All those threads at the start of the new school year recently. All those mentions of making 'a pack lunch' or 'pack lunches'.

When you are making the lunch, you pack it, into the lunchbox.

When all the contents are in, its a PACKED lunch.

Never thought of that :) I say pack lunch but would write packed lunch

IHatePingu · 18/10/2013 12:05

It's neither. It's a pack up lunch. ;)

Pack up

crabb · 18/10/2013 12:10

The same applies to 'Box Set'. It's a boxed set thank you very much.

Yonididnaedaethat · 18/10/2013 12:10

In my house it's a case of "oh just have a school lunch today"Smile

greensnail · 18/10/2013 12:14

When I was in primary school I had a Postman Pat lunch box and was convinced for years it was called a Pat lunch Blush

TooTabooToBOOOOO · 18/10/2013 12:16

Oh thank god, Yoni - thought I was the only one who did that! Grin

joanofarchitrave · 18/10/2013 12:19

With you, sister.

My boss refers to the 'share drive' on the computer. ShareD drive, shareD drive, shareD drive.

Does this fall into the same category as "Chester draws"?

flowery · 18/10/2013 13:43

Love Pat box! Grin

flowery · 18/10/2013 13:43

I mean Pat lunch...!

crabb · 18/10/2013 13:50

A box set would be a set of boxes, surely. Not DVDs or whatever.

I think the OP got off very lightly missing an apostrophe in the title of a thread in Pedants' Corner!

MortifiedAdams · 19/10/2013 00:33

Toiletry Bag......surely 'toiletries bag'?

Elsiequadrille · 19/10/2013 01:09

Oho yes, missing apostrophes. Smile

It might just be a short form people use/say, not necessarily incorrect.

BigArea · 19/10/2013 01:23

Is this the wrong time to mention my ire regarding so-called 'female toilets'? Gah

I say packed lunch! I hate seeing threads about Pack Ups..... Pack UP what?

You know what really gives me the rage though... 'draw' instead of 'drawer'. Just no.

There is so much in this thread that has not tweaked me before my blood-pressure is going to suffer.

ohmymimi · 19/10/2013 14:30

Love the 'Pat' lunch, though.Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/10/2013 14:33

'chester draws'? Oh dear God that is awful.
