It's unread not "on read"

I'm seeing this more and more on here and it really irritates me more than it should but here we are. "On read" doesn't even make sense! It's "unread"...this post will probably be unread but at least I've had my tiny rant

Technically we don't know if the OP has left us unread or on read. Could this be vital new functionality to suggest to MN?

Maybe OP could ask MN to change the title to

It’s en route and not “on route”?

The status is "Read" which they have left you on, basically it means they read the message and chose not to reply. It doesn't mean unread at all, as that would imply they've not seen it.

I think you've left this thread unread op.

Two grey ticks - unread
Two blue ticks, no reply - left on read

Nope, on read is when you can see the message has been delivered and read (eg. WhatsApp two blue ticks) and you might say to your friend "The wanker's left me on read for a week".
Unread is when they haven't read the message at all.

I suspect you're going to leave all of our messages "on read" though as you're probably reading them and can't face replying now.
