To find myself actually agreeing with something Katie Hopkins said?

Ok. Got your attention! Have no idea of anything she has said recently but it is most unlikely I would agree.

Now, please read on: at the moment if someone has been drink driving and is involved in a serious accident it is incredibly tempting for them to flee the scene and many do. Please read this petition, started by the family member of someone left to die by the roadside in a hit and run
a mumsnetter linked to it and has been trying to get interest in it .... please consider signing and sharing so we can at least get this to the 10000 mark and get a government response.

My first boyfriend died by the roadside after a hit and run, not instantly but before an ambulance could reach him. I hate thinking what pain he must have suffered.

I don’t really pay any attention to celebrities pigeon or indeed to what KH does or doesn’t talk about, but I knew threads about her on mumsnet get a lot more attention than our thread about hit and run drivers was getting

and I do apologise if I have annoyed or irritated or offended anyone by creating “click bait”. But hopefully you will realise that that is a minor niggle compared to the suffering of those whose loved ones have been left dying by a roadside by hit and run drivers who know their sentence will be far far lighter if they evade the police for a few hours.

That link actually has taught me that if you want to reduce the repercussions of hitting someone while drink driving you should flee rather than stop and help!

I don't drink drive so it won't affect my actions but i honestly had no idea that stopping to assist could mean a lesser sentence.

So I support the petition. But wonder if it is also raising awareness that someone who hits someone after a drink would be better served driving off.
