Xavielli - I'm not a Catholic, but I used to be, so know exactly what you mean about the Gospels. I'll tell you how bad my family are - when my sister needed to pick a gospel reading for her wedding, and picked a passage from 1 Corinthians, both she and my brother couldn't see anything wrong in that!

We had about 15 titles to choose from, split into 3 groups, consisting of the Epistles, The Synoptic Gospels, and the Gospel/Epistles of John/Revelation.

CD - how did your picnic lunch go? I hope your upswing into cheeriness is continuing, although you always sound pretty cheery to me!

CaptainDippy · 21/07/2006 17:40

Thank you MaryBS - I do try!

Picnic lunch was great - very, very hot though - DD's are very hot and bothered and tired now. Having bath with daddy, then PJ's, storytime and bed methinks, bless 'em!!

Very excited about this meet-up - I hope this doesn't mean people are only going to be posting on the "meet-up" thread and forget about this one though!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, it's taken me some time to catch up on all the posts. Hope that you are all well

My little family and I had a lovely time on our holiday, we had lots of time together and we haven't had a lot of that this year. DH and I had lots of time together and have talked through lots of things. I feel that we're a lot happier family for being together and it was a nice change after all we have been thrugh in the past few months.

We buried Nanny's ashes the day ater we got back from our holiday. DS1 found it all a bit odd and wanted to know what grandad was digging a whole, but it was nice and we all said goodbye and remmebered happy times together.

Could youplease pray for my dad and I. we seem to have a communication problem, I don't want to say a lot as it upsets me, but things are quite bad and I need help to sort it out.

CaptainDippy · 21/07/2006 18:08

Hi Kate100 - Great to have you back here with us! So pleased you had such a lovely family holiday and are feeling all the better for it!!

It is good that you got to say goodbye to your nanny as you buried the ashes (was so touched that your grandpa dug the hole) - It is great that your DS asked lots of Q's too - good for him. So glad she is at rest now.

Will defintiely pray for the relationship betwen you and your dad. Hope it improves. xx

Interested in meeting up with us 'orrible lot!!? Link to a thread about it further down......

Hi everyone. Mind if I say a quick hello? I am a very infrequent visitor to this thread - well to MN in general nowadys. But whenever I come on I always check out this thread. Good to read your 'news' and that you are planning a meet up - well done! naswm x

Xavielli · 22/07/2006 00:14

More prayers needed!

CaptainDippy · 22/07/2006 06:48

Hello NASWM - Good to "see" you honey! How's it going? What's happening in youe life atm? Have been thinking of you and praying for you!!

Thanks for the link Xavielli - Will be praying hard for melbournemum's DB and SIL and their "Bean"! Love it when we link and pray for those on MN!!

DD2 got up ridiculously early - fortunately I had a very early night last night and am feeling ok for it!! DH away on a Stag Do today so just me and the girls again! Dirty Stop Out that he is!!

OP posts:
naswm · 22/07/2006 06:59

Hi CD - cant believe you have been thinking and praying for me. I am touched.

All is okay in the naswm house atm. The DSs are both well. DS1 finished nursery last week and starts school in September ). DS2 seems to have recovered well from his ops this year. His hand is healing well - although still needs some OP to prevent the plastic surgery scars becoming too hard. And the very good news is that the lumps in his neck (he had 2 benign tumours removed in Jan) seem to be keeping a low profile! DH is working too hard (but what's new?). I am doing okay atm too. I've been up and down over the past few months. The counselling is going well, although not as fast as I would like. Generally though I think I am on the up. Albeit very very slowly.

Thank you so much for remembering me. Means a lot. (sorry for the long post!)

CaptainDippy · 22/07/2006 09:10

Long post!!? That was positively miniscule compared to a lot of mine!! So glad everything is going ok in the NASWM household - esp re: DS2 and his hand and the lumps, wonderful news!! You are all in my thoughts and prayers - hope you are having and continue to have a fab summer!! (Don't fancy coming to the meet-up, do you!!? )

Thank God for the rain! Looks like I was raining most of the night here, still hot but nice and fresh! I love the smell!

Taking the wee ones to a party today! Please pray that they behave!

Praying for an easier time at work for your DH naswm! and that the lumps and bumps stay off your child!

CaptainDippy · 22/07/2006 10:43

I love the smell too! Stood on our balcony this morning (sounds posh, but it ain't - plus it is my PIL's house!) and took it all in - Massive thunder storm here last night, left the guinea pigs out - whoops!! They both seem fine though, phew!

Hope you enjoy the Party and your LO's behave - know that feeling well (it does get easier as they get older!)

Prayers to all. xxxx

Being absent for a while - but just popping back in to let you know that Catj's dd is back in PICU. Hopefully they're just giving her a bit of rest and she'll be back on the ward come Monday. Thinking of Cat and all the family - it's about time they got a break!

Prayers to all.

CaptainDippy · 22/07/2006 23:54

Hi SMBK! Great to "see" you honey!" How are you doing? Thank you for the update on CatJ's DD4 - hoping the "break" does her some good and she can go back on the ward asap. Praying for them all lots. xxxx

OP posts:
MaryBS · 22/07/2006 23:55

Praying hard for Cat and her DD . Do you have any more details pls?

