Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

If I know what will happen and have a chance to test an environment first, I'm absolutely fine with things. Things like being out in the rain are just one of those things...rain happens. It hurts, but I can put a brolly up. I don't need it to stop raining. Same with churches - I dont need them to do something different, I need to know how to protect myself from any resulting overload.

I love Taize music, I find it incredibly relaxing. The last Taize service I took, I relaxed TOO much and nearly forgot to continue with the service! :o

Tonight was lovely. One thing upset me quite a bit, but that wasn't to do with the service or the new priest, and hopefully we can get it sorted without any further pain.

PlasticFlamingo · 26/07/2011 00:33

Hello, I often read this thread and pray but I am normally too shy/unsure to post. Blush

Could I delurk and ask for you to pray for my Sil? She had a scan yesterday and found her pregnancy isn't as far along as she thought and then started bleeding tonight. Please pray for that little bean to stay put. Thank you. Smile

CheerfulYank · 26/07/2011 00:54

I don't post much either Flamingo, but I will definitely pray for the little one.

MaryBS · 26/07/2011 07:58

Hi PlasticFLamingo and welcome. Prayers for your SIL, and that the little bean will stick. God loves all little children.

WB CheerfulYank.

DutchOma · 26/07/2011 09:10

Prayers for your sil's little baby Flamingo

Could I also ask for prayers for ds and ddil's pregnancy.
As a total co-incidence Hmm ddil is suffering with the condition Mary mentioned (OC) earlier in the thread. At the moment nobody is too worried, she is being monitored a bit more closely and they are talking about inducing her at 38 weeks which is Saturday week (eek). It rather takes the shine of the "natural" birth experience they had hoped for.

MadHairMoody · 26/07/2011 17:38

Praying for your ddil DO and for Flamingos dsil. Lord, please keep these tiny ones safe.

amberlight · 26/07/2011 17:58

Much prayer continuing for all. Got operation date - 6th September. And they will do the final chemo thingy on 8 Aug as planned but with extra tablets to stop my heart playing up.

SweetestThing · 26/07/2011 18:11

So much to pray for - thankfully there's no limit on prayer!!

I didn't realise you had to have surgery as well, amber. I hope you recover quickly from your final chemo to be in the best physical condition for your op. Sounds as if they are taking good care of you.

First of 30 sessions of radiotherapy will be tomorrow. I feel nervous but know it has to be done, even though the side effects won't be pleasant. I had a reiki session today from a friend and it made me feel nicely relaxed afterwards - has anyone else tried it? It was my first time.

PositiveAttitude · 27/07/2011 09:55

Grrr Just lost long post.

Summary: going on holiday today so running out of time rapidly.
Prayers for everyone, especially Sweetest today.

You may remember me asking for prayer for DD1 as her possessions are all in Blackpool. Still not resolved, but seen on facebook that the person who has it all is boasting about doing a large carboot sale and selling a load of stuff and getting lots of money. I fear this may all be DD1's stuff!! GONE!!! Sad

blackeyedsusan · 27/07/2011 10:16

oh pa that is awful.

hope all goes well blue and sweetest today.

am grumpy because I have a grumbly tummy and need to stay home

DutchOma · 27/07/2011 11:37

Have a happy holiday PA Surely that would be classed as theft? Is the police aware? What a thing to happen on the eve of your holiday. Is dd1 coming with you or is she staying at home?

thanks all! I feel so nervous, feel worse than on Saturday when we had the funeral. There are so many what if's going through my head, although I know I have to trust in God and not feel guilty about anything. It is so difficult!

DutchOma · 27/07/2011 12:10

"Oh make but trial of His love..."

Praying for you Blue.

Sweetest, yes, surgery, probably radiotherapy after that, then a year of herceptin which tends to cause heart problems. Not a fun bundle but I dare say I'll get through it. Keeping much prayer going.

And much prayer for everyone else too as I'm reading through. Bluetinkerbell, I think funerals are easier than the bits afterwards, yes - at least there's something to focus on during the day itself and everyone there to support...but afterwards there's sort of silence and questions.

PA, I really hope they haven't....goodness me.....

Bluetinkerbell · 27/07/2011 16:43

Hi all,

We've just got back from the hospital.
We found out Sterre was a little baby girl! (It was funny now I think back of the funeral my DD was telling everyone about her baby sister, and she was right!)
She had severe abnormalities and a heart defect which were really incompatible with life. The chances of this recurring in a future pregnancy are extremely slim. We received a copy of the postmortem results and the consultant was very friendly, he didn't explain things in detail, but he said that wasn't really necessary. If I would have more questions after reading the report, I was very welcome to get back to him and he would try to explain.
He also said that the bleeding I had early in pregnancy didn't have any effect on what happened, it was something that went wrong at conception, with the splitting of the cells.
I feel quite relieved now, knowing there was really nothing we could have done, or that I didn't do anything wrong.
Thank you all for your very kind prayers!

SweetestThing · 27/07/2011 17:18

Blue, I'm so glad you feel reassured by what you found out this afternoon and that you know there was nothing you could have done to cause or prevent it. Sterre was a much-loved little girl when she was inside you and is still much loved by her family on earth and in heaven.

DutchOma · 27/07/2011 17:56

So glad you found at least some answers Blue and that you feel reassured and encouraged.

OP posts:
blackeyedsusan · 27/07/2011 21:42

sweetest, how are you? did it go all right today?

caz, how are you? hang on in there. thinking of you. how many weeks now?

pa, I hope you are not reading this and got off on holiday safely....

Bluetinkerbell · 27/07/2011 21:55

Sterre had a condition called triploidy, which basically means she had 3 sets of chromosomes instead of the normal 2. I did my research now Wink it happened because the egg got fertilized by 2 sperm at the same time and the chances of that happening again are very slim. So the consultant gave us the go ahead of trying again when we're ready ourselves.
I feel very peaceful and calm tonight, and keep smiling about the thought of Sterre as a girl, a little sister for my DD1.
I also feel glad that God took the heartbreaking decision for us to decide to let Sterre's heart stop as I wouldn't have been able to decide this if she would have been still alive during my 20 week scan.

amber praying that your treatment will go well!

Bes I pray your tummy has settled now

Sweetest I hope your radiotherapy went well today!

PA happy holidays and I pray your DD's situation gets solved soon!

MaryBS · 27/07/2011 22:17
