is it on radio marmite?

marmiteandhoney · 02/03/2012 17:15

Doh! Forgot to add a link! It's on BBCRadio2- Sunday half hour.

madhairday · 05/03/2012 12:23

Morning everyone

What's everyone up to? Jaffa is having her baby today - exciting!

I'm gearing myself up - dh is off to Sudan on sunday for 2.5 weeks - hoping I will cope and be well enough - doing good at the moment so hopefully it will stay that way.

nickelhasababy · 05/03/2012 15:01

ooh, yes!

gosh, i hope you're well enough, too.
get him to make you up loads of meals to put in the freezer that you can just microwave Wink

MarynotBeSarcastic · 05/03/2012 16:25

Go Jaffa! Hope that things sort themselves out for you MHD, what with your DH being away soon.

I've had a bit of a time of it, with a difficult weekend. DH's leg swelled up, so it was 2 trips to A&E to get checked out, on Saturday night then Sunday morning. Thankfully he is OK, but it really unsettled the kids and both of them were problematic during Sunday's service. DD tried to tell me all her woes during the peace (she is in choir) and DS just kicked off big style, both during and after.

Today was a really intense bible study, which has left me exhausted. And to cap it all, a really lovely "healing and wholeness" day I was going to attend this Saturday, has been cancelled. I was really really really looking forward to it :(

madhairday · 05/03/2012 16:29

That's a shame Mary :( Come to the NW women's day instead!! On similar subjects.... me and Blue are going, poss noteven and poss wellies I think?

Sorry to hear about dh, sounds horrible, and about the dc's being unsettled, sounds an exhausting weekend.

nickelhasababy · 05/03/2012 16:37

that's crap mary, sorry :(

PandaG · 05/03/2012 17:00

Oh shame Mary. I've heard very good things from the NW North women's day, am sure the London one will be good too.

MarynotBeSarcastic · 05/03/2012 17:59

Thanks, can't help it but am always a bit Hmm about attending event aimed purely at women (probably because I like things like football and cars and engineering/maths and things aimed at men). Maybe one day.... I've not heard of any of the speakers there either... I was SO looking forward to hearing Russ Parker and Chris MacKenna speak!

PandaG · 05/03/2012 18:51

fair enough. what a disappointment for you.

Am quite chuffed, DS has chosen Jesus to write about as his hero for his English homework. He's 12, and really seems to have a faith of his own.

MarynotBeSarcastic · 05/03/2012 21:08

DD (also 12) was impressed with your DS! :)

lostmywellies · 05/03/2012 22:51

Hello everyone. Just checked in as I noticed this thread had dropped off the "Threads I'm On" page! mhd - it's now definite that I'm not going to be able to come to the NW day, I'm afraid. :( DH has just gone off on a 3 week trip for work - he has been trying and trying to make plans to come back just for that weekend, but it was getting more and more contorted and ridiculous till I was wishing I'd never mentioned it! So, not this time. I'm not sure when that became definite, but sorry not to mention it sooner.

Hope your DH enjoys his Sudan trip, mhd - that's where I was, in Khartoum. :)

nickelhasababy · 06/03/2012 10:50

Mary - maybe it's because it can talk about ladies' bits Wink

Grin

i know what you mean "here's how you can be a better wife and mother"
I prefer to be mary than martha, thanks! Grin

MarynotBeSarcastic · 06/03/2012 14:05

:o, I'd never make a good Martha. Mary possibly, got the right name for it :o

nickelhasababy · 06/03/2012 14:09

madhairday · 06/03/2012 18:01

It's generally not at all like that, as in girlie, being good wifey etc. More women getting together to worship and minister and share stuff. It's cool. But I totally respect how you feel about the idea Mary :) Sorry about your day being cancelled, that's pants :(

That's a shame lost - I hope the next 3 weeks are ok for you, I'll be with you in spirit as dh off on Sunday.

MarynotBeSarcastic · 07/03/2012 07:17

Prayers for you MHD, as you prepare for your DH going...

Actually for me, its not so much the girlieness of such an event, but the social dynamics of it. I find it easier to mix in a mixed group, particularly if I don't really know anyone. If you add to that the complications of getting to such a venue and the venue itself, it all adds up to a LOT of coping! (and there is always the thought, what do I do if I am NOT coping whilst there?)

thanksamillion · 07/03/2012 21:05

Hi everyone, just checking in as like lost you'd dropped off my threads list and therefore no longer existed Grin No really I often check in and have a quick read even if I don't post.

We're trying to work out what next at the moment so would appreciate your prayers! We've been here for 4.5 years and finish our 5 year term in the summer so it's a big wide open decision to make...

Still no water Sad so I'm really really hoping for some warmer weather. Maybe MHDs DH can send me some from Sudan?

Hope that those of you who are going enjoy the NW day and sorry your day got cancelled Mary.

lostmywellies · 07/03/2012 21:15

Northern Sudan gets rainfall usually around 4 days a year... so you may want to look somewhere else for your water, Millie! Nice to hear from you, was wondering how you were getting on. Sorry to hear about the water situation. We still have no heating - a month now, it's just like living in Africa, being in the country!

Will pray for your decisions about the future - we have the same sort of decision to make (also about the summer), although our decision may be made for us.

nickelhasababy · 08/03/2012 11:58

you can have some of mine! my shop is not waterproof!

newlark · 08/03/2012 12:58

Does anyone have any christian book recommendations that would work well for group discussion? My lent group are thinking about carrying on as a regular book group reading a book a term and I'm trying to come up with a list of suggestions - preferably something not to difficult to read and ideally with some discussion questions after each chapter/section.

thanksamillion · 08/03/2012 13:29

Thanks Lost and nickel for the offer of water. It's more that we need heat to defrost the water that we have, but the weather forecast is for it to get up to 5 degrees on Saturday Hmm.

newlark do you mean a study type book or a 'christian fiction' type book?

newlark · 08/03/2012 13:41

a study type book I think - we've been reading a book on prayer during lent which I think everyone is finding really helpful
