Scottish Parliament petition on accurately recording the sex of people charged or convicted of rape or attempted rape
MurrayBlackburnMackenzie · 07/06/2021 15:06
We thought this might be of interest to women on this board, based on the response to a recent news article on this issue which sparked this thread:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4221733-Rape-suspects-can-choose-to-self-identify-as-female-Times-Scotland
We have lodged a petition in the Scottish Parliament, which was published today, calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to require Police Scotland, the Crown Office and the Scottish Court Service to accurately record the sex of people charged or convicted of rape or attempted rape.
We are now collecting signatures for our petition. If you would like to sign, the link is below. Signatures will be collected for four weeks, until 5 July.

This blog sets out the background to the petition and our reasons for using a public petition to secure clarity about the issue of recording sex accurately in these cases specifically:

Thank you.

Thank you for doing this as the SNP government is ignoring both the women of Scotland and the growing evidence of the harm Stonewall et al has and is doing to our country

I can't sign because I'm not in Scotland.
The monitors will report this thread because of the petition link. You could ask MN to remove the link as it's contained within the blog.

Signed. There is a drop down menu to select your country of residence.
TofuDelights · 07/06/2021 19:27
Signed. Thank you very much for everything that you are doing.

Thank you, I didn't get any options in the drop down when I first tried but I have now and I've signed.

Signed - thank you
I petitioned for the Alba party for this very reason.
Because of the 'Hate Crime Bill' the issue can't be spoken about in public because almost everything you say is wrong about it goes against the rights of genuine transgender. You're basically fucked trying to find the right way of talking about it because of Twitter police
Nobody is taking any rights away from anyone. I'm only interested in protecting the safety of women and girls.

I'm not here promoting any party in this reply. I'm only sharing my concerns with the current government policy on this issue
