I thought it was time to set up a new thread for Christmas.

Will just leave it short and give you all the opportunity to add your own prayers.

Nickelbabe Prayers of thanks for the delivery of her little girl, continuing prayers for her and the baby. We look forward to you to be able to update us.

MHD prayers that the medical team will get their act together, but also that you will be able to be at home and stay at home over Christmas.

Soozi we know how hard things have been for you for such a long time. Prayers that you will find the strength to cope, especially at this Christmas time.

CaptainDippy Prayers for comfort and joy.

Prayers for all of us that we will proclaim the birth of the Saviour to a world in need.

Praise God for his goodness.

gingerbreadhousecurl · 26/12/2011 15:53

Hi all! I hope you are all having a lovely Christmas time. Struggling here a bit. DSis is here with her husband and three sons. DS is enjoying playing with his cousins. They are all great, but my DH is going around like a bear with a sore head and all the frustration and insecurities I've had about our relationship during the past year is starting to come to a head. He doesn't want to do anything and just bites my/our head(s) when I/we dare suggest that we do some activity, like go swimming or go for a walk, together. I'm getting increasingly fed up. (There is an awful more behing this, of course, but no point in going into here.)

CaptainDippy · 26/12/2011 17:57

I've been told by DutchOma that I should pop in here and wish you all a (slightly belated) Happy CHRISTmas!!! Xmas Smile I hope you have all had wonderful, precious times with your families and loved ones celebrating Jesus' Birthday Xmas Smile

Sorry I haven't been around much the latter half of this year, but I really can't keep up any more. Pitiful excuse, I know; but you are often in my thoughts and prayers and I keep up with a few things on Facebook where I am friends with Jently, Soooooz, DO, Mary, MHD and eeeek, I can't remember your name and I won't mention your RL name here!!! LOL!!! Xmas Wink I will try and pop in from time-to-time, but great thanks to the wonderful DO for keeping up!!

MHD, you have been in my prayers particularly during Christmas, as have your loved ones. This is a tough time for you and I am SO glad you got to go home for the day. Hug xxxxx

Right, the girls, DH, Outlaws and I are going to watch The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe now, so best buzz. Thoughts and Prayers with you all. xxxxxxx

madangelhairday · 26/12/2011 19:45

Oh CD it's lovely to see you here, I keep up on FB with you and have been praying for you too, you know you're always welcome here and don't have to keep up, sometimes it just gets too much I know. Just know you can always come and ask for prayer here :)

Ginger - oh love I don't know what to say - sounds like you are going through a difficult time :( Be assured of my prayers. Do you have friends nearby you can talk it all out with? Hope things improve for the rest of the holiday.

The dc have now gone to stay with my parents for the rest of the week, will miss them but it will be so much easier for dh, and he is on holiday so can come and spend the days here with me so I won't be so lonely, yay.

blackeyedsanta · 26/12/2011 22:52

h gave me a book on one of the local dialects for christmas and I am reverting to type a bit nah. Xmas Wink it'll wear of agen soon.

gc, sorry to hear that things are not going so well with h. do you just get on with it and leave him to it? (if his quite appy sittiing at om, bugga off aht and leave im to it on is sen. worked f mi dad.) it is difficult having to put up with the surliness isn't it. hope you can work it out.

things are going ok here, mostly. not bad considering. the children are going to bed very late, but I do not care as I am not putting them to bed! I am also lucky that thay will sleep in a bit in the morning to make up for it (so I wont avter purrupwiv there mithering all day tmorra)

do, I think it was the embarressment that her children did something at someone elses house that probably caused the ranting. I am more upset when the dcs do something at my parents house than at home. it is like it is my fault that they are misbehaving. (not like they have free will and responsibility for their own actions at all) you probably needed to reassure her, then tell her to shut up! (gior) so yanbu at all.

somebody throw me to pedants corner quick, I need sortin aht!

notevenaChristmousie · 27/12/2011 06:23

Morning lovely ladies,
God definitely works through the internet, I found you just as things were really black. I am a little better today.
bes you sound pretty bright considering how frantic and bleak you were - did you get out to church? Are you getting a bit of a break?
mhd I hope you can have some quality time - albeit in hospital - with your DH. If the ward is busy can he wheel you off to canteen or chapel for some peace?
ghc I am very new so I don't know your backstory but will pray for you and for some peace in your difficulties
Oma sounds like you had a wonderful housefull. Am so glad you had a good time. Agree that your daughter was prob taking her frustrations out on the DC. We've all done it, haven't we? Maybe just me then...
PA how wonderful, and you don't sound smug, if we don't share the good stuff, how will we share the hope that things get better, I loved reading your post
lost glad you had a good Christmas back home if poorly

