Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

how did it go gc?

got a nice but stressful day tomorrow... dd's birthday party, only one hour after another party in same class... eek!
double eek as they are opposite sides of the city.

mary how are you?

tacp?

gingercurl · 06/08/2011 06:42

Thanks for your prayers everyone. Yesterday went OK. Every now and then it was almost as if I could feel God beside me, which was nice.
I'm in a very difficult situation with my research. It isn't going the way it should. I feel completely lost as to what am/should be doing. I'm seriously running out of time and I don't know how to recover it. The problem has really come to a head in the last couple of days. I haven't slept much at all because I'm so worried and stressed about it. My blood pressure so high, I can hear the blood rushing around in my head. I think I need some sort of miracle.

blackeyedsusan · 06/08/2011 10:07

stop panicking, deep breaths and think whaat you need to prioritise. what is going to get the most marks(if that is how it works) I hope you get more sleep tonight. I managed to lay awake for a while worrying because i am imagining dd's party venue has been double booked, so know that stopping panicking is not easy.

DutchOma · 06/08/2011 10:28

Gingercurl, you know the saying: "when in doubt don't" Or as scripture puts it: Be still and know that I am God. That in itself is a miracle, isn't it?

Hello everyone!

Back from the most amazing week at New Wine! Feel utterly floored and awed by God's presence. Love it love it love it. Had such a lovely week with friends too, just a good giggle which was sorely needed. Got back last night and we are absolutely shattered. But feel ready for the next stage, which is moving next monday (aaagh) God is good. I have been SO well. All week, I've just had strength, enough breath, it's been fantastic.

So just scanning the thread....I see DO you have a new grandaughter - oh wow, big congratulations, how lovely!

Praying for you BES, and TACP. Praying God's presence will overwhelm you and keep you at peace in the midst of it all.

Lovely to be back, but didn't want to come home!

DutchOma · 06/08/2011 13:21

More potty where it shouldn't be BES?

party day dutchoma. trying to remember everything and hoping that you don't let down a sensitive 5 yr old by forgetting something/being late/getting stuck in traffic in a mad dash across the city.

blackeyedsusan · 06/08/2011 20:54

it went ok though in the end. though far too much food. don't have to make lunch for tomorrow though!

DutchOma · 06/08/2011 21:25

Well, we got to see Rose Eloise this evening, they called in on their way home from the hospital. I've been trying to upload photos for Facebook, but it is messing about to a great extent, not publishing all of the photos and cropping them and all sorts.
Will have another go tomorrow.

blackeyedsusan · 06/08/2011 21:25

how's that new baby? congratulations.

4 days on party Shock 1 day taking 2 children round 2 supermarkets, 1 day preparing food, one day packing the car and driving around and doing the party, and tomorrow there is a mountain of washing up.

waves to madhair

DutchOma · 06/08/2011 21:26

She is, of course absolutely beautiful and very, very darling and I was most grateful to her parents for bringing her round so Bob could see her too.

x post. fantastic. I hope mum is feeling not too sore with plenty of paain relief.

blackeyedsusan · 06/08/2011 21:29

ooooo gone all goooy.

DutchOma · 06/08/2011 21:30

Yes, she is still having pain relief. We kept her up too long though, she looked quite drawn and should have said she wanted to go home, I kept asking but she said she was ok. We were about the first ones, apart from her parents of course, to see her.

Prayers please for my DS1 aged 22. Home after a very long (and unexpected) absence - was in/out psychiatric hospital when away and tried suicide. Now home and things are so difficult. Younger siblings don't want him here - he was very difficult and aggressive in the past. He is having psychotic episodes and is very difficult to support.

Mental Health team slow/reluctant to help - and as carers DH and I are getting next to no support.

Please pray for him - his birthday is on Monday - same day as anniversary of my dear dad's death. At this rate, only DH and I will wish him Happy Birthday and give him a present - siblings don't talk to him. He has no local friends.

Please pray for my DS1, that he is healed and happy once again and that he gets help and encouragement from the agencies. Also suitable supported accommodation as the situation at home is intolerable. I am exhausted - sleeping on a sofa as have given up bedroom to DS1 who seems so unhappy, lost, withdrawn and ill.

Please also pray for my younger ones - that they have patience, understanding and that they realise that DH and I do understand their anger and fear. For my family - please God may it come together and find peace. I don't know why, but after a particularly bad night the other day, I asked one of my Muslim students to pray for my son - that was all. She said "Ishallah" and I could have wept. It's the occasional kindnesses like this that somehow keep me going.

Thank you xxx
Reading through posts and keeping you in my prayers tonight

MaryBS · 07/08/2011 06:23

Prayers RoseWei, is the hospital any help/support? What a lot you're having to go through, praying that you feel God's presence in all of this, and for healing for your son...

thejaffacakesareonme · 07/08/2011 09:27

RoseWei - what a difficult situation for you. Prayers for your son, you and your family.

amberlight · 07/08/2011 09:53

RoseWei, many prayers for you. I was a carer for a relative who was in and out of psychiatric care for many many years and know how much it took out of us. Really hoping there can be good support for all of you somehow...

Prayers for everyone else too.

Tomorrow is my last chemo session (well, I hope and pray it's my last). They're trying new pills to help with side effects so I don't have heart problems like last time. Prayers would be appreciated.

DutchOma · 07/08/2011 12:59

Praying for your son RoseWei, that he may indeed find health and happiness and also for you and your husband that you will find the appropriate support very soon.

Praying for Amber too.
