If you got an invitation with this on, what would you think about it? And would you take a present, or not?

LOL! I think the phrase you are looking for is "you nobs"

ok

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2007 21:18

Polgara yes it was comedy bad manners

(sorry Polgara, I do agree with you, it is fun and nice and lovely and fuzzy to buy presents. In fact, why doesn't everyone on this thread buy me a present? Go on, you know you want to. I love 'em.)

Betcha wish you hadn't bothered now don't you!

AitchYouBerk · 14/03/2007 21:22

no, you're doing it because you don't want people to feel obligated. i understand. but people who don't go to a lot of children's parties don't feel obligated to bring a pressie, it's nice.
people who do go to a lot of them probably do feel obligated, to be fair, but unless you come to an agreement then i don't think there's much to do. i'd hate not to bring a present for example and then find everyone else had. there's a great episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where exaclty that happens. (and then larry stabs ben stiller in teh eye, so it's not identical...)

for the record, my NCT gang does a secret santa for birthdays and christmas, so we all get something decent and buy something decent.

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2007 21:22

I am PRINTING the invitations

(and very beeyootiful they are too)

oooh I agree with Bran, but was thinking it might be a bit difficult if the tasteful spoke to the tat bringers...

but anyway what is the difference between obliged and obligated?

and with my dd's close friends they club together and discuss one present, I like that...

.. but F&Z I am impressed by the can of worms you managed to open here, with a few short words to be added to an invite, tis quite amazing and proably indicitive of middle class angst...

AitchYouBerk · 14/03/2007 21:24

so what have you written? are you in your spare room Right Now? is it tidy? [fascinated]

Yes HC has explained it all very kindly to me over the cocopops, Aitch

I am not going to put anything, as I don't want to a) ban presents b) embarrass anyone c) make anyone worried

I am blaming EVERY ONE OF YOU in 3 weeks time when I have a mountain of plastic shite in my living room

OP posts:
Aefondkiss · 14/03/2007 21:34

F&Z good luck with your plastic mountain... will it be a power rangers mountain?
