Parties/celebrations

Whether you're planning a birthday or a hen do, you'll find plenty of ideas for your celebration on our Party forum.

I have refined the food to buy for ds1's party. Please look. Feel free to point out flaws, but don't have a bunfight about it please.

sausage rolls!

fannyannie · 30/03/2007 21:11

Sounds great - but if you're having icecream then you MUST have Jelly !

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2007 21:11

PIZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAS

Greenleeves · 30/03/2007 21:11

It sounds lovely colditz, can I come please?

Soapbox · 30/03/2007 21:11

That sounds great colditz!

I usually make some jam pinwheel sarnies too which always get gobbled up

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2007 21:12

It is Nice ham, I presume?

how about cherry tomatoes?

Greenleeves · 30/03/2007 21:12

Lets not invite the naughty lentil person, she'll only stink up the place with her fruitsome vegetarian farts

MamaG · 30/03/2007 21:13

My tip - ball your melons. Went down a storm at my DD's party

I did prety much what you've done, but bowls of graps, then bowls of melon balls etc.

Are you going to put "no wanky plastic tat please" on teh invitations like ANOTHER MNer did recently?

fannyannie · 30/03/2007 21:13

actually though I've always found those little cocktail sausages are more popular than the little sausage rolls (and make less mess) as some children don't like the pastry?

sassy · 30/03/2007 21:14

Yum, sounds good. Grapes and strawbs always go down well at our parties.
Are the biscuits Party Rings? Cos they have to be, y'know!

PestoEasterMonster · 30/03/2007 21:15

Sorry, I was only joking about the sausage rolls... What about those chocolate cornflake cake things... I love those

(not that I'm coming of course)

TeeCee · 30/03/2007 21:18

How about carrot batons, cucumber, strips of red & yellow pepper? cherry toms. bread sticks.

With dips?

little sandwiches cut into shapes?

litle mini pretzels

little mini cup cake / fairy cakes

fruit

luckylady74 · 30/03/2007 21:22

exact copy of my twins' 2nd birthday party except we had vegetarian children too so i putout houmous/breadsticks/carrot sticks and we had to have jelly because it's their favourite - but to be honest that and icecream is so messy that next time i may just do fairy cakes or mini-milks! i think a cheese plate, crackers and grapes for parents is nice as they all get hungry.

colditz · 30/03/2007 21:22

Well I could do all those healthy things, but I have nowhere to put it all afterwards

seriously, cherry toms a good one, and strawbs

the biscuits are not for the lunch they are to decorate with icing and sprinkles and sweets afterwards.

colditz · 30/03/2007 21:23

I am going to do enough rolls for parents too, it is over lunchtime and people will be hungry

OP posts:
colditz · 30/03/2007 21:23

And I like wanky plastic

OP posts:
dan4han · 30/03/2007 21:26

Don't forget fruit shoots!!!

luckylady74 · 30/03/2007 21:26

oh pestomonster reminded me that i did the cbeebies snowball things it's just white chocolate rice crispy cakes - much less messy than brown!

handlemecarefully · 30/03/2007 21:28

Mini picnic eggs are always a winner.

What about some carrot batons and cucumber crudites - yep I know the lo's don't always eat them (although mine do hoover the carrots), but it always makes me and I'm sure so many other mums, feel a lot better if they are there and have been offered (even if most of the little blighters ignore them)

handlemecarefully · 30/03/2007 21:29

Gawd keep up hmc! - have noticed that Teecee has already mentioned the crudites.

dan4han · 30/03/2007 21:30

don't have cocktail sticks though you might get sued for injurys.

colditz · 30/03/2007 21:37

I'm not offering crudites

I am doing Fruit. I don't care what the other mums think, really, I am too scared of someones kid choking to dish up raw veg. Hence fruit. Pineapple easier to chew, I think.

OP posts:
colditz · 30/03/2007 21:38

might do cucumber, most kids liek it, yes?

OP posts:
colditz · 30/03/2007 23:36

So, tinsy little rolls with ham and cheese and something else
crisps
icecream
sausages
fruit salad
cucumber
cherry toms

Birthday cake
biscuits to decorate

sorted.

Any more for any more?

Hulababy · 30/03/2007 23:37
