Labradoodle pup

I’m looking for recommendations for breeders of miniature labradoodle puppies in Scotland. With puppy farms being a worry I’m asking for anyone who can recommend genuine breeders that they have had a puppy from or know someone who has ?
I have looked at some of the well known websites but some of these puppies are nearly £3000 which is a bit much ?

You could try Doodle Rescue, Doodle Trust and Doodle Aid. They often have puppies and it would be nice to rehome one if you can. Cheaper too!

OP we got our lovely Australia labradoodle from Burnbrae labradoodles. She’s 10 now and a fantastic dog. No health problems at all. All pups are in the home with the parents. I would definitely recommend this breeder. It’s a fifth generation dog and bred from two labradoodles so you kind of know what you’re getting.
I would have loved to get a rescue doodle (I’m allergic to dogs that cast) but it’s almost impossible. We had a 5 year old child at the time we got our dog and couldn’t find a rescue that would rehome to a house with children. https://burnbrae-australianlabradoodles.co.uk/

That is a puppy farm!!!
They have 24 bitches listed and they state that some of them "live in a family guardian home". These bitches will be bred multiple times throughout their life, unlike purebred registered bitches from small show kennels. Puppy farming like this is completely unregulated. Nobody with any sense should ever support this industry.

Another puppy farm 🙄

Hoppinggreen · 17/10/2025 14:29

Couldn't be more of a puppy farm if they called themselves Burnbrae Puppy Farm

How does it feel to have contributed to animal abuse and cruelty?

thedogdaysareover51 · 17/10/2025 15:41

If you want an Australian labradoodle in Scotland there’s only a small number of breeders. Burnbrae where we got our lovely dog and 2 or 3 others and they all seem much the same. They are licensed with the local council (Scotland), with the Australian Labradoodle Association UK, are all vaccinated and come with health checks and you meet mum and dad on every visit. Our breeder was classed as a small scale breeder with the ALAUK and we’ve no problems with our dog. I’m sorry to disappoint the furious MN posters here but I would definitely use them again if our dog dies. Doodles seem to invoke absolute fury on MN which is why I rarely post here but in real life these dogs are everywhere and much loved.
I won’t return to this thread so good luck OP.

Get a poodle

Donakell Doodles, I think she is in Methlick.

Anyone breeding "mini goldendoodles" is someone to be avoided at all costs.

CharlieKirkRIP · 17/10/2025 16:16

luckyladygal · 17/10/2025 01:34

@CharlieKirkRIP Why ? Labradoodles are wonderful pets with just the best nature and you can have the smaller variety with smaller poodle ?

Edited

If you need it explained then you really shouldn’t be buying one!

I’ve yet to meet one that isn’t displaying behavioural issues and the owners aren’t stressed or resigned to their stupidly at getting one.

Also a known puppy farm.

It doesn't say much for The Australian Labradoodle Association UK if the breeder linked here is classified as a small scale breeder with 24 bitches and 6 stud dogs.
I find it horrifying that anybody could think this is vaguely normal in the dog breeding world, or want to buy a puppy from this type of commercial enterprise.

All the breeders (as of about a month ago when someone else posted asking about this 'breed') on the Australian Labradoodle Association UK website were puppy farmers. There were five, when I last checked, and the 'smallest' one had 6 breeding bitches. 😤

People don't care. They just want their cute puppy - it doesn't matter to them where it comes from.

You're probably right. I suppose it's pointless imagining that the puppy farm situation will ever change. Some people have been suggesting that the doodle fad is over, but it doesn't seem like it is.

Until these places are shut down and the breeding laws regulated, I don't think it'll ever change - and even then, people will still buy from BYB's.

It's the dogs I feel sorry for.

Cappuccino5 · 17/10/2025 19:16

No responsible, reputable breeder would have ‘miniature labradoodles’. That’s called a poorly bred mutt, likely coming with a wealth of behavioural and health issues. What planet are you on OP?

luckyladygal · 17/10/2025 19:44

I don’t understand why everyone is so against doodle breeds ! As I said previously I have already had 2 and no problem whatsoever. They are wonderful natures and absolutely no behavioural issues ? I have looked at Doodle Trust but not that many on just now, I will try the others and also thank you to the posters who have suggested some breeders. I want to ensure that I don’t support unethical breeding but just because I and others want a Labradoodle doesn’t make me or other doodle lovers ignorant or a bad person.

People are NOT generally against Doodles, they are against Doodle Breeders.

OP, you've uttered the word 'doodle,' everyone knows it brings out the anti-cross breed lot.

I wanted a poodle. I looked for a poodle. Everything about poodles was right for us. I'm currently cuddled up to the miniature labradoodle we ended up with because there were no poodles. Ours is 3/4 poodle anyway, and most people think she is 100%. She's perfect.

We bought from a genuine, one-off breeder so I can't help with recommendations, but I will say it took months to find somebody I felt confident was legit. We had/have all the health certifications you could/can have and DDog is healthy, no allergies etc. She is a barker and nervous at times - because she is 3/4 poodle. We've trained her, it's rare now.

The PP who suggested getting a poodle to avoid neuroticism made me chuckle.

I don’t believe you. Of course there are poodles. Contact the breed association. An adorable toy poodle has joined our family. Yes we had a long wait, because we had to wait for her to be born & then get her at 12 weeks. But there are poodles being bred from responsible breeders. Our wee girl as an incredibly happy, sociable, confident little pup. Poodles are wonderful

Well said 😀 Our labradoodle is up there with the best dogs we’ve had for temperament & obedience - the best recall - and I’ve had all sorts of breeds over the years!

There are no “doodle breeds”. A breed has a breed standard which good breeders use to produce the best dogs possible. There is no logic to owning a labradoodle. Labradors are breeds. Poodles are breeds. They are both lovely breeds. Either would make a fabulous pet and breeding them both together does not make a magic better dog. If anything, it increases the risk of food allergies and also creates a nightmare coat (doodles are much worse for matting than purebred poodles). And because there is no breed standard, nobody is breeding doodles to create the best dogs possible - because there’s no definition of what that is. So your motive isn’t improving a breed that you’re passionate about, then it’s money. Simple as that. And as soon as it’s money, animal welfare suffers. The breeder quoted here and highlighted as amazing is a puppy farmer hiding in plain sight. They all are.

Describe what you like about labradoodles OP, and tell me why you’re not basically describing a poodle. My conclusion from listening to every single person tell me why they want a doodle/why doodles are amazing is that in fact, they want a poodle.

luckyladygal · 17/10/2025 23:22

Based on initial research I did before getting a labradoodle combining the intelligence of a poodle with the placid and sociable lab made for a super sociable dog who loves other dogs and people and has a wonderful temperament with small children. They are easily trained and haven’t been destructive and are generally just a joy to be around

Reputable breeders don’t breed crosses. Why do you think you want a cross breed?
