Grin

I know I would appreciate prayers as I face the prospect that the Littlest Dippy starts school in a few short weeks (w/c 12th Sept to be precise). Feeling a little wobbly to say the least ......

Oh, Susan... That's a huge amount of 'stuff' to be coping with. Praying for a calm and reviving week for you next week. Hang on in there.

For now, have some Brew and Biscuit and some Thanks to cheer you up.

MaryBS · 20/10/2011 07:17

Praise God Caz, and can't wait to see the baby pix! :)

Prayers for calm for you Sooz (wonders how long it would take to get to Nottingham from here...)

DutchOma · 20/10/2011 08:51

Hopefully you slept a bit and things will look a bit brighter this morning BES Only two more days to the start of the half term holiday.

DutchOma · 20/10/2011 08:53

We have been asked to move the knit club from the concourse into the creche (those of you who came to the meet-up will know what I mean) this morning because there is the funeral of a still born baby going on in church. Don't know the family at all (I think) but would you add your prayers for comfort to mine, please?

Bluetinkerbell · 20/10/2011 09:00

nottingham is 2 hours north of the last meetup Mary. about 1 hour 20 mins from birmingham, 1 hour from leicester 1 and a bit hours from sheffield, 20 mins from derby.

well, I have asked a couple of the mums in the playground who are also new to the school and they were also expecting work to be on display, as in reception. at least I was not the only one.

counting the hours til friday night. one more get up, one more packed lunch and 5 more school runs in the roadworks traffic.

ZipadiSoozi · 20/10/2011 10:14

bes - I'm having a nervous breakdown just reading your post, you poor thing, your head must be exploding, prayers for everything to sort out quickly, you can't carry on like this, are you getting any support! family? xxxxxx

Mary - I'm fine really, still feeling calm from our mn meet in Northants, which is good, my goal is to make all challenges achievable without too much stress she says through gritted teeth Grin I'm trying Grin

The meditation classes are going ok, last night we meditated through art, having Isiah 49: 1-6 The Servant of the Lord in mind, It was done with soothing music in the background, I can meditate with music or art easily, (more my comfort zone) so I will build on that, but I don't think its what is expected in the long run of the group, but I don't mind because obviously meditation is each to their own, I praise the Lord I have found a way!!!!!!

Continued prayers for Alice's Mum, family, my dsis and nephew xxxx

ZipadiSoozi · 20/10/2011 10:16

DO - That is such sad news, my prayers for the family

madhairday · 20/10/2011 11:25

DO - praying for that family :(

Oh BES sounds such hard going for you. where abouts are you in the country again? Can any of us help at all? Praying for you.

TUO _ i really hate the whole halloween stuff, ds' cubs are doing a sleepover but thankfully we're away but the way it's worded is just horrible imo, stuff like sleeping in coffins and scaring away the poltergeists, yes I know all in fun but I really feel very uncomfortable about it all. I do give out sweets though and tell the children they've made an effort etc when they come round. We do some kind of light party or something usually, not sure if we are this year.

Could do with some prayer here. DH just called to say that school has called to inform that DS has bitten a girl in the lunch queue today. Sad I have to take DS to head theacher's office when I pick him up this afternoon. Feeling nervous and don't know what to expect. It's not really helped by me feeling that he doesn't really like school. Sad

blackeyedsusan · 20/10/2011 13:53

oh dear gc.

I suppose they are going to tell you it is not acceptable behaviour and what sanctions they are going to impose. they may say he has to come home for lunch iin future. (but I would have thought that you would have know about previous difficulties with behaviour if so) it will all depend on the reasons for biting, ranging from unprovoked to biting back after he has been bitten. you will not know until you have been to see them. I would hope they are going to tell you how they are going to prevent it happening again and what support they are going to give ds with his behaviour if necessary (depends on whether this is a one off or not, you have not said)

have prayed.

