The government wouldn't take any notice if the whole country signed that op. They don't care about teachers and other school staff.

6,000,000 signed the eu ref petition and it disappeared without a squeak.

I have some sympathy for closing or part time schooling some schools, in some locations.

But for others (yes like be one my kids go to) it would be foolish. Tiny, rural, in an area with few cases... Why would we close unless the virus is actually detected in the school community?

I don't think schools should close.

I think the lockdown should have co-incided with half-term so that there was a short burst of almost complete lockdown and then just the educational settings, but that ship has sailed.

Schools are staying open for a reason.

Now if there was a petition to stop parents who chose to temporarily home educate being fined and/or losing their child's place in the school I'd sign that.

Absolutely not. You obviously have no idea the effect school closures had on children. If you don't want to send YOUR child to school fine but you have no right to stop mine.
