborn cuddles because before you know it your little baby who used to fit on your chest transforms overnight to a chubby adorable baby with long legs and won't snuggle and fit into you as before.
kaykat and jan thinking of you both.

Oma hugs. Would have loved to come to the meetup. It is my turn to visit my lovely friend in the Uk and she had suggested August when she is on leave. However DH is suffering from the PSB(precious second born) syndrome so don't see this trip happening. At the same age, Dd had already been on a plane. Ds however the longest he has sat in a car at one time is half an hour. Hope a few mumsnetters will be able to make it.

On a very positive note. I got accepted in the best nursing college in the country. I am grateful and it is a prayer answered. The road to now has been long and full of discouragements but God has brought me this far in His faithfulness. Again it will be challenging because of language issues but thank God that He tells me i can do anything through Christ who gives me strength and wisdom to master it. Great things to look foward toSmile.

Feeling sad about the lives lost in that plane shot down. It gets you thinking doesn't it. May God have mercy on the families affected by this tragedy.
