CaptainDippy · 19/07/2006 10:48

Hello!

Thank you for your little messages, I am still feeling a bit wobbly, had a good cry before DH went to work (poor DH.) I am just not too sure what is up with me today - I guess I am just over-whelmed and exhausted and not coping. I am just having of those "I'm feeling down but I don't know why sort of days." - I guess you girls know what I mean, don't you!!?

Bugger.

Thank you for your prayers, they are hugely appreciated - and they do work!!

Sorry for my selfishness, I'll get on with praying for you now!

MaryBS · 19/07/2006 12:36

Very quick visit as I'm at work, but praying for everyone who feels down. I feel like that when I've not had enough sleep.

good news on the course, lwtg! Praying that some good comes out of it.

Please pray that some good will come of some stirring I've done. I've let another dept know I've got technical skills they could use. Now they're in Basingstoke and I'm in Cambridge, but it IS the sort of stuff I could do at home and it IS something they've had problems in the past with.

Update on church hall situation. Emergency PCC meeting called for Monday. Looks like we're going to go 'legal' on it...

Pudmog · 19/07/2006 14:28

Cd-sorry you are having a down day.

Had a deeply stressful morning- ds had an appointment with the dermatologist- he is lovely. Unfortunately the girl at church works in the O/P dept and I couldn't avoid her. I confess that i was probably quite blunt with her as she tried to engage me in conversation about why I was there with ds. In her role in dept- we need not have had anything to do with her and I hate the fact that she could pick up ds's notes etc and read them. I don't trust her and it is none of her business why ds is there as she is not involved in his case. Sorry rant over. At least she left us alone when dh came after he had parked the car. It is ridiculous i felt quite panicky going to the dept on my own to start with- I just hope she doesn't read mumsnet!

Anyway we have some new stuff to try- i just hope ds can become more comfy in this heat- poor wee mite his skin, hayfever and asthma have all flared up. Please pray he doesn't have another asthma attack like last month. Thank you.

MaryBS · 19/07/2006 17:11

AAARGH!!!! Lost a big post!!!! Who's been praying that they don't have to listen to any more of my ramblings???

Pudmog, I'm so sorry about what you and your DS are going through. Praying for you and everyone else thats feeling down.

MaryBS · 19/07/2006 18:52

There's a separate thread on this board, relating to favourite quote from a religious book or poem. Just thought I'd share this quote with you, its a quote from a book I have called "nice girls don't change the world" as it sums you guys up!

"Never doubt that a community of thoughtful, committed women, filled with the power and the love of God, using gifts they have identified and developed, and pursuing passions planted in them by God - never doubt that these women can change the world"

CaptainDippy · 19/07/2006 19:06

Awwww Mary - What a fab quote! How are you doing? Hope the emergency PCC meeting goes ok!

Glad you got through your hospital ordeal Pudmog, glad DH was there to help out too - your poor little DS, praying some relief would come to him soon!

I am feeling exhausted - still a bit low, but "getting there". Have some friends I haven't seen in aaaages visiting tomorrow, which should be nice - Would appreciate prayers as PIL have builders coming to replace windows tomorrow and Friday - worried about DD's sleeps etc - Stressing me out tbh, silly, ain't I!!?

Thank you!

Love, [hugs] and prayers to all. xxxx

longwaytogo · 19/07/2006 20:44

MaryBs there is nothing worse and more frustrating than loosing a nice long thread. Fantastic quote btw.

CD lo's will be fine, just take them out in the pushchair and get them to sleep, go to a nice park sit in the shade and chill while they sleep.

Pudmog praying that the new treatment works and that you will feel at ease with this other woman, and for what its worth she wont be allowed to look at notes unless it is her job to do so otherwise her job will be on the line.

nearlythree · 19/07/2006 20:47

Pls pray for my baby ds, he has been taken to emergency dr with a temp but has been unwell all day. Thank you xxx

Pudmog · 19/07/2006 21:11

Sorry- me again. Please pray for ds- becoming more unwell with asthma. Needing high dose regime 2 hourly- if it gets more than that I have to take him back to A+E, which I really do not want to do. Thank you.

longwaytogo · 19/07/2006 21:45

nearly three and pudmog praying for you both and your lo's

MaryBS · 20/07/2006 07:18

Pudmog and nearlythree - how are your DSs? Praying for them. Pudmog, did you have to go to A&E in the end?

CD hoping your DD slept well last night, but given the heat, that may not have been possible. Mine were up and about a bit as well. They did get to sleep in the end.

Praying for anyone who is feeling down. I know what that feels like. Try to get some R&R, difficult I know, what with families and this heat.

Thanks for asking how I am - I'm feeling GOOD! I feel blessed. I'm meeting with my tutor tonight, I pray that goes well.

