Well here you are then Smile I don't post often, but just to save Nickel a job...

You would have utterly hated the conference I was at this weekend Nickle - not just planned clapping in the chorus, but most of the chairs cleared out of the way for space to dance, wave flags, play percussion, clap, prostrate ourselves before the cross...

was an amazing chance to worship God in spirit and in truth, which for me is with all of my body when I don't feel too self conscious about it. It is great that there are so many different ways to worship our Great God, according to our personalities.

DutchOma · 26/03/2012 10:31

Yes, I would have hated that too, Panda, but wish I could enjoy it. Glad you did, it must have been very liberating.

i'm sure she'll come round to the idea Mary - pentecost is more appropriate for confirmation, i think :)

panda Grin
i don't mind that stuff in its right time Wink

madhairday · 26/03/2012 17:29

Panda - sounds heavenly, wish I was there! :) But also isn't it wonderful God made us with different tastes and perspectives on stuff.

Are you doing team pastoring again this year?

PandaG · 26/03/2012 22:08

MHD - Yes it was absolutely heavenly - Ignite Worship Conference at our church, with Pete leading. Had a period of singing in tongues, and I was struck that it sounded just like heaven will do! If it happens again (and DH is around) you'll have to come and stay and attend!

But exactly, so gald we can all worship in different ways to suit the way God made us - I was at another conference the previous weekend which was completely Bible focussed - excellent teaching, and very worshipful, but a completely different experience.

And yes, we've just agreed to team pastor again this year, am looking forward to it.

nickelhasababy · 27/03/2012 13:25

i love that about christians - wherever you are in the world, you can worship in the way you like best.
that's how God made us, and it's worth celebrating. Grin

OK I have a question for you, does anyone know of any family retreat centres? When we come back to the UK this summer we'd really like to go somewhere for a little while but it will need to be with the DCs (ages 7, 5 and 2). Does such a place exist?

nickelhasababy · 27/03/2012 14:33

i googled it Grin

no personal experience, i'm afraid but this came up at the top of the list

nickelhasababy · 27/03/2012 14:34

okay, had a look through, and it might not be christian Confused

nickelhasababy · 27/03/2012 14:35

this is christian

madhairday · 27/03/2012 14:54

Milly, my friend goes along to these ones and says they are wonderful family holidays, pricey though - but I think all retreat centres are.

We always used to go to Lee Abbey which was a wonderful place for families, in fact looking at the site is taking me right back and making me want to take my dc there. It had the most amazing adventure playground and a great big house to play hide and seek in for hours :)

Hope they help to get an idea!!

thanksamillion · 27/03/2012 18:00

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll start looking into them properly Smile

nickelhasababy · 30/03/2012 16:09

ooh, lost this from my threads i'm on list.

will be trying a choir practice tonight with the boys on posture and carriage.
with the archbish visiting on sunday i don't want any slouching or leaning! Grin

madhairday · 01/04/2012 16:43

We sand 'Make Way' this morning Grin

The vicar introduced it as 'a modern setting of the palm sunday narrative'

dh and I sniggered a bit.

Wow nickel is it sunday? Hope those boys stand up straight!!! Btw have you got any of those easter eggs left? Me being rubbish have left it til last minute and still want some...would you be able to send some if you have or is it too late??

thanksamillion · 02/04/2012 06:37

Was wondering how it went nickel? Did the ABC behave himself? Grin

nickelhasababy · 02/04/2012 12:40

I have got a couple of the eggs left.
:)

None of the JCs turned up on Friday - we knew JC1 wouldn't be there, but no sign or notice of JC2 Confused (didn't come on sunday either, so he didn't know about the archbish!)
JC1 did enjoy it, i think. I awarded him 8 dots in total - he did very well.
The Archbish is such a lovely chap, he's so down-to-earth and ever so friendly. It's kind of weird, because you expect to be star-struck, but he's so personable that you just feel like you're talking to a "normal person" Grin
I got him to pose with Eleanor, so that'll be on the choir website soon.
:)

It was a great service- think JC1 was quite nervous - he refused to do the clapping during the 2nd hymn, and the archbish did say to omit verse 2! [phew]

Don't know what he thought of our When I survey though, he didn't say. :)

TheGreatestmadhairDayinHistory · 05/04/2012 11:20

Ah nickel at the pic with dd and the archbish! :) Glad it went so well.

Quiet on here. Where is everyone? Hope you're all enjoying the easter holidays. I'm looking forward to getting to church on easter sunday and good friday this year as couldn't last year. Can't wait to celebrate :)

nickelhasababy · 05/04/2012 12:03

yes, i love this time of year (in a morbid way...)

we've got our now-traditional last supper service meal tonight, a proper good friday service tomorrow and our usual Easter day service plus evensong! on Sunday.
busy busy busy!

A friend of mine has popped in to give me a batch of Hot Cross Buns to eat on Good Friday. I really hate HXBs. had to pretend to be very grateful and will give them to DH (who loves them)

How's everyone's good friday going?

We went to a messy church type thing this morning, and then an hour before the cross which dh was leading. Has been good.

There is a new chat thread started similar to this, would be a shame to be split in two, wonder if we could merge somehow, not sure.

SophieNeveau · 06/04/2012 17:30

Hi, GreatHair, I followed you again. [busmile]

TheGreatestmadhairDayinHistory · 06/04/2012 19:39
