Please sign in here if you do. I think people who use it should be shot.

OP posts:
finknottle · 17/12/2008 14:36

Crimbola has a worryingly festive ring to it.

"December 17th 2 p: Crimbola in the Elysium Fields Retirement Home"

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 14:36

xpistos! I'm liking that as an ejaculation

Also - against Nature though it may be - there is something rather nice about Chrimb-Olaaa. Said in annoying fratboy voice.

finknottle · 17/12/2008 14:36

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 14:38

Lol Christmas with the Barlows: another Snowball, Swedes?

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 14:39

xpistos! Yes. I really do like it.

alexpolismum · 17/12/2008 15:15

just wondering how you're pronouncing that, onebat

Swedes · 17/12/2008 15:18

I suspect the Barlows have canapes.

Canapes is another word that I have grown to love. But I am very firm in the belief it must be (mis)pronounced canopies or canapes to rhyme with grapes.

Swedes · 17/12/2008 15:20

Xpistos is rather pleasing. I say it like Stavros who works in a restaurant near Farringdon tube staish.

finknottle · 17/12/2008 15:37

Agree, Swedes.
Yum, canopies.
With oloves
And smoked sal-mon. (Er, that one was my forrin h)

I want to spend just one Christmas with Blanche. We could deconstruct Postman Pat together.

This thread has made me very happy. It's like Xmas has come early

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 17:28

you've got to pronounce Xpistos erm, uncyrillically or it loses its oomph.

Is your dh Espanisha, finknottle? I love the way they pronounce sal-món. Or perhaps Italian (sál-mon)?

Threadworrm · 17/12/2008 17:31

I want to cuddle swedes' tutor who called the ratio decidendi the ratty deck.

I have a feeling he is Mole from Wind in the Willows.

finknottle · 17/12/2008 18:15

My h is Deutsch.

Threadworm, I want to nominate your post of 9.50:

"Perhaps here (sorry, quick wank) we have the whole history of metaphysical thought, from magic, through religion, to philosophy..."

for Quote of the Week.

It encapsulates MN for me and I'm still laughing at and relishing the non-apologetic tone of "(sorry, quick wank)"

notevenamousie · 17/12/2008 19:19

Seconded, finknottle

EachPeachPearMum · 17/12/2008 21:25

Surely a crimbalo is a bungalow covered in house bling?

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 22:45

chrimbalo

(You have to look quite closely)

EachPeachPearMum · 17/12/2008 23:00

I can't actually see that onebat! (and I am long-sighted)

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 23:02

It's Father Christmases on a Pedalo

snowleopard · 17/12/2008 23:19

I got it onebat!

here we are for the less eagle-eyed.

Horrors! On closer inspection there appears to be a babe on the crimbalo too!

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 17/12/2008 23:28

Is it the Baby Cheeses?

Panta · 17/12/2008 23:36

yes UD - They should be shot. Very slowly. With a rusty bullet. And buried in a grave marked " Victim of the Tight-arsed Liberal Fascists".

EachPeachPearMum · 17/12/2008 23:38

I thought it was going to be a gruffalo dressed as FC... obviously I have too high hopes!

Penthesileia · 18/12/2008 08:43

See, what I like about this thread now is that it has moved on, in such a weird way, from the OP that those people who - quite reasonably () - turn up to answer it (without having read through the thread) now appear to have some kind of C(h)rimbo related tourettes-like condition....

E.g.

  • "Up with Chrimbo!"
  • "Down with Chrimbo!"
  • "UQD is a language hating, kill-joy prude!"
  • "UQD is the defender of all that is holy and good in this country!"

And so on.

I too thought Wind in the Willows, Threadworrm.

And what about Gary Barlow (M&S/Take That Chrimbo fusion)?

RustyBear · 18/12/2008 16:23

I prefer this for Quote of the week (if they allow two-part posts)

By Swedes on Wed 17-Dec-08 13:35:13

Thready - Weren't the Ionian Thinkers the first philosophers, moving from myth to science (the cosmos)? I feel we should be discussing the word 'flux'.

By onebatmotherofgoditschilly on Wed 17-Dec-08 13:54:09

ffluxsake.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/12/2008 20:05

We received a card today..... with the words 'Crimbo Crazy' on the front
UQD- you would hate it!

Madmentalbint · 22/12/2008 08:00

Really dislike Crimbo but can cope with the occassional Xmas