If you liked the quote, you'd probably love the book. Its about the wife of a pastor who has worn herself trying to do what she thought was God's will, only to discover that it wasn't God's will that she nearly kills herself, but something else entirely. Its a really heartwarming book. I don't usually buy books like that, 'off the cuff' as it were, but I felt drawn to it, as if God wanted me to read it, and I'm really glad I bought it, its inspirational. Not too intense either. Its by Lynne Hybels (called 'nice girls don't change the world')

Pudmog · 20/07/2006 08:28

Up all night with ds. Requiring ventolin every 1.5 hours- going to the drs this am to get some steroids and to have him checked out as he is also throwing really high temps.- not much fun in this weather. He remains very cute though (despite noisy frustration, when he had enough puff to cry!)- kept asking for cold flannels to be draped over his head and his tummy. (kept patting his head and pointing to the bathroom- bless!!)

Hope you are all surviving is this heat. Praying for you all and thank you.

CaptainDippy · 20/07/2006 09:42

Hello!!

Praise the Lord - builders are now not coming today! In some ways it would have been good to get it over with, but in others I am glad I've got a short reprieve - esp with friends visiting this afternoon and feeling a bit of late. I am feeling a lot better today (thank you for prayers, they have made a big difference! ) You guys are just fantastic!!

Praying for your baby DS nearlythree - How is he today? How old is he? Poor little mite, not much fun, esp in this weather. How are you doing honey?? Please do update, praying for your DS and for you and your family too!!

...and your poor DS too Pudmog, poor little mite - Not much fun at all - for him or for you. Praying he picks up soon and makes good improvement. Keep us posted, praying lots. xxxx

Hi MaryBS! Thank you for your prayers and for your loyalty to this thread - always great to "see" you honey! Thanks for the book recommendation as well - I might just pick that one up (not a huge Christian lit fan, I am afraid, slap my wrists!!)

Right, best get on [hugs] and prayers to all. xxxx

PandaG · 20/07/2006 13:36

Hi all

just back from the thanksgiving service - the funeral had been at the crematorium earlier yesterday. I can honestly say it was the best funeral/thanksgiving I have ever been to. God was so there, the church was packed at the seams. I cried all the way through, but some of it was tears of joy, we can celebrate her life because of who God is, and what He has done for us!

Regarding born again - I most certainly am! and like cd I am a happy clappy too and proud of it maybe you knew that already 1

Pudmog - praying for your ds, any further news?

CD praying that yoyur spirits lift soon - I know that sick feeling in your stomach only too well.

Mary - praying for your meeting with the tutor, and the church hall situation

Nanou - praying you feel lighter too

longway - good news re your daughter and RE - I loved the course when I did it, having a christian teacher helped too!

NQSTM - how are you all? bug gone yet?

nearly3 - praying for your ds - how is he?

love to you allxx

Pudmog · 20/07/2006 15:38

PandaG-I am glad for you all that the service was such a good one. It makes such a difference, doesn't it.

Thanks for asking about ds- it looks like we have 'managed ' this attack. He is very tired, very grumpy (unusual for ds) and a bit fed up with inhalers. He has now been started on a preventer inhaler and we have all the nebulisers, steroids and stuff needed for our holiday, which is in the middle of a forest in Wales, miles away from any medical facility! I really pray he gets a good nights sleep tonight.(as much for mine and dh's sanity too!)

MaryBS · 20/07/2006 17:33

PandaG - I'm glad it was a good service too. When you go to a service like that, it really feels like Jesus is bringing them home

Pudmog, glad DS is feeling better and praying for a good night's sleep. Unless this weather breaks, its going to be difficult though...

CD - hope you are feeling better. as for loyalty to the thread - thats you all over that is . It was just a selling point at Selection for me "I belong to an internet prayer thread" . J/K - but they were impressed . As for recommending the book, thats the first 'Christlit' book I've EVER bought, they've never appealed to me either! Something just told me to buy that one. I think it'd touch a chord in everyone here. If you didn't want to buy the book, I could lend it to you...

As for happy clappy, I do happy very well, have been known to do clappy on occasions too, although if I tried it at the church where I go, I think they'd freak - I do manage to squeeze in a discrete upturned palm though when singing

nearly3, praying for your son too, hopefully we'll hear from you soon as to how he is.

nearlythree · 20/07/2006 18:42

Thanks for all your prayers ervybody. Ds is a lot better today, yesterday he just wasn't the baby I know but today he is almost back to mormal, if a bit sleepy. I am literally counting teh days until the summer is over and things cool down a bit, no matter what we did yesterday he couldn't get cool and I really thought he was going to a&e - I even packed a bag! I was so scared and keep looking at the weather forecast in case it is going to happen again.

Pudmog - praying for your ds too, I know how worrying/tiring the nights are!

PandaG · 20/07/2006 21:40

Hi Pudmog and nearly3, so glad your DS's are better, or at least not in hospital - this hot weather is difficult to cope with, how are you doing with the heat being pg pudmog?

