I visited there on a cruise and hated the place. I had no idea about this annual event though. Just felt so eerie. DH didn't like it either. It should have been wonderful as the scenery is nice. But I couldn't wait to get back on the ship. Then last week a friend shared this petition and I thought I bet somehow I've sensed this?
They get their dcs involved. It's a celebration. Absolutely barbaric.

I read a book loosely based on this event years ago. At the time I thought it was fictional (I'd never heard of the Faroe Islands so didn't know they were real, and the book is about dolphins and humans learning to talk, so added to the sense of made up)
Then I realised it was real. Just awful.