Am I permitted an OMGosh? Went out tonight with DH to meet up with some of his friends. On the way home he asked if I was doing anything at church tomorrow. Said I was 'doing the prayers'. Anyway, got onto the subject of communion, and he said 'you never know, you might see me up there one day, receiving communion'. Where did THAT come from? I played it light, saying knowing him, he'd want second helpings, but... WOW! He said I'd probably want to 'unfurl the banners', and I said, no what would be a bigger shock would be my (Catholic) mother receiving communion there . I'd love to know whats going on in his head. Don't want to push it though, please pray...
Oh and we are feeding M. (the Vicar) and his family tomorrow as his wife is working. I gave DH the choice of inviting his family, or inviting M. and he chose M. (M. doesn't do food so his kids get whatevers going whenever his wife is working, plus as its Sunday he won't have time, so its an act of Christian charity to feed them! )

CaptainDippy · 23/07/2006 08:26

@ your hubby's "random" comments MaryBS - and too!! God is clearly doing a work in him, how excting - I think your "slow and steady" approach is probably best, you don't want to scare him off, you scary Bible basher, you!! Hope the meal goes well today. Praying for your DH and his 'journey'!

OP posts:
MaryBS · 23/07/2006 08:58

Its a bit of a shocker, isn't it? . Actually I did point out to him as well, that to receive communion he has to start going to church first!

Thank God for little girls. I am leading the prayers of intercession this morning. Told my little girl this, and she said "oh, are you praying for the poor?". Guess who left out a prayer for the poor? .

CaptainDippy · 23/07/2006 10:10

Children rock - What a gift!!

OP posts:
Xavielli · 23/07/2006 11:23

WooHoo Praise God about your DH MaryBS! He has said it out loud now. The angels will be acting on it!!

Please could you pray for my Pastor/Step-father-in-law-to-be! (lol) His car windscreen was smashed in last night meaning he has no way to get anyone to church. It also means I have to walk 5 miles to see my Dad this afternoon! Please pray it doesn't rain!!

CaptainDippy · 23/07/2006 20:05

Poor you, having to walk 5 miles in this heat - hope it was ok. Your poor pastor - hope he gets his windscreen fixed asap and it doesn't cause him too much inconvenience!

Had a good day - Please pray - have put DD1 in a "Big Girl Bed" tonight - did it when she turned 2 and she was great at night, but dropping naps was a nightmare - completely dreading tomorrow!! Thanks guys!!

Any thoughts on my last post on the "Meet-Up" thread??

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/07/2006 09:22

Hi CD - I'm doing OK thanks Have had to cut down on my internet time and now with the children at home can't get to the PC for love nor money!

Mary - Cat's has been back in hossie a couple of weeks - went in with a chest infection I'm sure she won't mind me saying - her dd's heart isn't easily fixable and she's likely to be in and out especially while she's little. It's a tough time (my youngest has similar problems) so Cat will need lots of support.

Lovely weather here again today. Hope everyone is getting the chance to enjoy it a little.

longwaytogo · 24/07/2006 10:18

Morning all, Marybs God works in mysterious ways, I can remember my dh making a comment along similar lines when i felt that I was being called into the ministry and he wasn't then one night out of the blud he said well you never know where we'll be in one years time and maybe God is calling me too. We ended up going to college just 18 months 2 yrs later. So God is obviously working in your dh's life PRAISE GOD!

Praying for Cat's dd its hard enough having children in hospital but when you got other lo's its sooo hard

Had a lovely service yesterday eve, our minister is such a gifted preacher plus the Holy spirit was tangeble - praise God

CaptainDippy · 24/07/2006 10:35

Hi SMBK! Thank you for the update on Catj's little one. Will be thinking of her and praying for her lots. It is going to be a tough journey for them all. May God's hand be on them all. xx Hope you are having a good summer so far!!

Glad you had a good service yesterday lwtg - Always helps, esp when you are going through a bit of a rut on life's road, eh!!? [hugs] to you honey!!

All ok here - DD1 was ok in her bed last night. In fact it was DD2 who woke her up at 6 this morning, not the other way round. DD2 is asleep in her cot atm and I've put DD1 on her bed in her room and told her to "have a little rest", she's not in bed, but she is in her room so that is ok so far. Still feeling very stressed about this transition, but hoping everything will work out ok. At least she is sleeping in the bed ok at night, even if she isn't going to have a daytime nap anymore!!

Sorry for the waffle!!

Love and prayers to all. xxxx

Pudmog · 24/07/2006 16:16

Sorry- gloom and doom in the Pudmog household!! Pudmog has a really bad chest infection and is feeling very poorly I cannot get any rest from darling argumentative, attitude ridden kids!!!! Bad w/e all round.

longwaytogo · 24/07/2006 17:35

please pray that i don't get too het up about another thread, really want to lash out all my hurt but that won't really answer the question that the thread initially asked nor will it do me any good except to get hurt when other people answer with what I don't want to hear

longwaytogo · 24/07/2006 17:36

pudmog sorry you are feeling so poorly praying that your lo's wont be argumentative - know the feeling hun xx