I'm heading away for a couple of days to work a few shifts on Crisis at Christmas - always wanted to, and the bad circumstances this year have meant I've been able to. "All things work together for good for those who love God" - is it Philippians? No Bible to hand - but this is my testimony that it is true. In the darkness, when it seems like God isn't there... then, he is still at work, we just don't often know it. Not going to take my laptop, but a few books and my mp3 player, and am really looking forward to it. I'll be back on Friday - I suspect this will do more for me, than I will for it Xmas Smile

DutchOma · 27/12/2011 09:41

I know she is under a lot of pressure, I understand that, but all this shouting is making things so much worse. I feel so dreadfully sorry for the children and woried about them too.

Good for you Mousie, hope you have a good time and take a lot of encouragement away with you.
BES what were you typing on? Are you ok? Did you manage church?

madangelhairday · 27/12/2011 12:19

it must be so hard and worrying. I have just looked back at my post before and realised I had put 'yabu' - meant 'yanbu' of course - hope you picked that up from the rest of the post!! Drugs making me somewhat unclear.

Anyway, hello all. Not too good today, feeling too sick to eat, even if I could (have to start a aibu thread on that one)

DutchOma · 27/12/2011 13:03

MHD yes I did. Hope you soon feel better.

OP posts:
SESthebrave · 27/12/2011 13:33

Hello all!

MHD - sorry you're not feeling great today. Really hope your hospital stay will help so that you can be home for the weekend and enjoy your birthday and new year.

DO - YANBU! Acutally the scene you paint reminds me of when I was a child and my mum was shouting at me (for dropping peas off my fork onto the floor!) and my darling Nana intervened on my behalf. Only with hindsight did I know that my mum was particularly stressed out for other reasons.

BES - I did Grin at your post! Have you made it over to pedant's corner yet or do I have to fling you there?!

Mousie - good for you helping out with Crisis. Very worthwhile and I hope you do get something out of it as I'm sure those you are helping will.

Ginger - sorry you're having a tough time and struggling with DH. How are things today?

PA - what a lovely post and a lovely family you have. Gave me a little warm fuzzy feeling reading your post :)

We had a lovely Christmas and DS was in his element - the first year he's really had the anticipation and enjoyment :)

blackeyedsanta · 27/12/2011 16:54

mhd been praying for you overnight hope you feel better soon. (it was a late one)

mousie h decided to come to see the children for christmas because the trains were too awkward to get backwards and forwards. that has meant that I have been able to cook christmas dinner without breaking up a million fights between the dcs.and someone to guard the presents, though they did manage to get at a couple of them. I have also had someone to do the backwards and forwards and cleaning up the toddler diarrhoea. wwe got to church on christmas eve. (just)

gc how are you today?

do, the only alcohol consumed was in the christmas pudding and I think most of that had evaporated. Xmas Grin

the dcs have been kept amused by the train track. they had some new bits and i got the rest out of the cupboard. (there is rather a lot) Xmas Blush

just let the children ring mil who is home alone as she is in the do not go out stage of chemo at the moment and fil/h and possibly sil have gone to see relis "down south" I am amusing myself sorting the photos on my phone.

DutchOma · 27/12/2011 19:01

BES I didn't say what were you 'on', I said, what were you 'typing on'. Sticky keyboard, bad light, no light, total touch typing...that sort of thing.
I would not for a moment suggest you had been drinking, good decent church going girl that you are Wink

OP posts:
blackeyedsanta · 27/12/2011 23:35

do, I think it would only take a glass to make me go very squiffy as I am mostly teatotal.

the keyboard is faulty(well you can hardly expect it to work perfectly as it is used as a car track and has been sat on, dropped and walked on, several times. this time however, it was definitely the fault of the brain and a bit of homesickness for my paternal family accents.

oh and I am not exactly church going at the moment. Xmas Grin

mufti · 28/12/2011 09:39

amberlight · 28/12/2011 13:04

Hi all, keeping you all in prayers.

This afternoon, at the funeral of a friend of mine, S, who died too soon and too young from cancer, leaving behind hubby C. Prayers for all who cared about her would be much appreciated. What a sad time of year for such a thing...

madangelhairday · 28/12/2011 13:40

Praying, Amber...

I'm a bit bored.

Still hoping to be out for the weekend.

