Ds1 is 8 this year and instead of having a big party (which he always has) we are just having a few friends over (as its in the half term). But other then shove them upstairs on the playstation I dont really know what to do with them.

Dh is taking the day off work so that at some point we can taken them all over the aprk with a football. But i need ideas what to do with 6 8yo boys for a couple of hours. Also food, should i do sandwiches n crisps, or something cooked, or maybe create your own pizzas??

Need some guidance please.

Any good adventure playgrounds near you?

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 13:31

no not really, and we dont have a car big enough to get them all in.

What about a movie, with popcorn and pizza?

You could also do a bit of a movie quiz beforehand (a friend did this) eg with Star Wars questions etc.

PandaG · 20/03/2007 13:31

Home cinema? make popcorn, design your own pizzas maybe. Could make tickets for cinema? Watch suitable film in the dark - DS could show guests to their seats?

table football competition or something similar?

PandaG · 20/03/2007 13:32

snap Clary!

auntymandy · 20/03/2007 13:32

make your own pizza would be good as it will kill 15 mins or so and they can eat them ;ater on.
Whad does DS want to do?

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 13:33

oooh i like that idea. just trying to find something that they havent all seen.

he is not really that bothered just wants to do something with a few friends. Have suggested cinema, swimming, bowling etc and he just shrugs his shoulders.

Think I stopped parties for mine at 6!!!

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 13:40

Are you near countryside/woods? Run in the woods, build a bivouac(sp), picnic.... climb a big hill? Castle?

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:04

no nothing like that near by and we dont have a garden.

Am starting to think its not such a good idea now

Parties are a nightmare!! My ds1 will be 8 soon...
I'll keep racking my brains for you.

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:08

i keep thinking about some sort of quiz, where i can split them into pairs and give out prizes.

As long as you can keep their interest - boys are very good at distracting each other.

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:33

thats what i'm worried about

cece · 20/03/2007 14:36

DH says obstacle, sack races etc

Your DH could go in goal and they could do some shooting goals practice

cece · 20/03/2007 14:36

DH is on fire!

Get a load of boxes and see who can build the tallest tower??

CODalmighty · 20/03/2007 14:37

go to park

then set u indoor olympics

get some soft sckittles
a pyramind of old yogurt pots

tehn creata a statue out of lego

do abtou 5 roudns - give points

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:39

ooh they are all good ideas, will sit down with ds when he gets home and see what he thinks.

OP posts:
CODalmighty · 20/03/2007 14:40

or hire a karaoke thing

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:47

there will only be about 6 boys altogether

OP posts:
CODalmighty · 20/03/2007 14:47

we do that as a party every year
football at park then tea and play at ours

wurlywurly · 20/03/2007 14:50

just thought he would enjoy something with just his "best freinds", rather then inviting the whole class, and dont wanna spend too much as we are having a family bbq on the saturday for both ds's birthdays (as they are only 3 days apart)
