Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Happy birthday Tea isn't it a lovely sunny day to be having your birthday!

waw MHD wish your DD congratulations on her confirmation! what a great experience she got there! Reminds me of a Taizé song we sang at our wedding Eat this bread

PositiveAttitude · 27/06/2011 10:59

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TACP.

Sorry not have posted for a while. RL is more than a bit hectic at the moment. just finished A-levles with DD2, thank God!!

Prayers for everyone as I read through, especially Blue, Caz, Sweetest, Amber and Jen.

Life is pretty good here at the moment. Some big decisions to be made about our future. I may be able to share more with you soon. Wink

Yesterday's sermon at church was awful here too Mary. I even think I may have to speak to the minister as I thought it totally inappropriate and self centred on his behalf. Hmm

Hope DO is having a fab break.

"see" you all soon. Smile

I am, thanks

blackeyedsusan · 27/06/2011 21:35

did you have a good birthday tea?

sorry, seem tohave emptied the thread with the screeching singing

Teaandcakeplease · 27/06/2011 23:13

Yes it was such a blessed day with loads of Godincidents Grin Met up with a bunch of girls at Cassiobury park whilst DD had a morning at pre school, totally unexpected invite first thing then she skipped nursery (I rang in, love the fact it's not compulsory yet) and we hung out at another gorgeous park with another pal this afternoon. Then helped at the HTB DSR course tonight and now home. Happy happy happy. Love that God answers prayers, even a little one for me Smile

DutchOma · 28/06/2011 08:31

God is good...all the time.

Going home again tomorrow. It's still very hot here, but there will be a different timetable on the trains this afternoon because they expect very bad weather with gusts of wind and hail and thunder. I was going to see my youngest brother this afternoon, but have cancelled, can't jeopardise the journey home.

madhairday · 28/06/2011 13:34

That's brilliant TACP, you made me smile.

DO - praying for your journey, that it is easy, and straightforward.

Please can you pray for my dd. She is being bullied again. I feel so very helpless and just get thrown back to myself at her age experiencing the same stuff. Why are some kids so vile? Please pray for her, I'm so worried. Hoping the new school will be a new start, praying for special friends there and no more teasing. Being dyspraxic she just comes in for a lot of stick and feels she can't do anything as well as most people, and unfortunately her little brother is better at most things, and she sees that, it's so hard to know how to handle it when she makes these observations. We just reasssure her we love her for who she is and don't want her to be somebody else. :( Prayers and any advice appreciated.

gingercurl · 28/06/2011 17:44

prayers for all.

We have this week off and were supposed to go away camping, but our plans were scuppered by events and so we are having a holiday from home by trying to do something different/holiday-like every day. DS seems happy enough. As long as we are doing things together he doesn't really mind what. We went cycling along the river (Trent) yesterday and today my bum really hurts. Why did bicycle seats never bother me when I was younger?

Bluetinkerbell · 28/06/2011 21:19

MHD I pray for your DD! I hope she make very special friends soon!
I know what it feels like being bullied! A new school might well be the solution!

DO glad you had a good time!

I'm off to Belgium on Friday until Sunday for my sister's hen do! Looking forward to enjoying my truly missed Belgian fries!

Meeting the funeral director tomorrow, so asking for some strength to get through that!

mufti · 29/06/2011 07:55

praying for strength for BLUE tomorrow , and for your daughter MHD, i was bullied too.
thanking GOD for my little blessing and miracle, who turns 5 today. Smile

amberlight · 29/06/2011 08:16

MHD, having gone through years of bullying, much prayer for your dd. If it's happening at school and is any way disability-related, the school absolutely must act or they are in breach of the Equality Act provisions etc. What are they doing to help safeguard her in the new school?

Prayers all round for people. Big meeting today at lunchtime and I'm nervous about it. First time I've seen this group of chiefs of the autism industry since my breast cancer diagnosis and no idea what sort of response there might be/not be (which is scary for an Amber as I like to be able to make a good guess on what questions I might be asked/what people might say). Could do with prayer that I cope...

