Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Me neither Amber, give some strange visual imagery, thats for sure! Whats the research about Gingercurl? (Apols if you've explained before...)

Please God I can help someone, I hope. I spoke to someone today, and her friend has a boy aged 3-4 just diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. She is struggling at church with him, and I pray that she will get in touch and I will be of some help to her...

gingercurl · 24/06/2011 14:47

DH started saying that a few years ago when we both travelled a lot in our respective jobs and it just stuck. After you've been driving for 2 or 3 hours on the motorway, it can feel as if you are still driving for quite a long time after you arrive and even if you are not physically sitting in the car anymore, it can still feel as if you've got the car attached to you somehow. It's a bit like feeling the ground rolling when you go ashore after spending a few hours on a boat IYSWIM.

Mary, no need to apologise as I don't think I have mentioned it anywhere on here. I'm doing a PhD in knowledge management for large and longterm projects that involve a lot of companies (and agencies), that normally compete with each other, coming together to work in partnerships. At the moment I am doing case studies, but as the organisations involved tend to be spread out all over the place, it involves a lot of travel.

gingercurl · 24/06/2011 15:01

Grin at thought of Mary's visual imagery Wink

JentlyDoesIt · 25/06/2011 13:23

Hi honeys, we're home Grin

Had a wonderful few days away, armpit deep in washing now Grin feel very chilled out & ready to face the world again! My mum was amazing with the kids & letting me have a break.

Have caught up with the thread and prayers for all, will do better post later xx

Teaandcakeplease · 25/06/2011 13:42

Hello it's me the infrequent visitor to the thread Blush

After my desperate request last Sunday, things have been so so much better since, on the eating front. Thank you BES for the link, I did read it when I lurked earlier this week. Thank you for the prayers.

Quite tired at the moment as the kids are sleeping badly. OW has moved down now, so there are added complications there with the dynamics changing on contact and other shenanigans from her and ExH being swayed by her. So the DCs are seeing him a lot less than they used to.

madhairday · 25/06/2011 14:44

Morning :)

Hello TACP, so glad things have improved a little, do hope things settle down with sleeping, must be so hard for you with all that is going on :(

Hi Jently! Glad you had a good time.

We had good news, the house is all completed, so we are ready to go, just need the decorating sorted. Getting excited (and scared) now. It's a weird time!

Hope you're all having a good weekend. DD is being confirmed tomorrow so we have excitement here - please can you pray for her as she makes this step?

MaryBS · 25/06/2011 15:53

Went to a St Ethedreda's day procession and re-enactment today, which was great fun, followed by a service in the cathedral. Now I was REALLY struggling with the imagery in the sermon, with "blessed are the cheesemakers", being like salt and therefore something to savour, rather than tasting like papier mache, a seal (most people know how I struggle with seals) and the worst of all, being Jesus's heart on the outside of the body! This was a very entertaining sermon by our new diocesan bishop!

gingercurl · 25/06/2011 17:39

It sounds interesting, Mary . (Seals? Wax or mammal? Apologies if I should know.)
Good news MHD. I hope you and your DD have a great day tomorrow.
Glad you got a bit of a break Jently.
Hopefully things will settle down again for you and the DC TACP . It must be confusing for them.
Slow Saturday here. I fell asleep on the sofa after lunch while DH and DS were baking cupcakes in the kitchen. I woke up in time to put the kettle on while they were decorating them with icing and sprinkles.
Praying.

MaryBS · 25/06/2011 18:55

My problem is, gingercurl, whenever I hear of seals (as in the wax or other paper sealing variety) I tend to think small grey seals. So "set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm" tends to lead to some weird pictures in my mind :o

blackeyedsusan · 25/06/2011 19:55

thanks a bunch mary, Wink all I can her now is honking in my head.... grrrr... (probably watched too much charlie and lola and her flippin seal toy.. ) good job I wasn't there as I would have been rolling around on the floor laughing... have problems when they pray for concorde too (why not 747's?)

have been to a childrens party with dd and ds tagging along. also braved the delights of tescos on a saturday afternoon. got a very wet bum as it started to rain whilst I waas changing ds's nappy in the car. ( leaning in, bum sticking out the door eclipsing the sun ) have also braved the loft and yippee have found my missing books... was taking some empty boxes up ready for when we eventually move... but managed to bring more stuff down than take up.

i have brought down h's suitcaase aand his bedspread. he is moving into shred accomodation this week in this city so am feeling a bit unsettled. he has been safely away for 5 months now...

gingercurl · 25/06/2011 20:30

I can see why that would be a problem, Mary . Grin

SESthebrave · 25/06/2011 22:13

Hello everyone. Sorry I've not been on for a few days - been a bit busy!

Have been praying for you all.

Bluetinkerbell - hugs and prayers. Hope you are getting lots of support to get through this.

MHD - prayers for you and your DD for her special day tomorrow

Jently - glad you had a good few days away

TACP - relief and thanks that the eating has been better.

Mary - prayers that God will provide for the lady with the son with Aspergers and that if He can use you in the middle of that to help her, that the right situation will arise.