DutchOma · 20/10/2011 13:56

Eek, Gingercurl. Prayers for you and ds. Let us know what the outcome is.

blackeyedsusan · 20/10/2011 20:34

how did it go gc?

thejaffacakesareonme · 20/10/2011 21:31

Oh Ginger, poor you. I hope it went OK.

gingercurl · 20/10/2011 22:05

Thanks for your prayers. It went OK. The head teacher had dealt with it when it happened. DS had been spoken with/to and punished (sat out on a chair away from the other children) and he had been quite sad and had said he was sorry. The reason for wanting to see me with DS was to inforce that what he did was wrong. The head reiterated what (I expect) he had told DS earlier, gently but very firmly, and that he must never do that again. The head also told me it had been completely unexpected to the staff (he's not seen as a trouble maker), but also that the first term is difficult for some kids in reception and they can react in the most unexpected ways. I don't think that they now suddenly see him as a "problem child", but that they wanted to address it firmly from the start.

TotallyUnheardOf · 20/10/2011 23:51

Gingercurl... I am glad it was OK. It sounds as if your ds probably shocked himself by reacting the way he did and was genuinely sorry. It probably all happened in the heat of the moment and he didn't even think about what he was doing - it just happened. It sounds as if the Head dealt with it well, too. Scary and sad for you, though.

DO - Prayers for that family; how very very sad.

Caz - Xander is beautiful. Just gorgeous. Congratulations again.

MHD - That sounds really inappropriate for cubs. No way would I let my dds go to something like that - nor would they want to; they'd be totally freaked. What I liked best last year was the little town where my friend lived (very small-town Midwest America) had a 'pumpkin tree'. It was a huge stand, sort of pyramid-shaped, covered in pumpkins, so that it looked like a huge pumpkin covered Christmas tree. It was right in the middle of the crossroads in the middle of the town (yes... the crossroads... it was that kind of a town Smile) and it looked great. I guess I am just easily pleased.

Also pleased to report that today got better after a tough meeting this morning. So perhaps the week will end more happily than it began in TUOsville!

Thanks all for your prayers. They are all reciprocated.

blackeyedsusan · 21/10/2011 21:46

half term. yay! we went to the park and had tea in the car as I really could not face cooking. (thanks to mr tesco) then bath and straight to bed without going down first. (seems more bearable (sp?) ) ds is still not asleep, can hear the odd noise above the (quietish) music from downstairs and the fizz bang woof, woof, woof, woof of the occasional firework and annoyed dog.

madhairday · 22/10/2011 11:21

Morning everyone

gc...glad it went ok in the end.

BES - yay it's half term - hope you have a restful one.

Please can you pray for me tomorrow - preaching with dh and terrified!!!

DutchOma · 22/10/2011 11:29

MHD So was St Paul terrified, you are in good company Smile

ZipadiSoozi · 22/10/2011 11:53

Madhairday - prayers for you, get your acting skills together and pretend to be someone else! seriously, hope everything goes ok.

My first bike ride at work yesterday with a small group of children, was mayhem, one fell of their bike and another child got stung by a wasp/bee, I had to abort the ride and take them back to school! but we are all ok and safe thats the main point. Hmm quite a scary responsibility though.

Alice's funeral is next Wednesday, her mum is doing as well as can be expected, apparently Alice just had a headache and collapsed at home with her mum, her mum feels blessed by the fact that Alice was actually at home, because she had had her hair done and was going out that night, she could have been in a car or not with her friends etc she also feels blessed that it was instant and that Alice did not suffer at all! They had also had a lovely day off work together, praise God for this ladys faith and strength.

I have a card for Alice's mum and want to put in a bible verse, can anybody help me choose something suitable? pleeeeese, I'm rubbish at that sort of thing. I just don't want to get it wrong, I know its a personal thing but it would really help and I know Alice's mum from church and I'm sure it would add to the comfort and support she is getting.

Thank you
xxxxxx

blackeyedsusan · 22/10/2011 13:29

ho hum. last week h arranged to come early today to see the children. he rang with less than an hours notice that he had other important stuff to do first. ok so the stuff is important, but the hours notice was annoying. thank god I hadn't told the children.

MaryBS · 22/10/2011 14:04

Prayers for courage for you MHD.

Sooz How about Revelation 21 second half of verse 3 and verse 4: (perhaps without the last line of 4)

See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
4 he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.
