Your details remain private, I don't want to start yet another trans thread but I thnk we can all agree that there needs to be more discussion with the people affected by the changes in law!

So fucking depressing. Less than 5000 signatures. Bye bye women and their rights Sad Sad

Only a measly 5 signatures in my area! 2 are me and dd. I have put the link on FB. I don't think people outside of MN know what self ID means! The government aren't letting on, whilst making UK laws behind our backs. How can we let people know what's happening before a law is passed which allows female spaces to be taken over by "female dicks"??

worstwitch18 · 14/03/2018 20:07

Really needs someone in the media to cover it.

Yes! Any journalists reading this thread please throw it out there so everyone gets the gist of what is happening behind closed doors. We need to question the govt on this matter before the horse bolts and women are made to shut up and put up 😏

drinkswineoutofamug · 14/03/2018 20:21

Where are the daily mail when we need them!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/03/2018 20:25

When it’s the slightest bit, actually a bit slightly more controversial they aren’t going to be interested. Total lightweights.

Sanderz · 14/03/2018 20:32

5000's good isn't it? It'll be up for 6 months won't it?

Tralalee · 14/03/2018 20:33

The daily mail hate women just as much if not more than transactivists

NoSquirrels · 14/03/2018 20:34

I think the general public are just ignorant of the issue. If any paper or media outlet would cover it - even just in a neutral “some women are calling for...” tone then I think there would be a big upswing.

The Waitrose non-Mother Mother’s Day cards was front page news in some last Sunday.

I can’t believe this won’t get coverage anywhere.

But it will not happen without someone prominent willing to put it out there first. Frustrating.

MrsOvarall · 14/03/2018 20:37

Thickandthin don't panic, it's only been three days. 5k signatures is amazing. Especially considering that the petition has had no mainstream publicity. I've watched it race up the list and overtake petitions that have been on the site for months.

We have six months to get to100k! Plenty of time to roll our sleeves up, raise awareness and gather signatures for an evidence based debate.

DNAnotGRA · 14/03/2018 20:39

I agree, it has had a tremendous response in such a short space of time and the more people learn about the madness the more will sign up. Look at what has happened to Hortons Womens Holiday Centre for sharing the petition - the louder the TRA's shout the more people will wake up to the reality of this nonsense

JaimesGoldenHand · 14/03/2018 20:57

Keep it active

NoSquirrels · 14/03/2018 21:37

Yes, I agree, response so far is great - but when you think if 60% of the population it’s hard not to be impatient!

NoSquirrels · 14/03/2018 21:39

60% = 50% Hmm

Unless there’s a helluva lot of MtT& the statistics are all FUBAR Grin

DarthArts · 14/03/2018 22:53

I just feel so damn frustrated that this issue isn't getting the mainstream attention it deserves.

When I talk to someone who doesn't know about it they are surprised why it's passed them by.

NoSquirrels · 14/03/2018 23:02

I really hate that it’s become an Us vs Them issue. Why are Women’s Rights so secondary to everyone?

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 14/03/2018 23:04

I definitely think not to be disheartened yet. I ldid not know about this last week! People just don't know. Keep sharing and discussing in real life.

I knew about the gender shit as background noise, but I didn't realise there was anyone speaking out against it. I thought the left agenda was supported by all and no-one would speak out against it; also, that those on the right were trying so hard not be the baddies, would end up going along with it all etc.

I'm on MN all the time, but just ignored the trans threads as I thought you were all supporting the Owen Jones noise. Honestly I'm not the biggest dimbo around and I managed to avoid it.

People genuinely don't know they are allowed to question it, we have all been set to standby on the issue. Once you re-set the remote control - I think people wake up and go "what the fuck?"

Joani Walsh is covering it in the Mail on Sunday Smile

NoSquirrels · 15/03/2018 07:34

Brilliant- thanks Joani Walsh! Am pleased to hear The Mail mentioned, which is a first Grin