SweetestThing · 29/06/2011 12:16

Prayers for everyone esp MND's DD - our DD was bullied in year 5 and it was so painful to see her sad and afraid.

Referral to Royal Marsden has come through so we go there on Friday. Finally, the next stage can begin, even though it sounds as if it will be pretty gruelling.

SweetestThing · 29/06/2011 12:17

Sending big supportive prayers for amber too - you will cope, with God at your shoulder giving it a squeeze when you need it.

amberlight · 29/06/2011 15:58

I have no idea what God's up to but that was one heck of a scary unexpected outcome in that meeting Confused Prayers please that it isn't going to be a whole new nightmare for me...

and prayers for everyone else continuing...

Bluetinkerbell · 29/06/2011 20:15

Got through the meeting this morning! Thank God for tissues!

Then one of my church friends announced her unexpected pregnancy to me this afternoon... she wanted to tell me in person before she told everyone else! She felt very bad having to tell me, but I was very happy for her!
Just need a little prayer to be able to cope with all these pregnant women around me! Please let me be one of them again soon!

Prayers for you amber

and for everyone else!

MaryBS · 29/06/2011 21:10

Lots to pray for, just keep praying, praying, praying...

Bluetinkerbell · 29/06/2011 21:19

haha Mary you remind me of Dory in Finding Nemo Wink

blackeyedsusan · 29/06/2011 23:35

blue, i had an earlier miscarriage than you, (8 weeks, stopped developing at 5) I did get pregnant again very quickly (made a booking appointment for ds and had to cancel the appointment for lost baby at the same time) (lmp was the miscarriage, that was ermm "odd") (might need longer to recover as you were further along) it is possible, but do make sure you are "ready". have you checked out the miscarriage association website? it was very good. i do know that sometimes I find it strange looking at ds and thinking that he may not have been here apart from having to go through a miscarriage.

SESthebrave · 29/06/2011 23:50

Blue -
I'm with you on suddenly seeming to be syrrounded by pg women. One of my team phoned me earlier in the week to say she would be off sick due to morning sickness. Really pleased for her as I think she's been trying for a while but it does make me a bit selfishly sad for me. My mc was only early at 9wks though so can't imagine what you are going through.

The good news here though is that EPU scanned me today and - despite still getting a BFP this morning - everything is clear. They expect my BFP to turn BFN within the week and then we will probably be ttc again. V scared about it though!

Amber - I often wonder what God's plan is or how he makes sense of what is happening. Prayers for you and the scary outcome from your meeting.

SweetestThing - love that image of God being at our shoulder giving it a squeeze when we need it :)
Prayers for you and the next stage, particularly Friday.

mufti - happy birthday to your little 5yo :)

MHD - prayers for your DD for now and for her future friends and school

gingercurl - hope you're enjoying your week off despite plans being scuppered

DO - hope your journey home went ok and the weather didn't turn too bad.

TACP - prayers of thanks for God answering prayers and a good birthday for you!

blackeyedsusan · 30/06/2011 07:41

uuuurrrgg was up til 2 am trying to unblock the bath and basin... a wee bit tired. also h is coming to get some of his stuff today. he is moving to our town and i am a bit unsettled by it. he was safely away before and now he is around and I may bump into him. he will be back at church too so not looking forward to that. will probably have to tell them why i am a bit off with him..

MaryBS · 30/06/2011 08:36

Blue, I often get called Dory by my DH, because I can be so forgetful! Prayers for you too...

BES, prayers for some rest for you today. Your h needs to be a little more considerate, given the way he has treated you. Do you think he would steer clear of church a little longer, perhaps attend a diff one, to give you some space and a place where you can feel safe?

SES, I LOVE your name :)

Prayers for you Amber, for you ST, and for your DD MHD. The school was brilliant at sorting out DD's bullying problem, any hint of trouble and all the children concerned were brought in separately to discuss, and that happened every time there was an incident.
