Here is a link to the above petition. Something I feel strongly about.

I don't feel any need to be respectful to Wales.

For those questioning why...here's your reason.

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 10/09/2022 21:57

Op you need to do a proper petition on the government website for it to be debated by government, at least do it right.

petitioning is currently paused. You know out of respect to the queen. But if you’re going to ask people to sign a petition do it on the right site at least.

So you would rather Wales wasn't represented in the royal family?

crossstitchingnana · 10/09/2022 22:01

Err it's a no from me.

WhatAmIDoingWrong123 · 10/09/2022 22:03

Nah.

CaptaNoctem · 10/09/2022 22:04

Signed

Happyface120 · 10/09/2022 22:05

Dim diolch o Ynys Môn 🙄

Cactuslockdown · 10/09/2022 22:12

Errrrr, no

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 22:15

You want a referendum to not have a Prince of Wales because someone's not genuflecting towards your sense of national grievance?

Okaaaaaay.

GoneWithTheWine1 · 10/09/2022 22:15

Ffs. No.

Discovereads · 10/09/2022 22:15

Pack of hateful lies. Not signing. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Wouldloveanother · 10/09/2022 22:19

The title also implies that Wales is still a principality, undermining Wales' status as a nation and a country.

Huh? What does that even mean? I would infer Wales as a country from ‘Prince of Wales’. You don’t get ‘Prince of Leicester’ or ‘Princess of East Anglia’. It’s just Prince/Princess of X, X always being a country.

Mykittensmittens · 10/09/2022 22:20

I’m Welsh, as are my generations above. It’s my first language and I am from the area where the first (and hopefully next) investiture took place.

I am very proud to have a Prince of Wales in William, and formerly Charles.

Indeed, counties get earls and dukes, countries gets princes.

If anything I feel like the Title Prince and Princess of Wales recognises that Wales is a country, and is represented in the monarchy.

Scotland just get the monarch.

Sooveritallnow · 10/09/2022 22:37

Nope

worriedatthistime · 10/09/2022 22:38

Not appropriate and you won't get the signatures or it through at all

Wouldloveanother · 10/09/2022 22:41

It’s just nationalistic neuroses for the sake of it. We’ve learned through Brexit that although it feels like an act of defiance, it rarely works out in the long term.

worriedatthistime · 10/09/2022 22:41

Quite frankly the timing is in poor taste and i don't think mumsnet allow petitions on any page

LuluBlakey1 · 10/09/2022 22:42

Pathetic

Discovereads · 10/09/2022 22:43

The truth is, that since the days of Llywelyn the Last and the "rebel" Prince of Wales, Owain Glyndwr, the title has been held exclusively by Englishmen as a symbol of dominance over Wales. To this day, the English "Princes of Wales" have no genuine connection to our country

You make me sick with your lies. Since 1485 when the WELSH royal family of Tudor (Tewdwr, Kings of Deuheubath) took the throne of England and Wales, it’s been men of royal WELSH descent holding the title. Furthermore, since the Tudors and Scottish royals, Stuarts, intermarried and James I ascended to the throne, all the Princes of Wales have been descended from TWO WELSH royal families, the Tewdwrs and the Gruffyds (Kings of Gwynedd) because the Stuarts at that time were also descended from Llywelyn ap Gruffyd’s daughter Nesta.

Petitions based on lies designed to stir up hatred should be banned.

MarigoldPetals · 10/09/2022 22:46

I really don’t think Prince William is becoming Prince of Wales to assert his dominance as the petition suggests. I think he is doing it to show he cares for Wales and to try and show how important Wales is to the UK.

NoYouSirName · 10/09/2022 22:50

Dim diolch, nid wythnos yma.

Poor taste and timing, OP.

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 10/09/2022 22:51

So not the time. Seriously.

Indeed and William is the patron of the WRU! Not sure what Catherine will do as she's England Rugby isn't she? 😂 might make an interesting atmosphere non some international days haha

Get a grip.
