Why do so many people write priminister instead of prime minister

What's a priminister?

I keep seeing this everywhere now. And what's the excuse for this? Shameful?

I blame Primark. 😂

Never seen that one. I often ponder how much worse social media would be without spell check built in so maybe it’s such an alien ‘word’ it doesn’t get picked up!

Me neither. And how would you say it? The loss of the ‘e’ at the end of prime makes it look like it should be pronounced ‘prim’ as In prim and proper.

I've never seen that either. When spoken people do tend to run the words together and speak it a bit like Prime Inister so I can see how priminister would come about

Same as aswell. It seems to happen more often now that people join two words together thinking they are correct.

I see it regularly on this forum.

It’s a result of people getting all their information from video sources and not through reading. Poor enunciation means that many people will run the two words together in speech. If the viewer/listener has never seen the phrase written down, doesn’t have a wide vocabulary and doesn’t understand that ‘prime minister’ means ‘first minister’, then ‘priminister’ is a fair rendering of what they are hearing, and simply becomes a word which denotes the concept even though it makes no sense.

I've never seen it written down but a lot of people say it that way so I'm not surprised.
