Dd and I are hooked, despite being a cat, not dog owner and not likely to get a dog any time soon.
Just been blubbing at the Friend for Life bit.

Beauregard · 09/03/2008 20:25

We used to have a cocker spaniel,he was nuts.

hatwoman · 09/03/2008 20:26

oh me too. I knew it would either be her or the one that was the friend for the little boy with autism - it had to be.

we had told dds they could watch til 8 and we'd record it for tomorrow . and then bloody ben fogle made us feel mean. so dds still up.

ingles2 · 09/03/2008 20:44

but that's a strange looking little american cocker!!!! you need a truely gorgeous one like mine! (see profile)

Jazzicatz · 09/03/2008 20:46

Not a proper gundog though!

hatwoman · 09/03/2008 20:47

ingles isn;t yours an English cocker?. I agree the american ones are a bit odd.

OP posts:
Piffle · 09/03/2008 20:48

love that wheaten terrier lots...

ingles2 · 09/03/2008 20:49

she is an english cocker and a gundog

hatwoman · 09/03/2008 20:50

i want to stroke that wheaten. her (his?) coat looks amazing

OP posts:
ingles2 · 09/03/2008 20:54

hope the wheaten wins

ingles2 · 09/03/2008 20:55

shame!

Piffle · 09/03/2008 20:56

can't knock the winner, looked incredible!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 09/03/2008 20:58

Well, I have 2 beagles , so I was rooting for the beagle!! But knew it was a slim hope as a beagle won last year! The winner is lovely, though!

But the dancing dogs were hilarious!

hippipotami · 09/03/2008 20:59

The winner was fab, that was the one we were rooting for

I do not like hte American Cocker, they look odd.

I also don't like the way the AC has been styled/groomed/buffed. A walking powderpuff really, you would not take that for a romp in the woods would yo?

Daft Dill (my cocker) has spent the evening sitting on the rug in front of hte tv, waggeling his eyebrows at the dogs in his best 'come hither' fashion.

Gotta love proper cockers, they are fab

hippipotami · 09/03/2008 20:59

scuse bad typing, stiff fingers...

dd1 wanted the beagle to win. dd2 wanted the chi-i-have-no-idea-how-to-spell-it-wow-a to win. I thought the winner was great and I could see why the reserve was no. 2. but, although I don't normally like them, I thought the chi-wowa was great.

OP posts:
caspercat · 09/03/2008 22:12

Am i the only one who wanted the American Cocker to win then?? We had 2 when i was young, they were gorgeous. Agree they can look like powderpuffs when all tarted up like that, but if kept like british cockers they look dead cute, have huge fluffy paws! But Crufts does that to loads of breeds, give me a spiky, scruffy twinkly yorkie any day over the abominations they show in the ring.
Just glad the Shiba Inu didn't win.

Piffle · 09/03/2008 22:17

yeah that said for a Shiba Inu it was nice though...
I heart Rhodesian Ridgebacks IRL

hippipotami · 09/03/2008 22:22

Yes, fair point caspercat - of course a 'normal' American cocker is trimmed differently to the one shown in the showring.

I have never seen an AC in the flesh as it were, but if it is anything like an EC, then it must be a fab pet

Threadworm · 09/03/2008 22:24

Whhat breed won Crufts?

Piffle · 09/03/2008 22:32

giant schnauzer
had been bets in show finalist a gazillion times before
he was postively aged at 7
but lovely dog indeed
