I thought it was time to set up a new thread for Christmas.

Will just leave it short and give you all the opportunity to add your own prayers.

Nickelbabe Prayers of thanks for the delivery of her little girl, continuing prayers for her and the baby. We look forward to you to be able to update us.

MHD prayers that the medical team will get their act together, but also that you will be able to be at home and stay at home over Christmas.

Soozi we know how hard things have been for you for such a long time. Prayers that you will find the strength to cope, especially at this Christmas time.

CaptainDippy Prayers for comfort and joy.

Prayers for all of us that we will proclaim the birth of the Saviour to a world in need.

Morning all

So it seems I am coming out tomorrow night but have to then come back on boxing day for a few more days rest and IV training, then next week will be able to come home with the rest of the course if all goes to plan. Tired this morning but so pleased to be spending christmas with my family :) Thanks for all the prayers, they are truly appreciated, and praying for you all too.

lostafrica · 23/12/2011 12:43

Woohoo! Very pleased for you.

amberlight · 23/12/2011 13:34

Yay, MHD!!!!
Keeping everyone in prayers...

notevenaChristmousie · 23/12/2011 13:46

mhd do you have any friends who are nurses/doctors that could give your ivs? I know I'd be only to glad to do it for a friend. I kept my mum at home as much as I could. I assume it's to clear up Pseudomonas?

Thinking of you Cerys - my DD made her first tentative steps towards faith with a denouncement of FC 'well if he was real and that important, don't you think God would have told us about him' Xmas Grin and 'only God gets to be everywhere all at the same time' - praying for you and Totally and Juggling and anyone I've missed in that situation.

People I have heard always seem to feel Christmas is a great time for proclaiming the gospel - I find there are so many distractions that the Incarnate Christ is the last thing on people's minds. I hope I am just a cynic though.

madangelhairday · 23/12/2011 17:06

noteven yes I have a friend who is a nurse and has offered, however I talked to my IV nurse today and she says they won't let anyone do it unless they come in here and are trained, even if they are experts in IV, so it would be difficult for my friend to do that. However I do feel confident in doing it myself - my main problem is shaky hands from all the drugs and drawing up the drugs without stabbing myself!! I'll get there though. Yes it's to battle pseudomonas which are ever present with me. Does your mum have lung probs then?

Talking about distractions and the incarnate Christ I'm just posting a blog entry I did yesterday, hope some of you find it helpful. here

FriendofDorothy · 24/12/2011 17:38

Evening all. Thanks for your prayers, I appreciate them very much.

It was my birthday yesterday and was a bit rubbish tomorrow as I just felt sad. I usually love Christmas but this year I am just dreading it. Just have to get through tomorrow!

WelshCerys · 24/12/2011 19:01

Thanks to all for supportive words (DSs very disinclined to go to Church - DH indifferent). Still, I have decorated - and will be as cheerful as poss tomorrow (much on my mind, including a wayward older DS whose whereabouts are presently unknown to us, whom I love dearly and who is much need of your prayers - thanks!)

Thinking of you all this Christmas. Christmas peace, healing and blessings to us all and to our families. xxx

madangelhairday · 24/12/2011 19:12

Cerys - that must be so hard for you with your older DS - praying now, and praying for the rest of your family too.

I'm home!! Praise God. So lovely - am beyond exhausted though with the mere effort of getting in the car and just being here. Will be early to bed.

Happy Christmas everyone x

WelshCerys · 24/12/2011 19:42

Great news, MAHD! Welcome home - now rest and relax as much as you possible can.

Thanks for your prayers - they are warmly welcomed. Praying for you, too.

DutchOma · 24/12/2011 19:57

Praying that your DS has somewhere safe to stay. It's very hard when your children just disappear and don't seem to care about you.
I hope that you will find support for yourself at church even when you are going on your own, or maybe especially when you are going on your own.
I will be on my own as Bob is again not well enough to come to church and cope with all the family coming to lunch. Fortunately the anibiotics have once again kicked in and he is much improved from what he was on Thursday.

Just a quick post to wish you all a happy and blessed Christmas.

Many on this thread are going through tough times and I pray that God will be in the middle of those situations offering strength, comfort and love.
Also offering prayers of thanks for each of you and for this thread. I don't manage to get on very often but believe God can work through the internet and this thread due to the people and their faithfullness and openess to Him.

Merry Christmas to you all whatever your situation, wherever you may be and however you will be spending it Xmas Smile

TotallyUnheardOf · 24/12/2011 23:02

Merry Christmas everyone and prayers for all, but especially those who are not well at present (MHD, DutchOma's Bob, Amber and Amber's DH, SweetestThing) and those who are sad or worried for other reasons (Cerys, Jently, Dorothy,BES, lostafrica, Blue). Apologies to anyone I've forgotten: not intentional, I promise.

