Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Hello ladies - been lurking for a while

Sweetest and Amber - prayers for your treatment.

PA - praying DDs belongings have been returned to her. Is this the same DD that was in the car crash? If so, she's having some year! Hope the holiday is going well.

TACP - prayers for you and your DS. Both my DSs have been biters on occasion and I feel for you. Hopefully it is a phase and he'll come out of it soon. Something I've noticed with DS2 is that he only tends to bite now when he is very frustrated - he has some speech problems and sometimes he gets so frustrated with trying to communicate that he just gives up and bites instead!

MHD - prayers for you and your family as you start your new adventure. How is your DS now?

MaryBS · 02/08/2011 09:09

prayers for you all... not very good at the moment for reading and responding individually...

gingercurl · 02/08/2011 10:39

Prayers for everyone as I read through.

How are you, Mary? praying that God will give you whatever you need today.

Have just been lurking on the "Catholic reconcile vatican's actions"-thread and am feeling quite sad by it all. It just seems that people of no faith keep going on and on with their questions but are not willing to accept even try to understand any of the answers given. I really feel for the many catholics that are horrified and feel betrayed by what has been revealed. I pray God will lead the Catholic church and all of Christianity into something righteous and new.

MaryBS · 02/08/2011 11:18

I think thats one of the threads I've hidden, gingercurl. Firstly as its hard to justify the unjustifiable, not that I'd want to, but secondly, its hard to discuss things with people who just want to attack and protest. I don't know much other than what has been reported in the press, but on the other hand I've found that when I do know about stuff, the press generally twist and pervert the truth into their version of the truth. So I just stay away, and offer up a prayer for all concerned, but particularly the victims.

I am OK, quite busy what with it being school holidays, and new vicar, and bringing her up to speed on things (plus I think I'm talking her to death, LOL)

thejaffacakesareonme · 02/08/2011 13:43

I've been lurking on that thread too and also find it very sad. I thought about posting on it at one point when someone tried to say that all Catholics should give up their faith because of what a small minority of people have done but chickened out because I know very little about the claims that child abuse was known about throughout the hierarchies. I just found the whole idea of telling people to give up their faith really insulting.

gingercurl · 02/08/2011 14:51

You're probably right in hiding the thread being the wisest thing to do, Mary .

practicallyimperfect · 02/08/2011 17:01

Hello ladies. I haven't been around much. I can't make the meet I'm afraid as we have family coming to stay.

However on Saturday we had our marriage blessing and thanksgiving for ds. It was lovely and far more emotional than I expected.

ZipadiSoozi · 02/08/2011 20:27

Mary - Shock talking your new vicar to death Shock - tea and cake are the answer, slows the blurb down, Brew Biscuit mine will be hot chocolate and chocolate chip muffin please! Grin

DutchOma · 02/08/2011 20:27

I wondered if it had happened yet. Glad it went off alright and that you found a blessing in it.

Can people who can come to the meet-up please get in touch if they have not already done so and sign up over on the other thread. Not a lot have done so after the initial enthusiasm, but I think there will be enough people to let it go ahead. It's less than a fortnight away.

Can I ask for prayer again for ds and ddil whose baby hopefully will be born on Thursday, cs, two weeks ahead of the due date, because of OC.

Teaandcakeplease · 02/08/2011 20:47

I find tea and cake the answer usually too Wink

Thank you for the prayers and kind words about DS. Yes some of it is frustration I think. I've followed DO's cue's and just put him for a sleep when tired/ yawning for the last couple of days and not worried about it all. So bed time is staggered with DD going first as she's shattered after being up all day and then DS later once he's more tired. He's still an early riser no matter what I do it seems so I've given up Smile He's still being unkind to his sister and vice versa so more prayers please if you can squeeze me in as I'm finding it all so wearing Sad

He won't settle for toffee tonight and keeps coming to his bedroom door. Their room is roasting to be fair. So off I go again to try and settle him. DD has slept through all his nonsense so far tonight.

blackeyedsusan · 02/08/2011 22:15

grrr.... it must be catching tacp. after several weeks of no biting ds has bitten dd twice tonight... just as daddy was leaving. dd has a nasty bruise on her back. I am trying not to resort to the tea and cake coffee and biscuits for stress as weight is creeping back on.

amberlight · 03/08/2011 05:10

Takes ages to load mumsnet on my mobile here on hol, but keeping prayers going.

ZipadiSoozi · 03/08/2011 10:02

DO - ooh Nanny, so exciting, prayers a plenty for Thursday! xx

TACP - I'm sure I can SQeeeeeeeeZZ you in Grin

Its only week 2 and I am also pulling my hair out, but ours is total boredom, we have to do something little every couple of hours to stop ours squabbling, (the list of things to do depleting very quickly).

Prayers for all our bites and boredom. Hmm

Amber - Happy holidays xx

blackeyedsusan · 03/08/2011 19:38

grrr that boy has pushed dd and knocked over a potty full of poo and wee onto the carpet though mostly on the messy mat, which is now errmm very messy. dd was covered and has been washed and changed. they are now upstairs, tea is overcooked and uneaten and i am just waiting for the anti bac spray to settle and soak into the carpet before resuming mopping and cleaning. it is going to be another late night.

on the bright side, i am watching grown up tv and mning whilst I mop up... Grin

MaryBS · 04/08/2011 07:45

Nightmare, BES! Hope things improve soon!

MaryBS · 04/08/2011 08:59

Prayers for DO's DS and DDIL, and their little one, as DDIL goes for her induction today.

DutchOma · 04/08/2011 09:01

I have posted a message on the meet-up board here

Please let me know what you would like to do.

Ds and ddil should be at the hospital now having dgd2.
And I heard from dd that she has a temperature of 41 and no-one to take care of her or of the two children.
Can I have some prayers, please.

OP posts:
DutchOma · 04/08/2011 09:02

That was a x-post with Mary, so prayers answered before they were uttered.
God is good.

OP posts:
DutchOma · 04/08/2011 09:04

And it's a section, not an induction, so we should have some news soon. They had to be there for 8 and she was first on the list.

OP posts:
thejaffacakesareonme · 04/08/2011 11:40

DO - very exciting! Don't worry if you haven't heard any news by now. I had an ELCS for DS2 as he was breech and although we were first on the list they had so many emergency c-sections to do first that it was the afternoon before we went into theatre.

DutchOma · 04/08/2011 11:48

Rose Eloise was born at 9.45 6lb 15 oz Praise the Lord

OP posts:
MaryBS · 04/08/2011 12:11

LOL DO, yes I thought that was interesting too, that we were both posting at the same time! Thank God for a safe delivery, how are Rose's parents doing? You must be feeling pleased too :)

ZipadiSoozi · 04/08/2011 12:54

DO - Congratulations on the safe arrival of your grandchild, prayers everyone ok! xx beautiful name btw

SweetestThing · 04/08/2011 22:31

DO, what wonderful news! Another little life in God's hands :)

gingercurl · 05/08/2011 09:24

Congratulations DO!
Could do with some prayers for me today. Can't go into it. But I have a very stressful day ahead of me.
