Review the brightness of car headlights for safety

Inspired by AIBU thread, "To think night driving is getting more dangerous"

The Government should launch a review into the problem of some headlights causing oncoming traffic drivers to be unable to see clearly and safely. The review should be conducted with car manufacturers to find solutions.

The RAC raised this issue as far back as 2018 and its recent study showed that nine-in-10 drivers think some or most car headlights on the UK’s roads are too bright. Government data shows that there are around 300 collisions every year where dazzling headlights are a factor.

Spoke to an optician about this. Said something along the lines of You're not allowed tinted glasses for driving and it's against the dvla laws

It's the lights themselves that need filtering!

Do you think the DVLA could send out some yellow stickers to drivers for their LED lights as a temporary measure? Joking not joking

Are there less bright/white compatible options you could replace them with?

It’s a lease car so doubt I can make adjustments to it. Maybe I could ask when it goes in for its service in a few months.

It’s interesting looking at the map of votes. Both by constituents and number. Some grey areas with no one signing.

Yes, come on Caithness! Some smaller areas in England could be city? I think it's a much bigger problem rurally.

Inner London not many last time I looked. I figured they’re all driving big cars so perhaps don’t notice. Or no one lives there. Or they all use public transport.

I’ve also noticed that some bus and van sides have large led screen with ads running. More light noise!

Massive trucks also don't need all the flashing stuff in the same way that road works are terrible. So much flashing of awful led's

That's true. I live on the outer edge of outer London, and we have lots of unlit/badly lit lanes, where I find this a real problem. If I'm driving in more built up, well lit areas, it's not so bad. Although still an issue.
