Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Last night the lanterns didn't go to plan. It was just to windy, and when we gave up it started raining too. We got one lit and it shone brightly for Belle, but we couldn't get it to heaven. We sent a pink star balloon to her this afternoon though.

Today has been such a mixture of emotion, as usual the build up has been far worse than the actual day. I've felt remarkably calm for most of the day today where as last Thursday (remember day) I was a complete state. We've cried for the birthday we wish Belle could have but have celebrated her and her 1st birthday with lots of pink, flowers, garden decoration, balloons and candles. I'm glad I did the mess bit last week so I could celebrate her life today.

We've experienced such generosity from everyone today. Lots of messages, cards, flowers, gifts and gestures. Belle's justgiving page has gone nuts today for her birthday. The lovely Mme started a thread in AIBU for her birthday to rally support for her justgiving page too and lots of people have donated. It really was the perfect day to reach our target and go beyond. I think we're going to be gobsmacked at the final figure when I've counted out what we have in cash offline donations too. My friends work have collected almost £500 today, ontop of the walk and the justgiving page and the raffle and everything we'll collect on Saturday. I'm already amazed.

I cannot believe a whole year has passed. Going to finish the day by lighting the lanterns hung outside our house for her. We've decorated the outside of the house today with new flowers and garden ornaments for her. We bought Belle the pink heart one for her birthday and a friend has given us an identical white heart one for her today. They look beautiful together.

Thank you for all your thoughts and wishes xxx

Thats lovely and really touching, Caz, thanks for sharing

Bluetinkerbell · 21/06/2011 23:26

My DD didn't want to go to sleep tonight, and I felt the anger rise inside me, wanting her to go to sleep... I had to walk out of her room and then go back in. She was crying and I started crying as well. I told her I was very sad because of our baby. She started wiping my tears away and said 'I wipe your tears away Mummy! Don't worry!' and kissed my head.
She came back down with us and had some more cuddles and then she said to my DH: 'Mummy is very sad, Daddy! She lost her baby and we have to go and find it!'
We told her we can't do that as we know where the baby is and Sterre is with Jesus now.

MaryBS · 22/06/2011 07:15

Aw Blue, she's so sweet. How are you feeling now?

Bluetinkerbell · 22/06/2011 07:19

madhairday · 22/06/2011 10:14

Caz and Blue ... no words really. Just prayers.

Mufti, that is good news, praise God!

How are you feeling today Amber?

Still wobbly today but feeling more peaceful somehow. God is here. And amazing, awesome and compassionate.

SweetestThing · 22/06/2011 11:19

Prayers and hugs to Caz and Blue. What you have both said about your darling babies is very touching and moving.

mufti, great news! So glad you can put the worry behind you.

Amber, hope you are feeling better and stronger today.

mhd, I am glad God is helping you find peace today.

DO, you always find such comforting and uplifting words for everyone - thank you!

Having a bad day today (and yesterday, if I'm honest). Struggling with the sheer visibility of my disfigurement and feeling my self-confidence ebbing and my positive attitude changing to a facade. Feels as if I am fighting two major battles - one against the cancer and one against the disfigurement. Please pray with me that I find the strength to overcome this and the humility to realise that it doesn't matter what I look life - being alive to enjoy God's world is the real gift.

It just feels so hard today.

Bluetinkerbell · 22/06/2011 11:35

praying for everyone who needs it today!
sometimes I have the feeling I'm constantly praying... even when I'm in the shower.
not just for myself and my family but for other people as well

thejaffacakesareonme · 22/06/2011 11:50

Prayers for all

blackeyedsusan · 22/06/2011 12:28

just been to see the occupational therapist about dd. i suppose it has been such a wait/fight to get ot that i didn't really think of the long term effects of her difficulties. that they wwill be long term is just dawning on me. then there will be the fight to get her supported at school by them buying the right equipment and actually acknowledging that she does have difficulties and needs to be allowed to use alternative methods of recording her work sometimes, especilly as she gets older. when i have seen the other ot in july I will have to make an appointment with the senco to get things moving.

CaptainDippy · 22/06/2011 12:42

Happy Birthday to Beautiful Belle!!! Smile Thoughts and Prayers are with your DH today Caz my lovel. xxxx

Your little one is so sweet, she will give you the strength you need to get you through these painful times. xxxxx Thank you God for Sterre's short, but precious life. (S)he is safe in His loving arms now. xx

Grin Mufti, great news!! xx

How are you doing today amber, you amazing woman, you!! Wink?? xx

I am in awe of your bravery in facing this. I pray God will give you the strength you need. Will they be doing any further aesthetic / cosmetic work in the future? xx

Just ploughing through work in DippyLand ..... My friend's sister who was in the horrific car crash is able to sit up in a special chair now and has been moved to a special rehab centre where she can get everything she needs to aid whatever sort of recovery she is going to have. She is communicating now through gestures and eye movements, but it is looking very likely she will have permanent physical and mental disability and need pretty much 24 hour care. Her poor DH and children Sad Prayers always appreciated for her and for them. A miracle is needed.

My dad is coming down today, he is not bringing his girlfriend this time as she has had horrible rash all over the stomach-area for about 3 weeks now and it is getting worse. Prayers for her discomfort to be alleviated and for the Drs to find a definite cause. I have suggested Shingles or an allergic reaction. Poor thing Sad

amberlight · 22/06/2011 12:55

Many prayers for each of the situations as I'm reading through.

I'm alrightish at the mo, thanks. Not nearly as bad as yesterday (hurrah).

prayers for everyone!

MaryBS · 24/06/2011 09:39

Hugs and prayers for you, bluetinkerbell... praying that today will bring you blessings in abundance.

gingercurl · 24/06/2011 11:19

Praying.

Am feeling particularly sluggish today. Twice this week, I've strapped a car to my bum and done a 300+ mile round trip for the day in order to conduct meetings with different people for my research. It is exhausting.

amberlight · 24/06/2011 12:23

I've never heard that expression before about strapping a car to your bum - brilliant! Grin Prayers for the exhaustion, and for those just trying to get from one minute to the next...
