Not a pedantic question but ..is there a word to describe ..

when you carry out a very routine action and it fails ?

You miss the coat peg you were aiming to hang the coat on ,the salt cellar drops through your fingers ,the lid of the toothpaste tube doesn't screw on straight .

It really irritates me when this happens and I feel a descriptive verb would ease the pain .

My colleague at work used to suffer from the affliction of "passionfingers"... the ability to fuck up anything he touched.

Lids would never go on straight, he spread ketchup across the ceiling because the lid was cockeyed and he shook it in an arcing movement - that sort of thing.