Thanks to all of you for the support you've given me over the last year. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

PositiveAttitude · 25/12/2011 05:41

HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone. Thank you for all your prayers and support throughout the year.

blackeyedsanta · 25/12/2011 09:41

seems like someone got in last night and stole ... a mince pie! left snowy footprints across the floor, and a scattering of smarties and a couple of chocolate coins.

dd has only just woken up. [jammy sod emotion] which is just as well as I as up late last night wrapping presents. had to go on a hunt for talc too for some reason. they are polaying quietly in their rooms whilst I wait for paracetamol to work on the sinussy/late night headache. we went to church last night despite only getting the mince pies out of the oven 20 minutes before the service which we arrived at at the end of the last hymn. it was an amazingly good service for the children and gronups too, and I got to spend the first half of the service actually in the church.

blackeyedsanta · 25/12/2011 09:42

oh happy christmas too.

(got distracted as it crashed half way through posting Xmas Confused )

WelshCerys · 25/12/2011 11:14

Happy Christmas all - wishing you all peace and joy.

Thanks so much for your kind words re Church (kids not willing to go etc) - well, yesterday, they did (somewhat reluctantly) agree to come ("Whatever ...") but they were up and about at various stages in the night and so I didn't have to heart to wake them this morning.

DH was working till very late last night so ditto. And all the services here start at 10am - in my childhood it was always 11am (do you remember?). So, we'll have a family day - and light candles in the Cathedral for those we love and remember (both sets of grandparents and a few others) this afternoon.

Will light a candle for you guys - you are amazing.

SES - your comment about God working through the internet really resonated. Hadn't thought of it like that before so thank you. I think it's so true.

notevenaChristmousie · 25/12/2011 13:29

Happy Christmas!! I hope all is well and for those who it isn't, it is just a day and Jesus is still on the throne, He is still the High King of Heaven, He still never leaves or forsakes us.

We made a fabulous joyful noise to the Lord this morning, and it's very peaceful here this afternoon. I miss my mum pretty badly but getting on with it. No other option really. Love to all x

gingerbreadhousecurl · 25/12/2011 21:56

Merry Christmas and Christmas blessings to everyone on here!

PositiveAttitude · 26/12/2011 07:31

Hello everyone,

Just popping in to share some news from the PA household. Firstly, our lovely DCs got together to get the most wonderful present ever! They got a book produced (very high quality) of photos of the family with encouraging Bible verses for our plans for the future and personal thanks from the children. I cried and cried it meant sooooo much! I have been blessed with the best family ever!!

Also, DD3's boyfriend popped "the" question and she is now flashing a very gorgeous ring on her left hand! Smile They are very young and no wedding planned until 2015 when we will be back in this country.

I am so thankful for my lovely family and for the happiness we have experienced recently.

I dont want that to sound smug for anyone who is struggling. There have been a lot of tough times for us, so I do know how that feels, too. Prayers that everyone can feel God's peace and love in every situation.

lostafrica · 26/12/2011 12:01

Wow, PA, that must've been sooo touching - how thoughtful!

Do feel for you, mousie - hope you had/have some happy memories to hold onto.

We had a good day yesterday and I even got out of the house to go to church which was a treat! Still suffering the after-effects of the flu, though - and am missing out on a Boxing Day walk right now. Xmas Sad Still, I have a lot to be thankful for - and you lot are pretty high up that list. Xmas Smile

DutchOma · 26/12/2011 12:10

Oh PA, that is so lovely, your gorgeous children.
My house got thoroughly upheavaled yesterday, one room did not have any floor space because every toy in the room had been poured out, including about 300 pieces of Lego. Could have been worse, there are about 3000 pieces in the box.

Then the standard lamp in the front room got thrown over and broken, fortunately not terminally, but to listen to dd you would think that no children had ever broken anything and they were the first ones to be so wickedly naughty. It was awful, far worse than the lamp being broken. I would expect her to tell the children off for mucking about, but she went on for about five minutes at the top of her voice.
WIBU to suggest that next time she starts shouting, she sets an example to her children, takes some notice of her mother and stops shouting when told to? Grin
Even if the lamp had been terminally broken it would not have been the end of the world, although I am very pleased we were able to mend it.
The rest of the day went extremely well. Ds and ddil were there with their darling baby and everybody said how lovely the food was.
Bob had two rests, couldn't come to church, but he enjoyed the rest of the day.