I'd like to ask for some prayers please. As those of you on the chat thread know, I've recently had an early mc which needed an ERPC on 3rd June. Well, as I'm still getting +ve pg tests, the EPU want to scan me again on Wednesday incase the ERPC wasn't complete. I'm feeling really frustrated that this has been going on so long as we want to take the huge risk (now had 3 mc as well as my wonderful DS) of ttc again v soon as I'm now 38yo and really want DS to have a sibling or two. My ideal outcome would be no need for another ERPC and a BFN in the next couple of days, followed by a successful BFP soon after. I don't ask for much do I?!

Bluetinkerbell · 25/06/2011 22:32

thanks SES we had a very nice day today, just DH and I, we drove all the way from Wolverhampton to the South of Wales and back, all non-motorway, through sleepy romantic villages and stunning landscapes! It was very relaxing and soothing in a way!
Went to Caz and Anabelle's Angel Day Fete! Which was amazingly well organised and raised looooads of money!

mhd I wish your DD a wonderful day tomorrow, I will pray for her making this important step!

bes I thank God for helping you find your missing books!

tea I pray for your children, that they may start sleeping a bit better!

Going to church tomorrow... first time after giving birth to our angel baby Sterre last Monday... please give me strength to get through this. I know it will be good to go to church, just need to be able to cope with all the people asking questions!

Bluetinkerbell · 25/06/2011 22:33

SES I almost forgot, I pray for a BFP for you soon!

amberlight · 26/06/2011 09:20

Prayers all round.

Teaandcakeplease · 26/06/2011 21:13

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm feeling terribly low. No lie in, or breakfast in bed, or presents etc. The DCs are waking so early and sleeping badly right now. Not to mention the usual toddler tantrums and Mondays are a busy day for me. I'm already feeling fed up, as a lone parent it's just like any other day. Silly really. Maybe I place too much emphasise on birthdays Blush

But if you have a spare minute and can pray I really do have "a nice day" that would be lovely. I feel so lonely tonight and tired. Off to bed in a sec.

Bluetinkerbell · 26/06/2011 21:17

Ooooh poor Tea I will pray that you have a lovely birthday tomorrow!

We're meeting with our vicar tomorrow to arrange Sterre's funeral.
Today in church went reasonably well... although I did sob through the sermon and the prayers. Our vicar talked about what to do with our gifts.

SESthebrave · 26/06/2011 21:31

Blue - glad today was ok and prayers for tomorrow's meeting with the vicar.

TACP - happy birthday for tomorrow and prayers that it will be a special day.

Church this morning was packed as the children who received their first holy communion 2 weeks ago were receiving their certificates and a further blessing. It was also very sad that we were missing our priest (the one I mentioned has stepped down due to ill health). There were sheets of paper at the back though for people to write messages to him for a card which was lovely. I never know what to write though!

Prayers for everyone else for whatever the week ahead brings.

CazandBelle · 26/06/2011 21:35

Hello ladies... I just wanted to pop along and thank God for all the support we've been given from everyone in our venture to remember Belle and raise money for Sands for her birthday.

Currently our amazing total is: £5068.46 - with more sponsor money to come in, and Santander's part-matched donation to come.

Love and prayers as always blue I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain. Please know I understand and I'm virtually holding your hand xx

I didn't make it to church this morning, so shattered after yesterday. Slept through alarms and only woke up at 11.30 when the cat had obviously decided she'd had enough of being hungry and started pawing at my face and miaowing at me to wake me up!!

blackeyedsusan · 26/06/2011 23:10

JentlyDoesIt · 27/06/2011 02:27

MaryBS · 27/06/2011 06:32

BES, thats awful, am praying.

Eek re: cat sick, JDI

Thats a brilliant amount of money to raise, Caz, how wonderful :)

Happy Birthday TACP, praying for a lovely day today for you. Looks like its going to be hot and sunny here!

Thinking of you Bluetinkerbell - well done for getting through church, and praying that God strengthens you through this time as you mourn your child.

DS got really really upset before the service yesterday, and I found it really difficult. Having got HIM through the worst of it, it left me feeling all upset, and I had to go outside and have a good cry. I came back in for the sermon, and wished I hadn't bothered, as I found it offensive, twisting the gospel to give a message to the congregation "you must support the new vicar", really hammering it home, as if we would be horrible to her and not support her. Personally I found it so patronising it would make me want to do the exact opposite (although I'd never do it)! And if I felt like, how many others did? But thats by the by. I need more support in church, and I've asked for it, and I've been told "we will do this and that", but its not happening!

blackeyedsusan · 27/06/2011 07:47

haappy birthday to you

Caz - wow! That's awesome. so pleased :)

Mary - that sucks. Hope things get better for you soon at church lovely.

Blue and SES - praying for you both this morning.

Just posted this on the other thread so sorry about c&p, but it was so good!
Had a brilliant day yesterday for dd's confirmation. She was totally made up, and had so much support from family and friends. She was overwhelmed really, and said that at the moment the bishop put his hands on her head to do the 'confirm, o Lord' bit she felt something like water going through her and 'it was like I was thirsty before but then I wasn't.' How cool is that? Still grinning for her. She loved every minute and looked so beautiful in her new dress too. Thanks for your prayers for her :)
