Salaams/peace to all! I'm already missing our old thread, so taking the bull by the horns and opening our very own Muslim Tearoom, all welcome (non-Muslims too of course), to chat, share, ask questions etc etc. Imagine a cosy cafe with floor cushions, tea and coffee of all kinds, and lovely cakes! Please join me!

lol Fuzzy that link was so much jokes. Grin. I was laughing at the one blaming her hijab for not doing well in a match. Thats what I always do. If I wore my other hijab I would have definitely got that job. lol. You know I met one lady from the middle east who was a teacher who told me she checks her students hijabs because she caught one of them once sticking the answers to the inside top bit of her hijab. I know it sounds like one of those mad stories made up by the phobes but she was dead serious. I wish I had thought of that when I was in school. Grin

fuzzywuzzy · 21/10/2013 14:12

My favourite story about hijabis breaking rules was a poster who said a girl wearing headscarf at her dd's school had sewn her ipod into hers in order to surreptitiously listen to music, assemblies would have gone by so much faster if I'd thought of that.

I'm sure hijab could be used to facilitate all manner of rule breaking.

That site if funny isn't it, I'm bookmarking it lol

It always makes me smile when I see someone using their hijab to hold their mobile, so they can walk along handsfree.

Btw crescent - I didn't know (or my pregnant brain had forgotten) that you were pregnant, when are you due? I've still got until January to go, insha Allah.

peacefuloptimist · 21/10/2013 16:09

Grin Cresscent I have used the hijab for that too.

Other unexpected uses of hijab include; sun visor
makeshift hands free

Any more suggestions?

Sis Crescent I found that documentary really informative, my girls and I are watching it currently, we'll finish watching it in a couple of days, my eldest is also being shown it at school.

Just came across this verse in the Quran (7:199)

???? ????????? ???????? ??????????? ?????????? ???? ?????????????

Show forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant.

I'm going to take the advice.

GoshAnneGorilla · 21/10/2013 23:18

Fuzzy JAK for the much needed reminder. I feel rather overwhelmed with the wave of anti-Muslim threads around here lately, but they end up being so time consuming.

Onto happier things - I'm 28 weeks pregnant, Alhamdulilah

it would need to be covered for the prayer to be valid at least in hanafi fiqh it would.

I wouldn't personally, but each ot their own.

Salaam sisters.

Love the fight that you all put up against ignorance. This is your country too, let the bigots carry on. They would not dare to say those things in RL.

Admittedly, am thrown by the new article by a muslimah on why i wont wear niqab. The sister's views sadden me. Not because she doesnt wear it, but because how she stereotypes all hijabis and niqabis and is quite offensive in doing so.

Anyway, carry on with your good work sisters, love you all for the sake of Allah. Love the muslimah who wrote that article too - for the sake of Allah.

Salaam crescent. Hope you are well. Sit these debates out by all means, they can be repetitive and tiresome lol.

I will make dua for you and your baby. May Allah make it easy for you. I have recorded the niqab debate. Shall watch later. Know what you mean about quilliam foundation though. Lol.

fuzzywuzzy · 25/10/2013 17:20

Assalamualaikum,

I've hidden the latest debate, I think they're ridiculous, goady, deeply superior and misinformed.

I'd like to see an Islamic female scholar on here!

I totally agree with sis Crescent it's click baiting.

GoshAnneGorilla · 26/10/2013 22:05

I did enjoy seeing sister Sahar and others on the niqab debate. I loved how taken aback that Douglas Murray was when a member of the audience said "I'm not interested in a man's opinion" Smile.

I think the phrase "Never explain, never apologise" seems apt sometimes. We're here, this is how we're living, end of story.

I know that there are different opinions on the niqab within the Muslim community and there is concern about how certain sections of the community view the niqab and the role of women.

However, I think many Muslims have woken up to that anti-niqab sentiment is just a Trojan horse for a generally anti-Muslim attitude. After the niqab the hiajb would be next, then prayer rooms, then trying to ban Ramadan fasting...

I know most of you sisters will have heard this story, but i thought i would repeat anyway. Smile . When prophet muhammad (pbuh) went to Ta'if with the message of Allah, people taunted him, chased him and hurt him - to the extent that an angel came to the prophet and said to our prophet that if you wish, i can bring the 2 mountains together and crush these people who have caused you so much distress.

Now had it been anyone ordinary who had been harmed so much, he would have happily taken revenge. But what did our prophet Muhammad (saw) say? Did he wish any revenge, any retribution? No. Instead, he offers them a beautiful dua. He said : I rather hope that God will produce from their descendants such persons as will worship Allah, the One, and will not ascribe partners to Him.

That is a tiny example as to why muhammad is a mercy to mankind. The gentle nature of a man who was accused of being a magician, a soothsayer. Yet those who accused him, also admitted that he was al-ameen, trustworthy.
