To find myself actually agreeing with something Katie Hopkins said?

Ok. Got your attention! Have no idea of anything she has said recently but it is most unlikely I would agree.

Now, please read on: at the moment if someone has been drink driving and is involved in a serious accident it is incredibly tempting for them to flee the scene and many do. Please read this petition, started by the family member of someone left to die by the roadside in a hit and run
a mumsnetter linked to it and has been trying to get interest in it .... please consider signing and sharing so we can at least get this to the 10000 mark and get a government response.

My first boyfriend died by the roadside after a hit and run, not instantly but before an ambulance could reach him. I hate thinking what pain he must have suffered.

Don't you think it's worth getting the loophole in the law closed? Then it doesn't matter if people are aware as the offence of leaving the scene will carry equal weight.
Sorry for everyone who has had to deal with this loss, it's simply awful to read these sort of stories.

tattiehat · 02/04/2018 21:23

Done!

LimonViola · 02/04/2018 21:27

Yes I do, Michael.

strongswans · 02/04/2018 21:38

Done, the current law is appalling. Oh and get people attention however you can!

Iamalltheyhavenow · 02/04/2018 22:09

Worked on me too! Have signed

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/04/2018 22:28

Thank you for all the new signatures.

I feel the law should be on similar lines (but even more serious sentences) to that for refusing a breath test. If you refuse a breath test you automatically lose your licence. Similarly if you are a driver and you flee the scene of an accident you caused where people are injured then it should be an automatic prison sentence. That would substantially reduce the temptation to flee the scene which would improve justice and also increase likelihood of an ambulance being called swiftly.

I'm sad that this has been moved. It was really working last night and the numbers jumped up.
I assume someone reported it...

We're so close to 5000 signatures.

Please keep bumping this thread so it shows in Active.

And please keeps signing and sharing.

Same steak pretty disappointed it has been moved. Petty of someone to report it, it wasn’t doing any harm to anyone.

The law is adequate to deal with
This

NeverTwerkNaked · 03/04/2018 17:45

How minnie ?

OP posts:
NeverTwerkNaked · 03/04/2018 17:49

just curious because it seems the fact so many choose to flee the scene of an accident would suggest the law is not currently adequate.
