Did anyone lose a goose?
I am going on a wild goose chase.
Because there is a goose loose.

mrsruffallo · 15/12/2010 14:09

I am pissing people off by pulling them up on random threads. So here it is.

i like that TA

floozle · 15/12/2010 14:20

I like that too TA. Do you have anything similar for Bought/Brought?

TrillianAstra · 15/12/2010 14:29

I bought a cake from the shop (I purchased it with money), then I brought it here (I carried it with me). Would you like some?

Not as fun as the goose unfortunately.

mrsruffallo · 15/12/2010 14:35

I bought a goose and set it loose Smile

Have you been getting flak for it mrsruffalo?

mrsruffallo · 15/12/2010 14:41

Yes. Lots of ffs and accusations of being patronising.
My grammar is not perfect, I am sure I make mistakes in most of my posts, but the lose/loose error is increasingly common and I can't resist the urge to comment.

PositiveAttitude · 15/12/2010 14:48

Thank you Mrsruffallo, this drives me mad every time I see it and have also had the FFS comments when I have dared to mention it! Certainly not perfect here, but notice this EVERY time!!

TrillianAstra · 15/12/2010 14:49

I think you will like this alot

PositiveAttitude · 15/12/2010 15:15

BUMP
A reminder for the evening crowd.
I may bump this ad infinitum until it sinks in.

OP posts:
PositiveAttitude · 15/12/2010 20:23

I'll give it a bump, too. Although I am not too sure the message will get through to some habitual users.

TrillianAstra · 15/12/2010 22:56

Everyone was busy watching the Apprentice.

Haha to "habitual users" - these people who "lose" things all the time, it's a difficult habit to crack.

bisybackson · 15/12/2010 23:02

I feel your pain. Can I just add 'councilling' and 'definately' to the list. I've seen the latter so often, recently, that I had to look it up to make sure I wasn't wrong!

TA - you link gave me a much needed giggle.

mrsruffallo · 16/12/2010 11:12

Just saw it again
Bumpity Bump

TrillianAstra · 16/12/2010 14:02

It would be rude to call someone up for saying 'here here' wouldn't it? Especially on a thread I started. I should just be grateful that they are posting rather than tell them off for not posting correctly.

PositiveAttitude · 16/12/2010 15:34

"here, here" Xmas Grin Perhaps she was telling you go to her, like calling a dog? You could always respond with a "where, Where?" (Not suggesting you are a dog, you understand!! Xmas Blush) On the other hand, it does sound as if she was agreeing with whatever you were saying, so maybe pedantic tendencies should be curbed for the greater good. Xmas Smile

I cannot believe I am posting on this thread, I thought you lot were a load of crusty old ! Maybe I have just become so worn down I am now one myself. Xmas Hmm

PositiveAttitude · 16/12/2010 15:35

Oh my goodness, just read that back and it sounds like I am being really rude!!! Ooops sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like that. I am sure you are all lovely.

UnquietDad · 16/12/2010 15:38

There's a moose
loose
aboot this hoose.

GrimmaTheNome · 16/12/2010 15:40

Can I add (again) - especially in this icy weather please brake your car not break it.

MissAnthropy · 16/12/2010 15:46

You do know the offenders have Pedants' corner hidden?

Can you spread the word about etc NOT ect while you're doing the rounds? And have NOT of.

Cheers.

gerontius · 16/12/2010 15:50

Also, "a lot" is two words.

PositiveAttitude · 16/12/2010 16:02

Gerontius, see the link further down this thread for the "alot" explanation.