Love that quote too MaryBS =- I'm not great with Christlit (love the term too ), but I have read a couple of things by Bill and Lynne Hybels, think I will look out for that. I am reading Captivating at the moment - is giving me some insight into why I am the way I am. Perhaps we could do some book reviews too, to encourage each other - and make sure we don't read the dross!

CD - are you feeling brighter today?

I am in the process of packing - off camping - to New Wine - on Saturday, and the following week to my parents so dc's can go to Beach Mission - I became a Christian through Beach Mission whenI was7, and Dh through same mission when we were 17, so it has a very special place in my heart. May pop in fot a bit tomorrow, otherwise I will probably be away for a fortnight.
Love to you allxx

MaryBS · 20/07/2006 23:23

Woohoo! I have lots to say/pray but no time. I WILL say I have picked my first essay topic. Tomorrow I shall start a new thread on what John has to say on the subject of Eternal Life. Should be fun, please feel free to join in my adventure of discovery

God bless all of you, sleep well in this heat

Mary

MaryBS · 21/07/2006 07:25

PandaG - book reviews sound good, although it sounds like not many of us read much Christlit (can't remember where I first heard that term!) so we might not have many reviews! :p

Have a good... and holy break, should be cooler sleeping in a tent! Beach Mission sounds amazing - not something I've come across.

nearly3 - glad DS is a lot better, praying that he continues to improve.

Hope you all slept well. It was too hot for us. DH was restless all night, which meant I was too.

The meeting with my tutor was interesting. We sat and talked about me, from birth to where I am now, then talked about the coursework. I've been banned from studying until a week on Saturday, when we meet up as a tutorial group! Apart from I've got to pick the subject for my seminar.

My essay title is: "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life". Show how the contents of 1 John are designed to achieve this purpose.

Should be fun!

Xavielli · 21/07/2006 08:34

Oooh! The book of John and not the Gospel! How refreshing! Thats the thing about the catholic (I know you are not a catholic MB) faith that gets me you only ever hear the gospels! Went to a catholic school and for our GCSE we only learnt one! laughable really!

Should be really interesting MaryBS!

Praying for your holidays and poorly little ones!

Love to all xxx

Nanou1 · 21/07/2006 09:39

hi all. have been keeping up to date with the thread but madly busy here at work and no pc at home. not much to report here. all in my prayers and hope things are working out. have a great weekend - just in case i don't find the time for a longer chat today...

CaptainDippy · 21/07/2006 10:24

Hello all! Well now DD1 has had her fortnightly dose of watching the men cut the lawn (a future groundsperson in the making, perhaps!!?) and is asleep - a post from me!!

So pleased the Thanksgiving service was good PandaG - a worthy send-off to a special person - So glad you are safe in the knowledge of the wonderful place they are in now - even if you do miss them. It is always harder for those left behind. [hugs] to you - So glad you are clapping along with me though!! Hope you have a fantastic time away honey - that you learn loads and you meet lots of great people!! See you on your return!!

Pleased you "managed" DS' "attack" Pudmog, must have been very scary for you. Glad you have got all the necessary steriods etc to get you through for a while. Really praying his asthma calms down he can have some fun in the sun etc, not much fun for him, poor mite! Hope you have a fantastic holiday btw - See you when you get back!!

Wish I was going away - I could really do with a break from this place. Sigh.

Your essay sounds very exciting MaryBS - You are going to learn so much, what a fantistic opportunity. Hope your head gets full of fab ideas to write soon!! Would love to borrow the book - email me details at

captain_dippy "at" yahoo "dot" co "dot" uk

So sweet you mentioned us in your interview!

Great news that DS is making improvements nearlythree- have been praying lots for him. Praying it cools down a bit where you are and that he is back to his normal self really soon. Enjoy yourself while he is sleepy though!!

Hi Xavi and Nanou1 - Good to "see" you - hope all is going well, esp work nanou1 - admire you sooooo much for working full-time and having a family and a home to organise - How is your DH doing? Esp re: job stuff!!

I am feeling brighter - still got that sinking feeling a little in my tummy. Think it might have something to do with the fact everyone around me is going away on holiday etc and I desperately want a break - Sob, sob, self pitying personage that I am - silly huh!!? Thank you so much for your prayers are concerns for me though, it means so much to me! Going out for picnic lunch with a friend so should be fun, enjoying my time while the DD's are asleep now!!

I'll be starting a new thread with an update of prayer rquests for July etc at the end of the month - so don't panic too much about catching up etc people!!

Also off to start a new thread about a possible "meet-up" - Would be very cool indeed!!!

Any news on Twiga?? Haven't heard from her in a while - or Harrisey? - I know there are others (like NQSTM and NASWM) - but those two have been on my mind recently - Hi guys!! Also, how is your DD4 doing CatJ??

Love and Prayers to all. xxxx
