I started a new thread with it and people were saying there was a paywall, but I could get through.

I got through it using one of the suggestions on that thread, using chrome instead of safari. (It may be that switching browser from the one with a failed attempt is what's needed)
It didn't locate the town I grew up in (Essex coast)nor my parents northern areas (which are also more or less where I've lived later). They were teachers and I think that although they occasionally used words and dialect forms they mostly spoke 'standard English' without marked regional accents.

I got in by googling ‘British Irish dialect quiz’. Disappointingly general result for me — covered most of Ireland outside of Dublin and Ulster.

I tried the link I'd used before (from one of the Irish or Scottish papers) and can't get in again.

Probably need to clear cookies or something?

Oh yes indeed! Is there a floor in the street? Or on a football pitch? Or in a field miles from anywhere? No there is not! It's GROUND. A floor is constructed by a human or sometimes an animal. Can you tell how annoyed this makes me?!
