Don't be daft.

IWFH · 23/11/2024 22:12

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mebebecat · 23/11/2024 22:15

I'm not signing, but I'm a bit amazed by the numbers that have. It now has to be debated in parliament it seems.

Daysnconfuddled · 23/11/2024 22:26

@@notmynormalnamehere I suspect you know that you won’t get many from the MN hive mind to sign up for this.

StillAtTheRestaurant · 23/11/2024 22:29

No thanks. Is there a petition to leave the government to get on with it for the next four years?

Not quite. It now has to be considered for a debate, and the government have to respond. I think the response will be predictable. They have a huge parliamentary majority. They're going nowhere.

BalladOfBarry · 23/11/2024 22:29

You'd have more chance writing to The Guardian than posting on here 😂

leftfootinletfootout · 23/11/2024 22:30

Boo hoo, we didn't get the result we wanted
You had your chance on July

poetryandwine · 23/11/2024 22:33

SnapdragonToadflax · 23/11/2024 22:12

Don't be daft.

Once again the first post nails it.

leftfootinletfootout · 23/11/2024 22:35

TikTok is full of this nonsense. It was all rigged apparently, Trump is going to force Starmer out and take over, Musk is going to buy the UK (that was my favourite)
Absolute bollocks

Daysnconfuddled · 23/11/2024 22:36

@poetryandwine I normally enjoy your posts in Higher Education, but this one is disappointing, assuming you are not being sarcastic.

pointythings · 23/11/2024 22:38

Don't you like democracy, OP?

Didn't we do that recently? In a general election? 😉

Gtfto2024 · 23/11/2024 22:50

One way of finding out who the reform voters are I guess.

Pmsl

Not me, I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of those standing in my area so spoiled my ballot.

So you had a chance to vote, didn't bother and are now complaining about the result ??

If you find one let me know!

So you know that in the UK we have this system of democracy that involves an election, not a petition? And numbers were somewhat higher in the election.

So why do you want another GE if you're not actually going to vote?

Hilarious, if there was another GE next month, the same parties and probably candidates would stand again and you'd spoil your ballot paper, you rebel you!

KoalaCalledKevin · 24/11/2024 07:50

Not me, I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of those standing in my area so spoiled my ballot.

🤣 so who would you vote for if there was another one?? It sounds like you vote based on the individuals standing, not the party in general which is fine but you'd probably have exactly the same candidates standing in your area anyway! Have you decided that one of them has improved significantly and become someone you can vote for?

AlbertCamusflage · 24/11/2024 07:58

Given that every election results in the losing parties gaining at least the 200,000 votes that this petition has, we could (if we decided to be stupid enough) have an endless cycle of general elections awarding millions of votes to the winning parties followed by petitions allowing a couple of hundred thousand people to perform a politer version of storming the Capitol.

I can imagine the debate in parliament that will result from this petition. Hope Hansard has an eye-roll emoticon.

UpTheMagicChristmasTree · 24/11/2024 08:00

No, we need the adults to fix the mess the last bunch of stroppy, selfish toddlers did.

SoiledMyselfDuringSomeTurbulence · 24/11/2024 11:14

Lmao no, you absolute melter. We live in a parliamentary democracy and you're all making fools of yourselves.

cardibach · 24/11/2024 12:03

That’s not how democracy works. But since you didn’t vote, you didn’t participate in the actual democratic bit.