CaptainDippy · 28/12/2011 19:02

Lots of prayers for the loved ones of S, amber xxx

SESthebrave · 28/12/2011 19:21

Prayers for all friends and family of S, Amber . Must be so tough on you all xx

MHD - continued prayers for you and your recovery and being out of hospital for the weekend.

Prayers for DH and his family please as it is the one year anniversary since his cousin was killed in car accident which involved a drunk driver and also killed another three.

Fink · 28/12/2011 21:36

Hi all,

Don't come on MN as often as I used to, but will remember you all in my prayers.

I would like to ask your particular prayers for me at the moment. DH left me about a month ago. He is filing for divorce. It all came on very suddenly, without me really realising anything was seriously wrong - he went away for a trial separation, during which we had many long conversations to try to sort things out. He came back after two weeks, stayed until DD was in bed (she's not quite 2), admitted he's having an affair and then left for good. I am willing to take him back and keep trying, but he is not.

DD and I have moved back in with my parents (we looked at a flat but couldn't afford it; the house we were living in together is tied to DH's job so we can't stay there). She still sees DH regularly. I'm moving the last of the furniture tomorrow, but there's not room for a lot of stuff here so I've had to leave most of it.

I'm finding it very hard (as anyone would, but additionally) as a Catholic who works for the Church. My family are Catholic but mostly not practising. I (and the Church) see marriage as being for life, so even if we get divorced I will not be able to have another relationship. I always wanted a large family so I'm upset that DD will be an only child and that I'll be alone for the rest of my life.

We are coping with it ok, considering. My faith has been a great consolation to me and I'm finding a lot of strength in Christ's love, but I would appreciate a few extra prayers nevertheless . . . especially for DD and her future.

Thank you!

DutchOma · 28/12/2011 21:44

That Fink is very hard. You are coping amazingly. I pray that you will stay strong in your faith, that Christ will indeed be all in all to you and that your dd will also know the love of her heavenly Father as well as the love of her earthly father, who, very sadly has let her, and you down.

OP posts:
WelshCerys · 28/12/2011 22:27

Fink - I am so sorry about your sad news. DO is right, you are coping very well in very difficult circumstances. Your faith will help you so much through what must seem such dark days.

I think that many would agree with you, Catholics, non Catholics, indeed non Christians, that marriage is a lifelong state. However, stuff happens and very often we can't control it, such as in your case when your DH has made a decision which clearly isn't shared by you. I was in a situation a bit like that, some years ago, and eventually I met and fell in love with another man who in fact I married. I went on to have more children. I'm also a Catholic and I can't say whether what I did was right or not - it felt right but of course God will judge in due course! What I can say is that I am now, at very long last, is that I am happily married to a man who is great husband and father. We have our difficulties in that one of our kids has gone AWOL (I've posted about that) and left us very sad and worried. But we cope together and, as ever, welcome prayers for our situation.

God speed, Fink - whatever happens, you can be sure that you and your little one are loved and cared for by God. I find that knowledge greatly reassuring in my own life.

lostafrica · 28/12/2011 23:38

Hi all

Fink - what a shock for you. I pray that you will continue to find your identity in Christ and find the strength to meet each new day; also that your dd will feel secure and loved amongst all the changes she's experiencing.

DO - I hate shouting, too. It really makes me curl up inside and when there's an age/size gap between shouter and shouted at, it's worse! I woke up hearing it this morning and my day never really got back on kilter.

ginger, I sympathise. I pray that you both manage to find some space and that you are both able to see good things in each other. Says I, who has been spending too much time with dh recently, so that now I'm looking hopefully at mid-January on the new calendar when he starts taking business trips again... Xmas Shock

mousie, I was just reading your post when a mouse ran down the stairs and scurried past me! Weird! Hope you give and receive many blessings at Crisis.

mhd - hope you are able to enjoy the time with your dh and the sickness doesn't get in the way of that.

Hello to others I haven't mentioned - praying for you all as I read through.

I am doing ok, a bit fed up really. It's over a week now since my consultant said I now need a physiotherapist to help me starting to walk again. I don't even have an appointment yet, and if it's going to take 4 to 6 weeks then I don't want to waste time. I realise it's Christmas, and it's NHS(!), but it is frustrating. So I'm being very naughty and am just getting on with it and doing what I think is probably the right thing. I'm trying to go slowly and just put a bit of weight on that foot. It's easier than none, anyway. You should probably pray that I rediscover a healthy respect for the health professionals in charge of me... Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

Oh bother, long day tomorrow and I was going to get an early night tonight!
