Safe haven chat thread for believers

Starwisher · 04/04/2012 23:45

I thought it be lovely to start a" safe haven"thread for all the believers on mumsnet. It doesn't matter what religion or spirituality you are, the important thing is a belief in God or higher power that unites us.

The idea is too talk with other believers to share ideas, thoughts and feelings or even general musings.
So come in and relax!

please can I respectfully ask that this is not a debating thread to challenge people. While I am not the mn police, there are other threads to debate on or please start your own. This is a safe haven

Hi hidden. I have been mainly pulling my hair out about dh finding a new job! I do worry we will lose our home, its a very testing time

I seem to have no ability to live in the present right now, always worrying about the future. One of my worst habits

Whats been going on with you?

Chip, the feathers are beautiful signs from your beautiful dd x

Sorry you're having a bad time Starwisher Sad How long has your dh been looking for a new job?

Starwisher · 19/04/2012 08:47

About 6 weeks i think. There is barely any jobs in his speciality, but he had an interview a couple days ago and one next week so we are praying

Starwisher · 19/04/2012 11:06

Im sure, he will still have to do another interview with the director if he passes stage 2.... The waiting is agony. Keep refreshing emails and leaping every time phone rings !

itchitch · 21/04/2012 20:38

Star, fingers crossed for a good outcome for dh's job.

Hidden, I sympathise with the ex issues - it's awful isn't it. Let's hope it passes soon and things move on for you. Take care of yourself x

blobtobetter · 22/04/2012 16:56

Just watched WWJD? - very thought provoking film, maybe one to buy on DVD.

Reading a book called Personal Help for Girls which (I know) is aimed at girls far far younger than me but I feel like I missed these vital steps by not being raised in a Christian home. Like the foundation is missing!

hiddenhome · 22/04/2012 18:56

It's okay. ExP is having one of his 'episodes' and I'm off the hook (for now) Grin

Was meant to go to Mass this morning, but felt too fed up. I always do this when something happens. The faith takes a back seat whilst I shuffle around worrying about stuff and muttering about religious beliefs being incompatible with the agonies of modern life Hmm

I want to live it, not just see it as some sort of hobby that I do when everything in the garden is rosy Sad

Anybody else like this?

hiddenhome · 22/04/2012 18:57

Hope you're all well btw Smile

chipmonkey · 22/04/2012 20:40

Hidden, I tend to be the opposite, and run to God when I'm in trouble. But I don't think you are expected to go to Mass no matter what. Sometimes life takes over. I think it's more important to talk to God as you go along and keep him in your life, he's not just in the Church.

seekingfaith · 22/04/2012 21:08

Many of us find life hard and full of pain. The world uses us rudely and roughly. We suffer wrongs and injuries. Other people's clumsy feet tread upon our tender spirits. We must endure misfortunes, trials, disappointments. We cannot avoid these things; but we should not allow the harsh experiences to deaden our sensibilities, or make us stoical or sour. The true problem of living is to keep our hearts sweet and gentle in the hardest conditions and experiences.

If you remove the snow from the hillside in the late winter, you will find sweet flowers growing there, beneath the cold drifts, unhurt by the storm and by the snowy blankets that have covered them. So should we keep our hearts tender and sensitive beneath life's fiercest winter-blasts, and through the longest years of suffering and even of injustice and wrong treatment. That is true, victorious living.
