Vet just phoned me and said that Nemo has been shot and the pellet has gone through his femer bone and shattered his leg into 10 small pieces.

all I can say is 'thank god I have pet insurance' the vet is doing a direct claim from the insurance company, as this will run into thousands.

SparklyGothKat · 16/07/2006 16:07

Sounds like a good idea ,it may warn other owners to be aware.

SparklyGothKat · 16/07/2006 16:10

thats what I want to do, make sure that other owners are aware that this is happening.

Been to see Nemo this morning, he is looking ok, and was purring lots. Just phoned the local paper and they are going to the vet later to take some pictures. They want me there too, DH didn't want our names in the paper but they wanted it all.

grrr bastards - poor Nemo and poor you and family

this makes me furious. I hope the local paper pick it up - they should do, it's the kind of story they run.

if he is 2.5 he should hopefully adapt to having only 3 legs very well. Still, would be nicer to have 4 and no twats running around using cats as target practice wouldn't it?
I hope the op goes well. he is very cute too.

expatinscotland · 17/07/2006 11:04

Is he still going into surgery today, Sparkly?

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 11:05

one of the other cats that was shot was from this street

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 17/07/2006 11:05

oh I am too slow.
glad the papers are doing it. I very much doubt it's anything personal that you should worry about your names in the paper - far more likely to be totally random.

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 11:05

should be in surgery now

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 11:06

just spoke to the paper again, they will run the story without our names

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 17/07/2006 11:09

let us know how it goes! here's hoping they can repair his leg.

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 11:11

someone in this street is shooting cats, so don;t fancy getting shot myself

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 11:21

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 13:02

OP posts:
lanismum · 17/07/2006 13:08

awww all my fingers are crossed that the op goes well and they can save his leg, hopefully he will be back home with you soon.

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 13:08

the vet is just about to start the operation..

OP posts:
lanismum · 17/07/2006 13:11

its so bloody unfair hes having to have an op, makes me soooo angry, will the vet ring you when the op is finished?

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 13:33

yes, I am annoyed because if we had moved by now (supposed to have moved between oct-dec) this wouldn;t have happened

OP posts:
CheesyFeet · 17/07/2006 14:19

Fingers crossed for your moggy Sparkly. What a crappy thing to happen .

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 18:04

just been over, he is doing well, reporter from the local paper came and took photos and a statement from the vet.

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 17/07/2006 19:36

oh good Sparkly

also good you won't be in the paper - missed the fact that it had happened to other cats. HOw horrid

SparklyGothKat · 17/07/2006 21:32

he is doing very well considering what happened, I am just so pleased that I have pet insurance, atm the bill stands at £800.
